Chapter 2001: 564: Agreed on a wedding date_5

So, she’s not afraid of her parents at all!

Just wait and see.

In less than three days, her parents will beg her to co back.

Mrs. Sumr watched Jean Beckman’s retreating back, so angry that she had a heart attack.

A servant by her side noticed sothing was wrong and imdiately ran over to help Mrs. Sumr up, “Madam, are you alright?”

Only then did Mrs. Sumr regain consciousness, “Unfilial daughter! This unfilial daughter!”

After speaking, Mrs. Sumr turned to the servant and continued, “Go call Mr. Beckman! Tell him to co back imdiately!”

She must have a second child now.

Mrs. Sumr’s desire to have a second child has never been stronger.

She once reflected on whether it was her fault that Jean Beckman had beco what she was now.

But later she realized that was not the case.

Jean Beckman was so audacious because she was confident her parents had no other children and would have to depend on her eventually.

The only thing Mrs. Sumr regretted was not seeing through the nature of things earlier in her youth.

The servant nodded, “Alright, I’ll contact Mr. Beckman right away.”

March 2nd.

It had been over two months since she went ho to be with her parents, and the base was urging Viola Thompson to return every day; she had no choice but to go back.

And she needed to make a trip to Capital University anyway.

Mary Perryne saw Viola off at the airport, “Viola, you must take good care of yourself when you’re on your own. Send a video imdiately after you arrive to let us know you’re safe.”

Viola nodded slightly, “Mom, I’ll take good care of myself, don’t worry.”

Although Mary was reluctant to part with her daughter, she knew that she had grown up and had to fly back to her own sky eventually.

As a parent, she couldn’t beco a burden to her daughter.

Mary then said, “Go ahead, Viola. They will be checking tickets soon.”

Viola embraced Mary tightly and whispered, “Mom, you and dad need to take care of yourselves at ho. I’ll send a video when I get there, and I’ll co back ho as soon as I’m done with the things at hand.”

“Mhm.” Mary tried her best not to cry, and smiled, “Go ahead, Viola.”

Viola turned and walked towards the entrance.

Mary stood at a distance, watching, until she saw on the airport’s big screen that the plane Viola was on had taken off. Only then did she turn and leave.

The Astir family has confird the date for the eting of both sets of parents.

The location is set at a grand hotel.

Mary was delighted and began to prepare gifts.

While shopping at the mall, she saw the Beckmans shopping too.

Mary greeted them actively, “Jean’s mom, Jean’s dad! How rare to see you both out shopping together!”

Mr. Beckman was very busy and Mrs. Sumr usually shopped alone.

That’s why Mary was so surprised.

Mrs. Sumr smiled and replied, “It just so happens there’s nothing much at the company today!”

“No wonder,” Mary continued, “I haven’t seen your daughter Jean for a long while? Has she gone abroad again?”

Mrs. Sumr replied, “Yes, she’s gone traveling.”

Hearing this, Mary beca even more puzzled.

Jean Beckman wasn’t supposed to return to take over the family business?

How could he still have ti to go on a trip?

That’s odd.

But Mary Perryne didn’t give it much thought, and went on to say, “Mrs. Beckman, I still want to look around here, let’s talk more later.”

“Sure.”

Having walked a few steps, Mary Perryne reacted, turning her head to glance back.

Did that couple just co out of… a maternity and baby store?

Mary Perryne widened her eyes in realization!

Who in their family is pregnant?

Jean Beckman?

Seeing her like this, Sawyer Thompson asked with curiosity, “What are you looking at?”

Mary Perryne then said, “Did you notice which store Mr. and Mrs. Beckman just ca out of?”

“Where?” asked Sawyer Thompson.

Lowering her voice, Mary Perryne said, “A maternity and baby store! Do you think this couple is planning on having a second child?”

Upon hearing this, Sawyer Thompson said with an unimpressed tone, “Don’t just say anything. How old are they to be having a second child!”

Laughing, Mary Perryne said, “I’m just saying, but having a second child isn’t impossible, have you not seen the news about old couples in their sixties or seventies having second children? Besides, Mr. and Mrs. Beckman aren’t that old yet!”

Sawyer Thompson thought it was a preposterous idea and naturally didn’t continue the topic.

The day for the two families to et arrived quickly.

William Astir and Olivia Armstrong took this eting very seriously and made sure to prepare themselves.

Mary Perryne and Sawyer Thompson also did the sa.

Both sets of parents sat in front of a large round table. Sawyer Thompson took the initiative to raise his glass and said, “In-laws, mother-in-law, I believe I can address you this way now. Thank you both for bringing up such an excellent daughter; my good-for-nothing son is lucky to have her!”

It’s human nature to enjoy complints, and William Astir along with Olivia Armstrong were no exceptions.

“In-law, what are you talking about! Your son Brandon is also excellent! My daughter is lucky to marry Brandon,” said William Astir, and continued, “I feel a bit embarrassed to say this, but neither Isla’s mom nor I have much education, so we might not always say the right things. If we say anything inappropriate, please be forgiving.”

Sawyer Thompson carried on, “Actually, I really admire both of you. Though you co from ordinary backgrounds, the daughter you have raised is second to none in Capital City. I’ll finish this drink as a mark of respect!” With that, Sawyer Thompson downed his glass of white alcohol in one sip.

William Astir also finished his drink in one gulp, “Then let all be said through this glass.”

The parents conversed happily with one another.

Mary Perryne followed up, “Mother-in-law, here’s what I’m thinking: Isla is your only daughter, so on holidays, the young couple could have lunch with us, and dinner at your place. For the New Year, they could spend one year with one family and alternate the years. Both of our families are in Capital City, we’re close by, so the kids can co and visit for New Year’s Day, too! What do you think?”

Since they were going to be in-laws, certain matters indeed needed to be discussed in advance.

Olivia Armstrong nodded, “I agree, let’s do as you’ve suggested.”

What Mary Perryne proposed was both reasonable and proper, so naturally, she agreed.

Before the eting, Olivia Armstrong was worried that Brandon’s parents might look down on them because they were from the countryside.

After eting them, she realized that true intellectuals would never hold such a view.

At the end of the dinner, Sawyer Thompson lit up a cigarette, then turned to look at William Astir and said, “In-law, our son Brandon isn’t getting any younger, and the two kids really do love each other. If possible, I’d like to set their wedding date on October 1st. How do you and mother-in-law feel about that?”

William Astir looked at Olivia Armstrong, then nodded, “We have no objections, it mainly depends on Isla. If she has no issues, then let’s set it on October 1st.”

Isla Astir: “…”

She truly didn’t expect things to progress this fast; the parents had arranged their marriage during their first eting.
