Chapter 1387: Chapter 1373: Abandoned Chapter 1387: Chapter 1373: Abandoned ng Xiuluo had delegated the task to Barbarian and returned to his room. No sooner had he sat down than a roar ca thundering through, sending a wave of sheer panic washing over him. He hurriedly rushed out and asked, “What’s going on?”
Barbarian replied, “The blood of the sharks may have attracted that monster.”
That monster was known to hunt on the eastern side of the island, and the likelihood of it venturing to the north was quite low. Yet, it wasn’t clear whether it had been lured by the school of sharks or not.
Another roar ensued, accompanied by the sound of splashing water. But due to the heavy fog, one could only roughly discern the direction of the monster.
ng Xiuluo asked, “Barbarian, can you confirm that it’s the sound of that monster?”
Having heard the monster’s roar on the mountain, Barbarian wasted no ti in replying, “Yes, that’s definitely the sound of the monster.” He felt a sense of foreboding, wondering how they had managed to inadvertently draw a whole group of sharks directly to them.
ng Xiuluo estimated the distance and guessed that the monster probably hadn’t detected their ship yet. The fog was still dense, but it was uncertain whether the monster would discover the ship.
Xiang Yi glanced at the shark corpses floating below and said, “These bodies will definitely attract the monster. We need to leave this area quickly, or we’re in danger.”
It seed that they had chosen an unfortunate day to set sail, as such troubling incidents were truly headache-inducing.
Barbarian agreed with Xiang Yi, “She’s right. The corpses of the sharks will attract the Pangu beast. I must leave at once.” From the monster’s roars, one could infer that the Pangu Beast was drawing ever closer, likely drawn by the scent of blood.
ng Xiuluo looked around but couldn’t find the bargain deal, and exclaid angrily, “Where the hell is that cheap bargain?” At tis like this, they needed soone to help, especially a martial arts expert like the cheap bargain.
Without answering, Barbarian simply said, “Don’t worry, we can handle it.”
However, ng Xiuluo beca increasingly agitated and said, “Damn it, that guy is actually able to hide himself so well.” He rushed to the room arranged for the cheap bargain and shouted, “Cheap bargain, co out quickly! The Pangu Beast is approaching. Watch our backs while we seek refuge back on the island.”
Barbarian, puzzled by the sudden decision to retreat back to the island, hastily said, “I don’t think we need to go back. With the fog so thick, it’s unlikely the Pangu Beast will spot our ship.”
To ng Xiuluo’s astonishnt, there was no response at the door of the cheap bargain’s room. Without caring what inappropriate act the two might be engaged in inside, he kicked the door open only to find the room completely empty, which utterly dumbfounded him.
Suspicion imdiately arose, and he looked towards Barbarian. It had only been four hours since Barbarian inford him that the cheap bargain and the girl had boarded the ship. He asked, “Barbarian, what the hell is going on?”
Barbarian was at a loss for words.
The short one said, “They must have gone to get sothing to eat and haven’t co back yet.”
How could they still be in the mood to eat, with the sound of the Pangu Beast as if it were right beside them?
ng Xiuluo turned to Xiang Yi and instructed, “Have them turn the ship around and head back to the island.”
Xiang Yi was taken aback.
Having left the island four hours ago, they were indeed quite a distance away. She said, “We could hide in the fog; it’s likely we’ll be safe.”
“Exactly, we don’t need to run all the way back,” the short one chid in, while their leader Barbarian dared not speak.
ng Xiuluo disagreed, “If sothing goes wrong, it will be terrible. Once targeted, if nobody assists us, we can only sink the ship. If we return to the island, there are still so traps we can use,” she deliberated.
At their base, they had left behind several traps. Ever since learning of the presence of the Pangu Beast on the island, they had set up traps around their base for an ergency. If the Pangu Beast indeed appeared at their base, they could handle it sowhat. Over several days, they had prepared many traps. Although they hadn’t been used later, the traps remained in place.
“The fog is thick; we should be able to hide,” the short one still sowhat disbelieved.
ng Xiuluo, now irritated, exclaid, “Oh, when did my orders stop being followed?”
The short one quickly bowed his head.
ng Xiuluo ordered, “Turn the ship around and head back imdiately.” If the ship was destroyed on the island, at least they would have a place to stay.
Barbarian called out urgently, “Let’s turn around and return to the island.” Although reluctant, he dared not disregard ng Xiuluo’s words, especially now that she was clearly angry.
“Luckily, we didn’t get too far out,” ng Xiuluo called out again, “Tell everyone to prepare imdiately; the great monster is coming.”
Xiang Yi hurried below, and in no ti, the entire ship sprang into action.
After making preparations, ng Xiuluo looked at Barbarian and demanded, “What the hell happened? Did you kill them both?” She was suspicious, and indeed sowhat angry, knowing only Barbarian would dare to conceal such matters from her.
Unable to remain silent any longer, Barbarian hastily explained, “They are still on the island, not killed, just… they didn’t board the ship.”
ng Xiuluo still couldn’t believe it and asked, “How was it all done?”
The diminutive figure wanted to take responsibility on behalf of the Barbarian, fearing ng Xiuluo would get angry at the Barbarian.
As a result, when ng Xiuluo said, “Shut your mouth,” the petite one dared not speak anymore. ng Xiuluo knew very well that without the Barbarian’s consent and his organization, it would not have been so silent.
The Barbarian knew he could no longer hide and recounted the whole process, since they had to return to the island eventually and the matter would co to light sooner or later.
“That’s quite a clever plan, how co I didn’t know you were so capable?”
The Barbarian hung his head.
One of the subordinates behind him said, “If that kid leaves the deserted island, he will definitely join forces with the Immortal and Demon realms to fight against our Dragon Slaying Clan, so we did this just to be on the safe side.”
ng Xiuluo was sowhat choked up when she heard this. She recalled how the Barbarian had suggested to her to take the Wolf King’s Ring from that kid’s hands, but she had refused twice. It was probably because of this that the Barbarian had made up his mind to do what he did. Blaming him seed not quite right.
It must have been because she had feelings for the kid, so she helped her to reason for a while. Actually, she did feel sowhat reluctant to kill the kid recently, and had been quite hesitant.
“Alright, let’s quickly block off the Pangu Beast and head back to the island first.” ng Xiuluo did not continue to bla the Barbarian; he was also considering the welfare of the Dragon Slaying Clan, concerned there might be a repeat of the defeat they suffered in Demon Palace City.
The sound of the Pangu Beast was getting closer.
It was noon.
Ye Chen, like a stone awaiting the return of a husband, looked out at the sea; Guo Yuyun had lost all hope, sitting like a dumbfounded chicken, no longer speaking.
“I think it’s necessary to leave you with a child. Even if I really die, at least soone would keep you company.”
What a flighty thinker.
“But that would be too painful. If the child can’t leave this damn island, they would still end up lonely and alone. A son wouldn’t even be able to find a wife, and a daughter… would end up playing beauty and the beast. This just won’t do.”
“How could those people be so cruel!”
“I told you to listen to this morning to stay on the boat, but you didn’t listen. Now you regret it, don’t you? If you had stayed on the boat, none of this would have happened.”
Had it not been for her worry that those people might be up to no good, she would not have gone up the mountain. Yun’er spoke fiercely, “You still have the nerve to bla ? If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have ended up in this state.”
“Yes, indeed, I’m not denying my responsibility.”
“I should just leave you alone on the island to keep the monsters company.”
Ye Chen chuckled and said, “Ah, it seems all of this is fate, and what can we do against fate? We’ll just have to revert to savagery. We need to plan well how to live from now on. But if I really lose my mind or die, leaving you here alone… that would be too pitiful.”
“We need to build a boat,” Guo Yuyun declared.
“You know how to build a boat? Don’t joke. Even if you manage to build one, I wouldn’t board it. Drowning at sea is no better than dying alone on an island,” murmured Ye Chen.
“Ah… ah… what are we going to do?” Guo Yuyun, as if she had been suppressing it for a long ti, wailed like a madwoman.
Ye Chen was startled by her sudden cry, saying, “Don’t beco hysterical even before I do. You should wait until I lose my mind before you do. You have to take care of , not the other way around.”
Guo Yuyun glared at Ye Chen.
Ye Chen continued, “See, you said that being with , nothing else mattered. Now, you see your idea was wrong, very wrong!” Standing up, he added, “Well, I’m hungry. Let’s fill our stomachs first and then get a good sleep. We can think about how to live with the monsters later.”
Guo Yuyun, utterly dejected, thought how insensitive the guy could be, talking as if none of this concerned him, as if she had brought it all on herself. How could he be so self-righteous?
She kicked him hard.
“Don’t do that. If you cripple , you’ll be responsible for the food. I don’t think you have mastered the skills needed to hunt. You might end up like a she-monkey in a tree, always eating fruits, with no at for you,” he said.
