In the dark alley, Ronan leaped out from the manhole.
This spot was very secluded, and even if the manhole cover was open, no one would bother to put it back.
He looked up at the night sky, where a pale red moon hung high above the firmant.
The day of the Blood Moon is about to arrive!
Ronan withdrew his gaze and, while putting the cover back, pondered over the matter of the Life Elixir.
Undoubtedly, it was a major bombshell.
A thunderous bombshell capable of blowing countless people to smithereens!
He did not apprehend Balder Eddy precisely to avoid prematurely detonating this bombshell, trapping himself in a passive and troubleso situation.
Furthermore, Ronan could sense that Balder Eddy’s days were numbered.
This formidable Transcendent had suffered significant damage, his life source greatly diminished; even if he appeared unscathed on the surface, death was already looming.
Balder Eddy himself surely knew it too.
He disclosed the secret of the Life Elixir to Ronan not only to drag Ronan into the mire but, more importantly, to buy himself so ti to relocate and settle the cavern’s dwellers.
This was the last thing Balder Eddy could do in his final days!
Balder Eddy wasn’t a perfect saint, but his virtue surpassed 99% of the nobility!
In the next mont, Ronan vanished into the darkness.
He quietly returned to the villa located in the Eastern City District to et Delores who was waiting there.
"Things are quite complicated..."
Ronan wrapped his beloved in his arms and apologized, "For safety’s sake, you and Janice have to endure a bit longer."
The Blood Moon is imminent, Bloodkin, Life Elixir, the capital’s nobility...
In fact, taking Delores and Janice away from Seles was the safest option, but he didn’t want to miss this impending storm, which naturally ant he couldn’t send the two of them away.
"It’s okay."
Delores smiled, "Janice and I are fine here; the supplies are ample, and there are plenty of books to read, we won’t get bored, even staying for a few more months is no problem."
"You must take care!"
Her eyes couldn’t help but reveal a worried expression.
The ti she established a relationship with Ronan was the happiest period in Delores’s past life.
Though facing danger now, all she desired was the willingness to share hardships with Ronan.
Ronan chuckled, picked Delores up, and walked towards the bedroom.
When the beauty had fallen to deep sleep, Ronan quietly got up and went to the basent of the villa to begin a new setup.
This villa was purchased through connections with Gustav Rein.
That ant Gustav Rein must know about it.
Although Ronan maintained a close relationship with the Lionheart Earl at the mont, their cooperative efforts were very smooth.
But that didn’t an Gustav Rein was an absolutely reliable ally!
Never gamble on human nature when faced with interests; the layers involved with the Life Elixir were too high, and if Ronan beca a target of public criticism, Gustav Rein turning against him would be very normal.
Therefore, the villa’s safety asures must be upgraded!
In the following two days, Ronan dug out a new secret passage in the basent of this villa.
This passage connected to the Eastern City District’s sewer system; inside, he constructed a small safehouse and took Delores through it to ensure she could evacuate safely in an urgent situation.
If the villa faced an external invasion, she only needed to take Janice and hide in this safehouse, having enough ti to wait for Ronan’s rescue.
Relying on powerful Spiritual Energy, Ronan completed all arrangents in the shortest ti.
Then he returned to the Fourth Precinct of the Old Port District.
As soon as he arrived at the precinct, Ronan was summoned to the chief’s office again.
This ti, Chief Ford Hamill directly slamd his desk, "Ronan, the mission deadline is up, where is Balder Eddy now?"
His expression was quite grim, eyes showing an air of smugness.
"Couldn’t find him."
Ronan calmly answered, "I couldn’t complete the task assigned by the main departnt, and I’m willing to accept administrative penalties."
Ford Hamill was taken aback.
The chief obviously didn’t expect Ronan to concede so freely, without any semblance of disappointnt or contempt.
It made him extrely displeased internally, "Do you think it’s as simple as just administrative penalties? Every day Balder Eddy, such a ruthless criminal, roams free is another day of threat to the kingdom’s citizens."
"If he commits another cri, can you take responsibility?"
Ford Hamill spoke fiercely, as if Ronan had committed an unimaginable sin.
"Of course, I can’t take it."
With unwavering calm, Ronan placed his police badge, emblem, and the precinct-issued gun on the desk.
"Hence, I’m resigning, letting soone more capable take charge."
He was already prepared to relinquish his position; since the other party was being unreasonable, there was no need for further entanglent.
Ford Hamill was dumbfounded.
He had contemplated various possible reactions from Ronan; resignation was the one he never anticipated!
Knowing Ronan had no background or status, having risen from Lande City to beco Deputy Police Chief; his career in law enforcent was exceptionally bright, with limitless future prospects.
Ford Hamill never intended to completely obliterate Ronan, nor could he.
He rely wanted to take advantage of this opportunity to suppress Ronan’s montum, to ensure the latter diligently worked under his command.
At least, Ronan’s future rits should go largely to him, the Chief!
Results...
"You don’t have to be so impulsive."
Ford Hamill felt the embarrassnt of a drawn sword unable to return to its scabbard, speaking while maintaining composure, "I won’t approve your resignation now, go back and work well, I’ll appeal to the headquarters for more ti."
"There’s no need."
Ronan turned and said, "I’ll go now to pack, and submit the formal resignation report."
Without waiting for Ford Hamill’s response, he left the office on his own.
As Ronan stepped into the hallway, he heard the sound of objects being thrown behind him, and let out a sneer.
When Ronan completed the resignation procedures according to protocol and ca out from the Fourth Precinct, two black cars emitting white smoke sped toward him, quickly stopping before him.
Six or seven n in black stepped out from the cars, and one of them rushed to Ronan, showing him a credential.
"I’m Investigator Jenkins from the Departnt of Internal Affairs. Ronan Raymond, Deputy Police Chief, you’re suspected of involvent in a major murder case, please co with us to assist in the investigation!"
The tall, burly man in black looked stern and serious, full of intimidation.
anwhile, the other five n in black surrounded Ronan from different directions.
The atmosphere on the scene instantly beca tense and confrontational.
"Ha."
Ronan chuckled.
Finally, they ca!
