Chapter 690: Six hundred eighty-eight, flustered Chapter 690: Six hundred eighty-eight, flustered Gao iyun furrowed her brow in confusion, “Bring it in!” Who on earth would write a letter to her?

The door was gently pushed open, and Aunt Li entered, handing over the letter to Gao iyun, “Madam, this has just been delivered. The sender insisted that it must be given to you personally.”

Gao iyun took the letter and waved Auntie Li away, “Go out.”

“Yes!” Aunt Li responded, went out, and closed the door.

Gao iyun tore open the envelope, about to read, when the telephone on the bedside table rang. She reached for the phone, “Hello!”

“It’s Zhou Bowen. iyun, I have sothing to tell you. I received a letter this afternoon,” Zhou Bowen said upon recognizing Gao iyun’s voice. After much consideration, he decided to inform Gao iyun and consult with her on potential solutions.

“Wait! You received a letter too?” Gao iyun glanced at the envelope in her hand, her heart beginning to panic. Could it be that her affair with Zhou Bowen had been discovered?

“It seems you’ve also received one,” Zhou Bowen sighed. He should have realized that the sender wouldn’t have sent it to just him alone.

“I just got it and haven’t read it yet.” Gao iyun turned the envelope upside down and dumped out the contents. As soon as she saw what it was, her face turned ashen, and she hastily threw down the phone.

“Damn it! This is too despicable!” Gao iyun looked angrily and fearfully at the stack of photos and a lab report. This report was from when she had an abortion; she had chosen a small hospital to avoid detection. The photos captured not only her secret eting with Zhou Bowen in the woods but also her visit to the hospital with crystal clarity.

If Cheng Yiqun discovered these items, she’d truly have no defense. What worried her most now was whether the sender might forward the information to Cheng Yiqun.

With this thought, she hurriedly stuffed everything back into the envelope, then wedged the envelope into a crevice of the bed. Seeing the phone she’d thrown aside, she quickly picked it up again, “Are you still there?”

“I am,” Zhou Bowen answered.

“Do you know who sent it?” Gao iyun asked.

“It must be your daughter-in-law. Not long after I received the letter, I got a call. He demanded that I ensure Li Zhenzhen gets the best deal when she divorces your son,” Zhou Bowen explained.

“Impossible, she doesn’t have the guts,” Gao iyun imdiately rejected Zhou Bowen’s speculation. The Li family wouldn’t have such ticulous thoughts either. Although she had not interacted with Li Zhijun much, she knew clearly what kind of person he was—otherwise, she wouldn’t be so confident in her own plans.

“What should we do next?” Zhou Bowen asked. This matter didn’t pose much of a loss to him, but if he followed the sender’s directives without consulting Gao iyun, it would be hard to explain to her side. After all, his current status was inextricable from Gao iyun.

Hearing footsteps outside, Gao iyun spoke to Zhou Bowen, “I need to think about it. I’ll get back to you tomorrow.” With that, she quickly hung up the phone.

No sooner had she put down the phone than the door was pushed open, and Cheng Yiqun walked in.

“I heard you weren’t feeling well today.” Cheng Yiqun looked at Gao iyun with concern, noticing her pale complexion.

Seeing that Cheng Yiqun looked normal, Gao iyun secretly relaxed, “It’s that ti of the month, feeling weak all over. Why did you co back so early today?”

“There wasn’t much going on at the company, so I ca back. Do you want to make you so brown sugar water?” Cheng Yiqun asked. Because of his health issues, he felt guilty for not being able to give her much.

“No need, I’ve already asked Aunt Li to cook red date and lotus seed soup. I’ll have her bring it up in a mont. I’m a bit faint; I need to sleep for a while,” Gao iyun lay down, her heart filled with unease, unsure of the next move of the person who had sent the letter.

Cheng Yiqun smiled, withdrew his gaze, walked to the wardrobe, opened it, took out pajamas, and headed to the bathroom. It was his routine to take a bath each day when he got ho.

As soon as the bathroom door closed, Gao iyun opened her eyes, glanced towards the bathroom, and sighed. This ti, she truly didn’t know what to do.

The sound of rushing water ca quickly from the bathroom; Gao iyun was about to close her eyes again when the phone rang once more.

She hesitated slightly, then picked up the phone, “Hello!”

“You’re Gao iyun, aren’t you?” A voice with a chilling tone reached her from the other end of the line.

Gao iyun’s heart skipped a beat, “Who are you?” Could it be the person who had sent the letter?

“Who I am is none of your concern. I’m calling to tell you, when Li Zhenzhen divorces your son, no matter what her demands are, you must satisfy them. Otherwise, not only will you be ruined, the Cheng family’s reputation will suffer as well.”

“Did Li Zhenzhen plan all of this?” A chill rose in Gao iyun’s heart. She had spent so much ti in the sa house as Li Zhenzhen without realizing how cunning she was.

“You shouldn’t be asking that. Alright, your husband will be out of the bath soon; I won’t keep you.” With that, the caller hung up.

Gao iyun suddenly felt goosebumps all over her body and broke out in cold sweat. Who was the person on the other end? How could they know so much about what was happening inside her room?

Looking towards the window, she saw the curtains were tightly drawn. It was impossible to see inside from the outside. So how did they know?

Could they be hiding in her room? She looked around fearfully. No! That shouldn’t be possible. Aside from the wardrobe, there was only under the bed to hide in, and since the caller was on the phone, it was impossible for them to be in the room.

“Click!” The bathroom door opened, and Cheng Yiqun, now in his pajamas, ca out.

Gao iyun was startled, but relaxed upon seeing it was Cheng Yiqun. With the caller so aware of her every move, what was she supposed to do? If she agreed, she didn’t know what excessive demands Li Zhenzhen might make; if she refused, she truly couldn’t bear the consequences.

“What’s the matter?” Cheng Yiqun hurried over upon noticing Gao iyun’s panicked expression.

“I just had a nightmare,” Gao iyun said. The call she had received felt indeed like a nightmare to her.

Cheng Yiqun paused, surprised, but didn’t ask any further questions. Perhaps she was truly exhausted to have fallen asleep so quickly and to have dreamt so soon.
