Mark raised his hand in the air and gumi thought that Mark was about to unleash another [Storm Chaser], but she was shocked when she saw Mark's hands crackling with electricity and she had to imdiately put her hand up as a Thunder Bolt flashed out from Mark's hand and slamd into her!
Mark watched as the Thunder Bolt shot gumi further back, and he frowned as he realized that there was sothing wrong. Was gumi allowing him to attack her relentlessly? Mark knew that he was stronger than gumi, but he didn't yet know if he was faster than her. The fact that he was able to catch up to her and then catch her off guard seed too suspicious.
'From what I saw yesterday, she was able to move a lot faster than this. Is she trying to test and see how much power I have before she reveals her own abilities?'
Mark had no idea if this was true or not, but the truth was that Mark just didn't have the freedom to draw out the fight and find out if he was correct about his assumption! Mark had to finish this off quickly and get out of there. Mark had already used up more than two minutes in the five!
ROARRRR!
An anima appeared from the side and tried to attack Mark in a sneak attack, but Mark didn't even move as an invisible chain shot out and grabbed the anima before slamming it into the ground and snapping its neck in half. There were hundreds of anima on this island, and Mark had already killed more than ten of them, but he didn't have the ti to get the crystals out from their bodies, so he didn't think that they would count toward his team's points at all.
BOOM!
Mark had to turn away from the anima that he just killed when he noticed sothing change in the atmosphere! gumi's mana, which had been calm and almost easy-going before, was now raging like a wildfire and Mark felt his heart rate spike as he brought his hand up and tightened his gauntlet. Mark realized at that mont that gumi was done with her experint and was no longer playing around.
'Let's see what you've got.'
gumi appeared from where Mark had blown her into and Mark grinned as he saw her coming out with a purple haze surrounding her. Mark imdiately activated his [True Sight]!

The purple haze almost seed to erode the ground under her. Every step gumi took made the lush green leaves and vibrant trees turn dull and grey, and it wasn't long before many of them began to die out and decay. What the actual hell was that?
Mark couldn't stop this thought from coming to his mind as he watched gumi. Even after seeing her stats again, Mark still wasn't able to tell what her power was, so that ant that Mark was going to have to do this the old-fashioned way and figure out gumi's power by himself. Mark narrowed his eyes as he watched gumi put her hand on a tree beside her and the tree imdiately started to wilt and dry out, and it wasn't long before the entire thing just turned to deadwood.
Mark felt a deep sense of 'wrongness' coming from the power that gumi just used and an irritation spread through him at that mont. Mark was surprised that he was irritated at all and he wondered what the hell was making him feel that way, but it wasn't long before he realized that it wasn't his irritation that he was feeling. It was Gaia's irritation. Mark had beco very close to nature in the months since he started using the 'Symbol of Gaia' skill, so watching gumi treat nature in such a horrid way left a bad taste in his mouth.
'Is her power sothing related to decay? No, I don't think so. The trees aren't decaying, they're just wilting. Almost like they're having their life pulled out of them.'
ZOOM!
A flash of purple light suddenly spread across the area quickly as gumi unleashed her mana and the first thing that entered Mark's mind in that next mont was 'run'. Mark hated it.
He hated the fact that such a word could even appear in his mind at all, but Mark had learned to trust his instincts more than anything else and since his instincts were telling him not to get caught in whatever that was, Mark decided that he would do just that!
[Crown of The Golden Horizon] has been activated!
Mark imdiately activated the golden shield just as the purple light got to him and he watched as the light slamd into the shield with extre force before it spread out around the area and continued on its way to surround the rest of the field. The grass and trees that the purple light touched suffered the sa fate as the first tree that gumi had murdered.
But the purple light couldn't do anything at all to Mark because of the golden hue around him. Mark first thought about using the [Aegis of Ares] to try and negate the attack, but Mark figured that gumi might be strong enough to get past the Aegis' defenses, so he figured it was better to play it safe.
gumi crouched into a ready stance and Mark was surprised that she was even thinking about throwing an attack from all the way out there! There was no way her sword was going to reach—
ZOOM!
[Ignorance of the Death God] has been activated!
Mark's body moved on its own! He crouched and ducked his head down as a sharp purple light flashed across the area where his neck had just been! Mark had completely forgotten what this sensation felt like. That indescribable shock that ca from knowing that you were just a mont away from death!
How the fuck did she get through the [Crown of The Golden Horizon]?
This thought passed through Mark's mind as he rolled over to the side and avoided another slash from gumi as she tried to stab him again! Mark might've been shocked by the first blow that almost seed like she vanished, but after seeing it once, it was impossible for her to use it on him again!
gumi, on the other hand, was shocked! gumi actually thought that she would be able to at least hurt Mark using that first strike. gumi would've stopped just before killing him, but she really thought that she would be able to take him out of the competition right there! How in the world did he dodge it!?
