Not having the experience of being a criminal before, I wasn’t quite sure how one was supposed to be treated, but the experiences that I went through might have indeed been close. I thought that I was used to disappointing my parents and the people around . I thought that I was used to seeing the look of disappointnt and disapproval in their eyes before it beca a look of resentnt and then complete apathy and lack of care. I thought that I could deal with everything without getting my emotions involved because, after all, I was supposed to be used to this kind of treatnt, and that was why I was caught utterly off guard by how quickly things escalated.

Thinking back on it, my mories were quite blurry. Either it was simply too much for to take in at the ti for my brain to form any clear mories, or it was simply too shocking and too harsh for to take. Either way, everything seed to fly by and over my head.

Although every single teacher and the principal tried to keep the situation under control, they failed in every single aspect. The news was out, and it had leaked way beyond the walls of the school. Of course, my parents found out along with pretty much everybody else that had access to the internet. Sitting all alone in the principal’s office in complete silence when I knew that a storm was raging outside felt extrely ironic, and so did this strange sense of calm that seed to envelop in that mont. It truly was the calm before the storm, and I was determined to enjoy it while it lasted.

The first person who entered the room to talk to was, not surprisingly, the principal. The look that he gave told that he wished he didn’t have to be the one to deal with this issue. I was definitely a big headache to him, and he was just interested in minimizing the harm to both himself and the school.

"Can you try to explain what happened just now?" the principal asked as he sat down in his seat with his eyes directly pinned on .

"It’s just as you saw. I was eting up with my boyfriend," I replied quite emotionlessly.

"Are you saying that Mr. Malton is your boyfriend?" the principal asked with narrowed eyes.

"Yes," I replied without any further explanation.

"Do you even understand the gravity of the situation and what you’ve done?" the principal asked.

"Listen, if you want to expel , you can go ahead and do it. There’s no need for you to lecture or ask any useless questions," I replied before rolling my eyes upwards toward the ceiling. His entrance had broken my peace, and his questions had broken the silence that I had been enjoying. In my mind, I had already completed what I set out to do, and I wasn’t about to endure a lecture from a man who only saw one party to bla in this entire situation.

"What about Mr. Malton? Will he lose his job too?" I asked before flashing the principal a sweet smile. I wanted to remind him that I wasn’t the only party to bla and that soone else had to share the damage as well.

"That doesn’t concern you. You should worry about yourself and your future and no one else’s," the principal replied in a clipped tone.

"What about you? Are you truly worried about my future right now, Principal?" I asked before letting out a scoff.

My words caught him off guard, and all he could do was glare at from across the table.

"Mr. Malton is a married man. Did you not know this?" the principal asked, although he probably already knew the answer.

"He told that he’s going to divorce his wife," I replied passively.

"The institution of marriage is very sacred and highly respected in this country. Your irresponsible actions are going to ruin your life, his, and also his family," the principal began lecturing .

"Am I supposed to break down and cry right now or sothing?" I asked sarcastically. I felt like everything was just collateral damage. Mr. Malton’s marriage and his relationship with his wife and my future-everything was just collateral damage, and in a sense, that ant it wasn’t a big deal.

"Mr. Malton and his wife are expecting a child together. Their baby is on the way. Did you know that?" the principal asked coldly. His words splashed on like a bucket full of ice water, leaving stunned and my face numb. Of course, I didn’t know that, and I wasn’t sure whether Diana knew about it either.

"Well, I guess that just proves that my boyfriend and her precious husband is a two-faced liar. Although right now, I’m not sure who exactly is the fool," I replied with a shrug of my shoulders.

Before the principal could say anything else, I quickly got up from my seat before announcing my departure.

"I’m leaving," I stated simply before turning on my heels and heading straight to the door.

...

Facing the principal was one thing, but facing my parents was quite another. Both my parents turned up that day to pick up from school, sothing that had never happened before throughout my life. By the ti they arrived, the news had already spread like wildfire, and many paparazzi were swarming the front gates of the school.

My father had an emotionless look on his face that told he was boiling with anger just beneath the surface, while my mother, on the other hand, looked visibly distressed. The only thing that made our ride ho together that day less awkward was Diana’s presence. If nothing else, her face gave a place to rest my gaze during the ride, in which no one said a single word. I could only imagine the hell that was awaiting the mont we arrived ho and the door closed behind us so that our family could dissect the entire matter in private.
