Mark wouldn't be surprised if Loki was the god who made the leader of that organization sacrifice people. Loki didn't hide his hatred for humanity when he was speaking to Mark, and Mark knew that Loki was on the side of the anima. It was only sensible to think that he would've been pulling strings for so long.
Mark spoke up.
"This group that you're talking about, what's their na?"
Genshi humd and looked up to the ceiling.
"Their na has been constantly changing over the past few years to go along with their new doctrine and ambitions. But by the ti I last heard from my sources, they told that the na they had adopted was Syndicate."
Mark's hand tightened into a fist, and he had to release a quiet sigh to calm himself. Those fucking bastards had been a thorn in Mark's side for far too long now. Not only had they been sending anima after him, but now they were trying to up the stakes by sending human-anima hybrids as well! Mark needed to end this once and for all.
gumi spoke up calmly.
"You didn't tell ?"
Genshi sighed and shook his head. Genshi hadn't told gumi any of this because he believed there would be no point. For sothing as powerful as the Syndicate, you need to infiltrate them and destroy them from the inside. Defeating a few of them or killing off their leader wouldn't do anything to stop them. It would just make their cause stronger because they would think that the world was against them.
That was just how cults worked.
"You were an emotionless killing machine, gumi. That is what you were best suited for. Telling you about this wouldn't have made any difference because there was nothing you could've done."
gumi still showed no emotion, but inside her heart, she felt hurt that Genshi called her an emotionless killing machine. He was right about what she was, but that didn't an she liked it.
Mark gave Genshi an order.
"You're going to open the port and allow the Vanguard guild to enter Japan."
This finally got Genshi's attention. Genshi sat up straight in his chair and narrowed his eyes at Mark. At that mont, he was no longer the frail old man sitting in the chair. It was the leader of the Japanese Superhuman Alliance, steadfast in his hatred for any form of corruption towards his country.
Genshi spoke with a sneer.
"You think that just because you heard of my past, you have a right to order to do anything? I did not tell you that to form any bond between us, but because I felt you deserved to know the people that were after your life. Do not think for a mont that this changes anything between our two countries."
Stubborn bastard. Mark glared at Genshi and slamd a fist into the sturdy table, sending a crack through it.
"You have no idea what you're playing with here, Genshi. These people aren't just ritualists anymore. They aren't just kidnapping people like you think! They are trying to erase humanity as a whole! Do you really think they want to beco gods? There's no way for a human to do that! The gods don't give a shit about what happens to us anymore! They've chosen their side, and now they are all just waiting to see who cos out on top in this fight! And those bastards have chosen the side of the anima! I swear to you, Genshi, I am not going to sacrifice the people I love because of your fucking vendetta against Arica. I will fuck your country over and destroy all of it to get to the Syndicate if you don't let do things my way! That's a fucking promise!"
Genshi stood up angrily as he glared at Mark.
"You think you can threaten , boy!?"
DOOM!
Mark's pressure surged through the room like a tsunami as Mark shouted!
"Sit. Down!"
Genshi imdiately fell back to his ass in shock as he felt his legs go weak from the sheer power he could feel coming off Mark at that mont! The entire Superhuman Alliance building was shaking down to its foundations as the power of a demi-god ripped through its structure, and one more push from Mark would be enough to erase it from existence!
Mark glared down at Genshi in anger.
"Say another word, and I'll fucking kill you. You think I'm playing with you? The Syndicate took away my mother, they took my father, and my friends. They have taken more from than you will ever understand, and they are still trying to take even more. I have blood on my hands already, Genshi. If I have to add yours to it to save the people I have left, then I will end your life in a heartbeat."
Genshi gritted his teeth in his mouth but didn't say anything back as he just stared up at Mark. Sweat was pooling on Genshi's forehead, and Genshi couldn't understand what Mark was saying about not being a god anymore. What would you call a creature with this much power if not a god?
A hand suddenly touched Mark on the shoulder, and Mark turned his head to the side to see gumi looking up at him calmly. gumi also had so sweat pooling on her forehead, and she was trying her best to withstand the intense pressure that Mark was releasing.
gumi pointed to her forehead while nodding at Mark, and Mark frowned in mild surprise before he agreed and activated the [Symbol of Gaia]. The blessing connected Mark's mind with gumi's own, and Mark felt that sa rush of mories that he would always feel when he connected with another human mind. The pain from the connection was practically non-existent now, so in less than a minute, Mark and gumi's minds were connected, and gumi felt her mouth curling into a smile.
Genshi felt his eyes widen in shock as he saw what was happening with gumi. She was smiling? When was the last ti Genshi saw gumi make any form of expression? Genshi heard from so of the people that watched her video from the tournant that there was a ti when gumi shouted and rejoiced after they won their fight against the strongest anima on the island, but Genshi thought that it was just so sort of joke that they were playing! He thought that they just thought gumi had done that because of the intensity of the situation. Maybe they mistook soone else for gumi.
But now he knew that they weren't lying!
"gumi. What? How can you smile?"
gumi's smile widened and she turned to Genshi with a sigh. She didn't bother answering his question because she didn't know how long this would last, so she just got down to business and dropped a bomb on Genshi.
"I am officially joining the Vanguard guild from this mont forward. Genshi, if you don't open the border to the Vanguard guild and allow them into the country, then you will be locking out as well, and I will leave Japan and reside permanently in Arica."
Genshi's entire body shook from the sudden revelation, and he stood up and slamd his hand on the table so hard that the entire thing split in half and fell to the ground with a thud!
"You can't do that! Do you know what you're saying!? You're the only thing standing between this country and the anima that appear! Who is going to handle Eldritch anima as quickly as you?!"
