Chapter 9
An Ya did not like him, and Xu Bai knew this.
He and An Ya graduated from Feng City Law Enforcent University together. After graduation, they both joined the Feng City police departnt. However, unlike Xu Bai, who went to the frontline, An Ya chose to join the internal affairs division after her internship.
They were the law enforcers of the Feng City police departnt that specialized in investigating their fellow police officers.
To all of the regular law enforcent officers like Xu Bai, the internal affairs division was bad news, and was not looked upon favorably.
When Xu Bai first joined the Criminal Investigation Departnt, in order to integrate into his team and environnt, he naturally chose to stand with his colleagues and criticize the internal affairs division.
However, one ti, An Ya, who was coincidentally passing by, heard him. After, An Ya made things difficult for him in order to take revenge.
That being said, Xu Bai was completely in the dark about how he had offended An Ya.
Two months ago, when An Ya had found trouble with Xu Bai and seized his gun, Xu Bai had thought about taking off his badge and quitting in front of An Ya.
However, after thinking about it, he endured it.
After all, he really needed this job. As a graduate of the Law Enforcent University, there were not too many alternate careers for him. If he resigned, he reckoned that whatever monthly salary he earned out there would not even be enough to pay for half a month’s worth of treatnt for his sister.
Hearing Xu Bai’s words, An Ya, who had a cold expression on her face, tucked her hair behind her ear.
“What did you say?”
“Nothing.”
Xu Bai coughed and looked at An Ya, “What’s the matter? Team Leader An, did soone complain about my operation this ti?”
An Ya laughed and walked towards Xu Bai’s bed.
“Why? Do you think that you violated the rules while conducting this operation?”
Xu Bai nodded.
“Indeed.”
“Oh, how?”
“I won’t tell.”
Xu Bai smiled and looked up at An Ya, who was known as a beautiful flower to others, but seed repulsive to him.
“Aren’t you best at investigating such things? This is a chance for you to do so.”
An Ya nodded expressionlessly.
“Thank you for the heads-up. I will.”

An Ya then changed the topic and explained her purpose in coming here. She looked at Xu Bai and said, “I received news that soone from the Departnt of Holand Security might co to look for you in two days.”
Xu Bai frowned.
“Look for ?”
“Yes.”
“Why? Liu San is already dead.”
“I don’t know.”
An Ya pulled out a chair and sat down. She looked at Xu Bai and said, “Therefore, I need to know everything about the day you arrested Liu San. Did you encounter anything suspicious? Or rather, did Liu San himself say anything suspicious?”
Xu Bai raised his eyebrows and looked at An Ya.
“What do you an?”
“I an it literally.”

Xu Bai looked at An Ya expressionlessly and glanced at the top of An Ya’s head.

He took a deep breath and looked at An Ya, who was sitting on the chair with her legs crossed. She was also looking at the nurse.

Xu Bai’s eyes fell on the pair of high heels she was wearing as he pondered the matter.
“Oh, there’s a guest.”
The nurse pushed the food cart in and was about to feed Xu Bai lunch when she saw An Ya sitting on the chair, looking at her coldly. She put the food cart aside and looked at Xu Bai.
“Then call when you’re done. I won’t bother you both.”
The nurse glanced at An Ya from the corner of her eye, and then turned around to leave the ward.
An Ya then turned to look at Xu Bai. Her lips curled into a beautiful smile.
“Am I getting in the way of sothing?”
Xu Bai looked at the cold-faced tigress expressionlessly.
“What do you think?”
Xu Bai had honestly been looking forward to the nurse feeding him this afternoon..
Seeing the smile on Xu Bai’s face, An Ya stood up and walked over to the food cart. She opened the lid and took a look at the al, which comprised four dishes and one soup. Then, she turned to look at Xu Bai.
“It’s a little posh, no?”
“The als this ti are courtesy of the Federation.”
“Don’t compare it to the standard 30-coin als that the departnt usually provides. Those from the Departnt of Holand Security usually have standard als that are worth 100 federal coins.”
“And you are proud of this because?”
“What?”
Xu Bai frowned and looked at An Ya, who had her back to him.
“It’s nothing.”
An Ya closed the lid and looked at Xu Bai.
“So, you didn’t see anything unusual during this mission. At the sa ti, there was nothing unusual about Liu San?”
“Is there anything unusual about him that I should have paid attention to?”
Xu Bai smiled.
“No, not really.”
“Is there anything else?”
“No.”
An Ya turned around and smiled at Xu Bai.
“I just ca here to tell you that the Departnt of Holand Security might want to talk to you soti during the next two days. Alright, enjoy your al, Detective Xu. I’ll be leaving first.”
After saying that, An Ya walked out the door, leaving Xu Bai frowning as he stared at her departing figure.
Ten seconds later, an old nurse with a kind face pushed the ward door open and walked in with a smile.
Xu Bai’s eyebrows twitched.
