"Crim, stop abusing the earth slis, and let's go." Crim had found that the earth slis were just tough enough to protect themselves against his claws. That was perfect for him to practice attacking from different angles.
Clark couldn't get too angry seeing that Crim was sowhat training. The earth spikes that the earth slis used to attack were too slow to build up so they were too easily dodged. That led Clark to take on the earth slis using the falling moon pierce over and over. He was able to train his own strength while Crim battles alone.
The only one left out was Devi since they were too tough for his teeth to pierce.
Descending the obvious stairway, Clark found a hot room full of lava and slowly moving fire slis. "Crim, this could be tougher." He knew that Crim could resist flas, but when he looked at the system analysis, he saw that the slis could spit flas around them. This was a rough area of effect attack.
"Wait, Devi!" Clark watched Debvi rush the nearest fire sli and chomp down. Surprisingly, instead of burning, Devi crushed the core between his teeth. "How…?"
Clark fell in to deep thought. He had ex[ected the fire slis to be too hot to touch. Yet, Devi had proven that wrong and attacked them unawares. This ant that the slis were not hot until they added more fire energy in to their body to attack. "Long ranged attacks it is!"
The black throwing needles appeared in Clark's hands. He had learned to keep them up his sleeves. Even if he dropped them he knew he could use their skill to recall back to his hand. Therefore, he focused his aim and had Crim stand back.
Throw after throw, fire slis lted in to puddles of orange sli that evaporated easily. The lava was causing the heat to get to Clark, but it wasn't unbearable. He just needed to remain calm and drink the water he had in his spatial ring. The fire slis left small fire crystals behind but that was the least of Clark's worries. The lava had started to rise.
"Crim, we need to move faster!" It was clear that the dungeon saw him abusing the examination to farm materials. This was the simplest way for the beast controlling the dungeon to force Clark to move on.
Their pace picked up while Devi floated ahead toward the large stone doors opening before them. Just as the lava overtook the pathways, they passed the doors and pushed them closed. What they found was a dimly lit cave cooler than the field above.
A single droplet of cool water fell on Clark's head. This caused him to prepare to face water slis again. But instead, there was nothing. The small cave was full of little vines growing around the ground with droplets of dew on them.
'The examination rest area has been reached. As a minor reward, you are able to gather soul dew here before moving on to the secondary challenge. The student may also proclaim that they wish to leave with their grade being decided now.'
The beast spoke out in the cave and Clark scoffed. "Npo way am I leaving!" He was not giving up the chance to find more materials. He also knew that Maria had specifically asked him to help her get this material. If she managed to get so then it was no big deal, he could sell this.
'The student will carry on. The difficulty will increase. Two floors remain.'
The additional information was very welco. Clark could handle two more floors. He wasn't sure how or what he would do in them, but he was ready to push onwards. With Crim and Devi helping, they gathered three vials of soul dew from the leaves of the vines. The dripping water made Clark's clothing damp so as soon as he walked to the next tunnel, he changed clothes.
It wasn't wise to move around in such a state.
To his surprise, Clark began to sll sothing familiar. The scent of thunderstorms. The way the air would feel when one walked across a carpet in socks on a dry day. "I know this feeling…Down!"
Forcing Crim and Devi to the ground, a flash of light moved past them and hit the wall of the tunnel they had just co from. A resounding boom deafened them while Clark saw a yellow sli rolling around with more speed than expected.
"This damn dungeon did this intentionally!" Clark could tell that the tunnel could be altered by the beast that controlled the dungeon. It had multiple walls that seed too perfect. He had been deliberately soaked in water then sent to a dangerous lightning sli cavern.
If he hadn't had the forethought to bring extra clothing within his spatial ring, he would have been defeated instantly dropping his grade much lower.
"I can't hit it with a throwing needle because it is too fast. I can't stab it with my spear or it will strike with lightning. Devi, use your deathly claws. This was the only chance. Devi wasn't touching the ground so the damage from the lightning shouldn't be severe because it had nowhere to travel but back to the lightning sli.
Watching Devi move as the sli beca a deeper yellow, Clark jumped away again with Crim. the lighting bolt hit the wall again and he felt his ears ring. He couldn't hear what was happening but Clark and Crim saw clearly.
Devi changed body shape again to produce vicious claws. The dark tips sheared through the lightning sli's body and through the core. The lightning flowed out in a burst causing another boom. But just as Clark had expected, Devi was left unhard. The lightning had traveled to the ground instead of up in to Devi.
"A cheap trap!" Clark roared out in annoyance while looking at the pile of lted yellow lightning sli. He picked up the lightning crustal and knew it was an uncommon material that was worth a decent amount of silver. He stored it away before realizing that there had only been one lightning sli. "Must have been too hard to cultivate down here."
The lightning sli could only grow under the influence of constant lighting. Therefore, Clark knew that mana of them would not be in the sa position. "There is another tunnel there, are you ready to go?" Clark was much more serious now that he had faced this danger. Devi and Crim also felt that they could no longer fool around.
If that lightning bolt had gotten too close they would have been beaten along with Clark.
What made Clark uncomfortable was the darkness of the next passage. The darkness that seed to be reaching out to grab him and drag him in. "Devi, stay close, I don't know what type of sli is down there, but they had darkness typing for sure."
A cold breeze blew from the darkness making Clark feel eleven more worried. He could feel his sweat becoming cold and his body tightening. There was sothing wrong. His heart had even started to pound frantically and his breath quickened. This was not normal for him at all. He was panicking.
