I needed to leave him and as soon as possible, but I didn’t know how I could achieve that. My past experiences have taught quite directly that I couldn’t truly run away from Bradon. Escaping from the mansion was unquestionably impossible. I could not run away, so that ant that I needed to get Bradon to agree to let leave.
My legs already felt weak, and I wanted nothing more than to crawl into bed and shut my eyes to escape reality. I knew that I needed to talk to Bradon about ending our fake marriage as soon as possible, although I had no idea how to bring up the topic. Sothing told that it might prove to be difficult to get Bradon to agree, and there was always a risk that he might react unpredictably.
However, if everything he did was simply him just acting out his role and his feelings for didn’t truly exist, then that might be the solution to all of my problems. If he felt no attachnt to , then he should have no problem letting go just as planned. After all, I did achieve pretty much everything that I set out to, and the prestigious Alnault family was no more. It was true that my sister would suffer so repercussions, but knowing just how smart and manipulative my sister could be, I was certain that she could turn everything and everyone in her favor.
"Now, all that’s left for to worry about is how I should part ways with Bradon," I murmured to myself.
Knock, knock, knock.
The sudden sound of soone knocking on my bedroom door snapped out of my thoughts. My entire body stiffened because I knew exactly who was standing on the other side of the door even before I heard his familiar voice.
"Are you okay, Dahlia?" Bradon asked with clear concern in his voice.
"I’m fine. I’m about to go to bed now," I replied without opening the door.
It felt like not just so long ago that we were able to stand side by side proudly and function very well as a team; however, now there felt like there was an uncomfortable distance between us that I dared not cross. I just couldn’t bring myself to face him at that mont, and that was probably because I feared that if I saw his face, my determination would waver.
"Good night," Bradon told through the door quite simply.
"Good night," I replied.
...
A Few Days Later
Despite having made up my mind that I should leave Bradon for good, I found myself avoiding him like the plague. The conversation that needed to happen between us never took place. I acted like I had all the ti in the world to make up my mind on how to broach the topic. Every morning when I woke up, I told myself that today would be the day that I would talk to him about ending our sham of a marriage for good. With a renewed sense of determination, I would get out of bed and quickly get dressed so that I would catch Bradon in ti before he left for work. I would make my way quickly down the stairs to the living room where I knew that I could find him; however, as my feet took closer and closer to where he was, my determination slowly died until there was none left.
"Good morning, Leya," Bradon greeted casually when he laid eyes on .
The way his eyes seed to light up when he saw and the way that his beautiful lips curved into a welcoming smile made my heart flutter so fast in my chest that for a mont I didn’t know how to react. I was so taken aback by how charming he looked and also how natural and perfect the scene unfolding right in front of was. An unwanted thought slowly crept into my mind before I could put a stop to it. I wondered what life would turn out to be like if the two of us could be together, living as man and wife. The vision that I saw in my mind felt dangerously tempting.
Although the way that he greeted was casual enough, sothing seed off with Bradon. I wasn’t sure exactly what it was, but sothing about him was different from normal. It looked like he was worried about sothing or in a rush to go off sowhere, which was quite unusual. I suddenly felt like ti was quickly running out for to start a proper conversation with him to talk about my planned departure from his estate and his life.
My chest grew tighter than before as I unknowingly laced my fingers together when my nervousness suddenly took over. While I fumbled with unspoken words in my mind, Bradon looked at before he smiled.
"Is there sothing that you need?" he asked, while maintaining his sweet smile as if he was there to serve .
"Umm..." I mumbled.
Bradon stared at in silence for around three seconds before he stood up from his seat. When his eyes left my face, I knew that I had completely missed my opportunity to talk to him that morning. My failure didn’t even surprise because it wasn’t the first ti that I had failed to bring up the very important topic that I needed to discuss with Bradon.
"Are you going sowhere?" I asked curiously.
It wasn’t abnormal for Bradon to head out for work, but sothing about the air around him and the way that he was acting told that his destination may be different for the day. The look that Bradon gave told that I had just hit the nail right on the head. I couldn’t help but wonder where exactly he was headed to and for what purpose.
