Chapter 93: I Don’t Understand Anything

Gina wanted to know what happened to Jason in the few hours since she last saw him. Who the hell this woman was. How Jason got her. Why she was unconscious and what the hell Jason was doing with her in the first place! And in the end, only one question could cover all those bases at the sa ti: why was the woman in her back seat?

Jason put on his seat belt with a small laugh and told Gina to just drive first.

"I’ll explain as you drive. Let’s get out of here."

Gina narrowed her eyes at Jason in slight curiosity, and for a mont she thought about not moving until Jason gave her an answer. But she finally sighed and decided to give Jason the benefit of the doubt. She trusted him enough to know that he would have a good enough explanation for all this.

"I just hope you didn’t kidnap her."

Gina said this before starting the car, and Jason couldn’t help but burst out in laughter! Gina smiled before turning out of the driveway and into the street. Gina already knew the road back to Riverdale by heart since she had been to New York many tis in the past for her guild work, so she didn’t bother putting all her attention on the road as she spoke up a few seconds later.

"So? What happened?"

Jason was leaning back on the car seat and he spoke up with a small smile.

"You really don’t waste ti, do you?"

"Jason..."

Jason laughed.

"Okay, fine. What do you want to know first?"

"Where did you find this woman? And why the hell are we taking her with us?"

Jason allowed his jovial expression to even out into a look of seriousness and he narrowed his eyes and stared ahead while talking.

"I found her when I was clearing out an orange gate."

Screech~!

For a split second, Gina lost control of the car when she heard what Jason just said, but she was sharp enough to catch the car and bring it back under her control before anything could happen! She turned to Jason with wide-eyed shock and told him to repeat that!

"You what!?"

"I was clearing out an orange gate and I saved her life."

"Jason... just sigh~ Just start from the beginning. Please. This is going right over my head. I can’t really understand what you’re telling . What do you an you went into an orange gate? There weren’t any announcents on the SMD website. And you’re saying you found her in there and brought her back? Doesn’t that an that she’s a Magical Beast?"

Jason frowned. He knew that explaining things would be difficult. Especially since Gina had been a part of the superhuman world for far longer than he had. Gina had been working as a superhuman for the better part of five years now. She had close to twenty Gate Dives under her belt and a concrete understanding of Gates, Magical Crystals, and Magical Beasts.

If Jason told her the truth that his father had told him, then it would change a lot of the things that she thought were true. But he knew that he couldn’t leave her in the dark, especially if he wanted her help with all of this.

"Alright. I need you to just listen to everything that I have to say. It’ll sound crazy and you probably wouldn’t believe any of it right away, but just listen, alright?"

Jason turned to look into Gina’s eyes and Gina gave him a glance before she tightened her hand against the steering wheel and nodded to say that she was listening. Once Jason saw that, he started to explain what had happened.

"There’s a lot more to the Gates than what the humans know. We all think that the gates were just random occurrences that appeared one day, but they aren’t. The Gates were created by massive accumulation of mana in different places around the world, and the person who brought that mana to the world and created the first Gate is a creature from another world known as a Primordial. Wait—you said you would listen..."

Jason suddenly stopped Gina from talking when he saw her perk up. Her brow was furrowed and she looked like she had a million questions on her tongue, but she calmly relaxed when Jason told her to wait and she nodded.

"I don’t know much about the Primordial, except that it is the reason why my father disappeared ten years ago, and its plan is to conquer Earth. When my father vanished, he left a present for

that would only activate when I ca of age. That present was what activated my Gift and allowed

to survive in the Red Gate. And it was that present that allowed

to find a Dinsional Tear that would eventually open into an Orange Gate.

"I went into the Dinsional Tear and I carried out a Gate Dive with the monsters I collected from the Red Gate."

"Monsters? I thought you had just one?"

Jason grinned.

"I never said that."

"Yes, you did! You only showed

one monster!"

Jason shrugged. Just because he showed one monster didn’t an he had only one monster. Gina’s cheeks grew red in an angry blush! She couldn’t believe he was trying to play coy here!

"How many do you have then?"

"About four hundred."

"WHAT!?"

PIIIIII!!

A horn blared from sowhere in front of them and Gina imdiately slamd her foot on the brake as she quickly parked at a junction! She let out a tired breath and Jason blinked in surprise as a truck passed in front of them with the driver giving them the middle finger. Gina imdiately took her hand out and gave the driver a middle finger as well while shouting!

"There’s a stop sign there, you idiot!"

The driver shouted sothing back in anger and Gina just ignored him and fell back on her seat! The sound of a police siren echoed through the area and Gina’s mouth widened into a vindictive grin as she watched the policeman go after the truck!

Jason waited for her to catch her breath and he watched as she put her hair back in place and sighed before she gently began to move the car once more.

"You okay?"

Gina turned to Jason sharply!

"Really!? You’re asking if I’m okay after what you just told !? You have four hundred B-class monsters at your command and you’re asking

if I’m okay!? This doesn’t make any sense! And I heard from so of my colleagues that you told the SMD that you only had an Ocular ability! I don’t understand anything and I don’t like it!"

Gina was breathing heavily at the end of her rant and Jason simply weathered the intensity of her anger with a calm look on his face. He wasn’t surprised that she was angry. In fact, he expected it. Gina had always had a very short fuse, so whenever they were together, he was the one who acted as the voice of reason to her intensity. But Jason also knew that Gina just needed ti to comprehend everything that he had said, so he waited for a few seconds for her breathing to finally even out again before he spoke up.

"The reason I didn’t tell you about it isn’t because I don’t trust you."
