Facing Jiang Man’s questioning, Zheng Jianjiang’s eyes darted around.
He knew once he admitted his guilt, the issues he was facing would land him in jail for more than a decade.
So he was still arguing.
"Vice Chairman Jiang, I, I, I was just beaten up by this kid for no reason, and I’m willing to let it go for your sake, taking this beating for nothing. But, I really haven’t done anything terribly wrong, what do you want to confess to?"
Jiang Man’s face turned iron blue, as if she was pondering sothing.
And at this mont, Xu Xiaong spoke through her sobs.
"You’re lying; you clearly threatened first, demanding I do that sort of thing with you. I refused, and then you assaulted . If Brother Zhang hadn’t arrived in ti, I... I would’ve been violated by you..."
"Nonsense, you, show the evidence," Zheng Jianjiang was certain that during the incident, only he and Xu Xiaong were present – there were no witnesses, and even Zhang Xiaoshan, who arrived later, didn’t see the entire sequence of events.
He believed that as long as he kept a firm stance today, he could get through this.
"You..."
Xu Xiaong was so infuriated that her face turned red and her ears grew hot, but indeed, she had no evidence at the mont.
"Bastard, I’ll kill you..."
Suddenly, Mr. Xu, who had been unconscious in the hospital bed, angrily spoke up.
"What?"
Zheng Jianjiang turned in astonishnt, only to see Mr. Xu, who had been at death’s door, now with his eyes open and glaring fiercely at him.
"How did you wake up?"
"You’re still alive?"
Zheng Jianjiang’s dical ethics were poor, but he was nonetheless a veteran doctor with decades of experience. He had already written off Mr. Xu as a lost cause, and yet, Mr. Xu had actually awakened.
He looked at Zhang Xiaoshan, sowhat astonished- could dical skill really be this miraculous?
"Dad."
Seeing Mr. Xu awake, Xu Xiaong imdiately rushed over, knelt beside the hospital bed, and started crying as she hugged his arm.
All the nervousness and grievances turned into tears.
"You’re finally awake; you scared to death. If sothing really happened to you, I wouldn’t want to live either."
"Child, don’t be foolish. I’m a useless father who has dragged you down. I thought I was done for, but thanks to this young man’s excellent dical skills, he kept breathing," Mr. Xu said, his gaze solemnly turning to Zhang Xiaoshan.
"Thank you, young man, for saving my life, especially for preserving my daughter’s innocence. If I, Xu Chihu, ever have the chance to turn my fortunes around, I will make sure to repay this debt of gratitude," Mr. Xu spoke with seriousness.
Zhang Xiaoshan smiled faintly.
"I get along well with Little ng; I was just doing what I should."
Jiang Man, hearing this, glanced at Xu Xiaong’s well-developed figure and pretty face, then fixed a strange look on Zhang Xiaoshan’s back.
Zhang Xiaoshan, catching Jiang Man’s look, imdiately realized she was jealous...
Fortunately, Xu Chihu changed the subject at that mont.
Pointing at Zheng Jianjiang, Xu Chihu addressed Luo Yihua.
"I, I can testify. Even though I appeared to be unconscious on the bed, I could still hear things. I heard every word from this old bastard loud and clear; I can bear witness."
"No, no, you’re her father; your words cannot be trusted. I, I’m being frad. Vice Chairman Jiang, Director Luo, you, you must believe , I..." Zheng Jianjiang imdiately panicked.
Jiang Man looked towards Director Luo.
"What do you think?"
Director Luo imdiately replied.
"We all arrived at the scene promptly, and the patient had just woken up. There was no chance for the father and daughter to collude. If we separate them and their statents match up with over eighty percent similarity, we can convict Zheng Jianjiang."
"It’s over..."
Once Director Luo made this statent, Zheng Jianjiang, clinging to a sliver of hope, collapsed to the ground, bursting into tears and pleading.
"I, I confess, I turn myself in, it’s, it’s my first offense, and I, I didn’t cause any real harm to the girl, please, I beg the governnt for leniency."
"Leniency? If it had been ten years earlier, I would have chopped you to pieces," Xu Chihu, red-faced and with widened eyes, glared at Zheng Jianjiang from the bed and rebuked.
Zhang Xiaoshan, on the other hand, comforted Xu Chihu.
"Uncle Xu, don’t worry, this scoundrel won’t get off lightly today."
As he spoke, Zhang Xiaoshan threw a dical prescription in front of Zheng Jianjiang.
"Do you recognize this?"
Zheng Jianjiang picked it up to look.
"Isn’t this the prescription I wrote? What, what are you implying?"
