A week later.
"Wandering Earth" film and ga were successively launched overseas.
In the regions such as North Arica, Europe, Korea, Japan, Russia, and others, "Wandering Earth" found its primary market. Over that week, Feiyue Group spent a considerable amount on advertising, conducting widespread promotions for the film and ga of "Wandering Earth."
At first.
Foreigners disdained this entertainnt product from Xia Country, as they firmly believed, based on their established notions, that even though Xia Country is very powerful, it was strictly under the clasp of the West, particularly Hollywood, in the realms of gaming and movies, much like it was in the semiconductor chip sector.
However, even as Xia Country’s scientists were striving tirelessly in the semiconductor field, film and ga creators from Xia Country seed only interested in making quick money, with no real intention of catching up.
But this ti, Feiyue dia and Feiyue Gas studio, born out of Mist City Arts and Science University, beca representatives of Xia Country’s entertainnt products stepping onto the global stage.
In just one week, the movie and gas of "Wandering Earth" radically shifted foreigners’ perceptions of Xia Country’s entertainnt standards.
At the beginning, foreigners’ comnts on Twitter and YouTube went like this —
"The film industry level of Xia Country is still too low."
"The last decent Xia Country film I saw was when I watched ’Super Combat Team’ last ti, but sadly it was an animated movie."
"I think if Xia Country’s film industry wants to compete with Hollywood, they have lots of work to do."
"It can’t be denied that Xia Country has so excellent directors and films, but most of them are just making up the numbers. Oh, I learnt a new Chinese idiom today — making up the numbers."
"Xia Country’s culture is quite fascinating, very, uh, long-standing, yes yes, that’s it, profound and ancient."
"Sounds like ’Wandering Earth’ is supposed to be a sci-fi movie?"
"Oh wow, Xia Country can make a sci-fi movie?"
"Xia Country’s sci-fi movies seem like they’re just fooling around."
"There seems to be a lot of advertising this ti, what a waste of money."
"I’ve also seen quite a bit of advertising which is why I decided to see just how bad Xia Country’s film this ti could be."
"I don’t know if it’s any good, but the last ti I saw such a heavily advertised film, it truly turned out to be terrible!"
Due to experiencing too many "trash" films from Xia Country, foreigners possessed a certain "trauma" towards films produced by Xia Country, and subconsciously, they assud that this new film from Xia Country, "Wandering Earth", was another low-quality flop.
It’s normal for foreigners to feel this way, in fact, Ding Yue anticipated this situation, which is why he decided, if "Wandering Earth" sought to venture overseas, it would have to size up its advertising, otherwise it would fall into the dilemma of a good movie going unseen.
After all, even with great wine, you worry about the depth of the alley outside the country!
However!
It was precisely because Feiyue dia executed substantial advertising overseas that "Wandering Earth" ca into the foreigners’ field of vision.
Generally, films from Xia Country with ample advertising and slightly more theater listings did manage to get a few foreigners to the theaters to check them out.
This, in turn, ant that Feiyue dia’s advertisent essentially expanded the first wave of the audience for "Wandering Earth."
Otherwise, only overseas Chinese and students would probably see "Wandering Earth" in foreign markets, though a significant group, it’s relatively small compared to the broader audiences like in Europe and North Arica.
If a film wants to make money overseas, it has to reap from the foreigners in Europe and North Arica.
Overseas Chinese and students, on the first day of "Wandering Earth’s" release, went to the cinemas as they knew how big a hit "Wandering Earth" was back ho, having seen film reviews on social dia platforms a month earlier and eagerly awaiting its international release.
After they saw it, they imdiately recomnded it to their foreign friends, as "Wandering Earth" left them incredibly shocked; everyone agreed that it was a very impressive dostic sci-fi film!
In foreign markets, besides the Chinese and students, due to the advertising, a not-so-small number of foreign viewers also went into cinemas to see "Wandering Earth."
But after watching, the foreigners were stunned.
Firstly, the sci-fi the’s imagination — sothing foreign audiences had never previously encountered.
Even Hollywood, with its many sci-fi films, had never introduced a sci-fi concept involving the Earth wandering.
Thus, once this unique sci-fi idea in "Wandering Earth" was recognized by foreign audiences, they felt the distinctness of this film; they believed "Wandering Earth" was profoundly different from any other film produced by Xia Country.
