"There’s a reason for that," the young officer said to Su Xuan with a laugh. "Once the money is transferred to your card, the bank will have a record. What if the criminals’ accomplices follow that trail and find you? It’s much safer to give you cash."
"Makes sense." Su Xuan accepted the cash without hesitation and saw her off.
"Su Xuan, why won’t you let visit your ho?" the young officer muttered as she drove away in her police car. "I’ll check out your place properly one day. Who knows, you might be a criminal too!"
As for Su Xuan, after stashing the cash at ho, he went back to driving for Didi.
I wonder if Old Zhai will think of today? He harbored this thought and drove very slowly, hoping Zhai Defeng would send soone to make trouble for him.
To his disappointnt, however, everything was normal.
He then picked up a new order. "Hello, please get comfortable. We’re about to set off," he said to the woman who had just gotten into his car.
"Wow, a handso one!" The passenger was a woman in her twenties. She was slender yet curvaceous, with a distinctly seductive look in her eyes.
"Just average," Su Xuan replied, driving toward the destination: a budget hotel.
Two minutes later, the woman suddenly asked, "Hey handso, there’s a scent in your car. Do you sll it?"
Su Xuan asked, "What scent?"
"A sweet one," the woman replied. "It’s coming from you. It’s as sweet as a first love!"
Su Xuan chuckled. "Thanks."
"You’re welco!" she said.
After that, the passenger’s gaze shifted to Su Xuan’s hands. Su Xuan was holding the steering wheel with one hand and playing with a coin in the other. His fingers moved nimbly, making the coin roll and dance between them.
He wasn’t doing this to kill ti, but rather to improve his control over fine motor skills.
"Such nimble fingers!" The passenger’s face flushed red as she watched, her mind clearly wandering sowhere else.
She suddenly said to Su Xuan, "Driver, can you pull over for a second? I need to use the restroom!"
After Su Xuan stopped the car, the woman hurried into a public restroom by the roadside. She took a long ti to co out, and when she did, strands of her hair were plastered to her face. Furthermore, she had been sitting in the back seat before, but now she slid right into the front passenger seat.
"Are you alright?" Su Xuan glanced at her and noticed she was pressing her legs tightly together, trembling slightly.
"I-I’m fine," the woman said, waving her slender hand. She added mysteriously, "I just... got a little carried away."
"Oh." Su Xuan decided to ignore his strange passenger and continued driving toward the destination.
A few minutes later, however, the woman’s behavior grew even stranger. She suddenly reached out and gripped the car’s handbrake tightly, her breathing quickening. Su Xuan glanced at her face. It was even redder now, as if it had just been stead, and beads of sweat covered her forehead.
"Are... you sure you’re okay?" Su Xuan couldn’t help but ask again.
"I’m... fine." The woman gave Su Xuan a dazed look and tugged down the collar of her shirt. "It’s just a little hot. Very hot."
The car’s air conditioning was already on, so Su Xuan turned the temperature down to its lowest setting.
The woman took a few deep breaths of the cold air, which seed to help. But just a few minutes later, she began acting strangely again and started saying so very odd things.
"Driver," she asked, "do you think I’m like a desert?"
Su Xuan replied, "Not at all."
"But my boyfriend says I am."
"Right now, you’re more like a tropical rainforest."
He wasn’t exaggerating in the slightest. Despite turning the AC to its lowest setting, the woman was still sweating profusely.
"Like a rainforest... that’s right! Then taking those drugs wasn’t a waste," she said. "Let tell you, driver, I bought a bottle of magical pills online. After you take them, you turn into a rainforest."
Su Xuan asked, "Why would you take sothing like that?"
"To make my boyfriend happy, of course! He took so pills too, but his are different. He said his pills would turn him into... the Hulk!"
The corner of Su Xuan’s mouth twitched. "What kind of pill does that?"
"Oh, I misspoke. It’s a pill that makes him *as strong as* the Hulk!"
"So, where is he now?" Su Xuan asked.
"He’s waiting for at the hotel!"
At this point, Su Xuan finally understood everything. The woman and her boyfriend, seeking the ultimate thrill, had both taken so kind of strange drug and planned to et at a hotel for a... showdown.
How intense! So wild! They really know how to live on the edge!
To keep his passenger from waiting—and to protect... himself—Su Xuan imdiately sped toward the budget hotel. He didn’t dare play with the coin anymore, lest it send the woman’s imagination running wild again. He also placed his hand over the handbrake.
He even said to her, "Just hang in there! We’ll be there soon!"
BLUB... BLUB... BLUB...
But the woman couldn’t hold on. Just as the car pulled up to the hotel entrance, she suddenly began frothing at the mouth like a goldfish and lost consciousness.
WEE-WOO! WEE-WOO!
At that very mont, an ambulance pulled up to the hotel entrance.
"Whoa!" Su Xuan watched as several hotel employees rushed out, carrying a young man whom they loaded into the ambulance. That man was also frothing at the mouth.
He realized at once: that young man was without a doubt his passenger’s boyfriend. His... transformation must have failed too. One wanted to beco a rainforest, the other a giant. In the end, both had failed.
"Wait a second!" Su Xuan quickly got out and helped place the woman in the ambulance as well. He told the paradics, "They’re probably a couple. I think they both took so kind of... drug!"
"Got it." The paradic nodded at Su Xuan. "We see this a lot. It’s clearly an overdose. A stomach pump at the hospital will sort them out."

The ambulance sped away, leaving Su Xuan standing there, his thoughts a ss in the wind. At the sa ti, he felt quite relieved. His body was constantly being strengthened by the system. He would probably never need to take that kind of drug...
Just as Su Xuan got back in his car, ready to accept another order, his phone rang. It was Director Ma. "Boss, do you have ti to co over to Kangnai?"
"What’s going on?" Su Xuan asked.
"Yes, sothing has co up," Director Ma said, his tone sounding a bit off. "You’d better co and see for yourself. This is a matter that requires a decision from you, the boss. I’ll be waiting for you in my office."
"Alright." Su Xuan started driving toward Kangnai.
It seed being the largest shareholder of Kangnai wasn’t all perks; now he had to start dealing with specific business matters.
Over half an hour later, Su Xuan arrived outside Director Ma’s office and heard him saying angrily:
"I already told you, this is nothing but price gouging!"
"Kangnai will never compromise with you!"
"Our boss is on his way. Just you wait until he deals with you!"
