Chapter 108: Chapter 107: I’m a Professional [Third Update!]
When ng Yao crawled out of the car, a thought struck her and she found sothing amiss. She said, "You’re not just trying to scare , are you? I’m a professional; you can’t trick ."
"Believe it or not, that’s up to you," Qin Tian said, speechless. He thought to himself, I’m just trying to warn you, and you actually don’t believe ?
ng Yao hesitated for a mont, but then decided to turn around and go back to the car to search for so evidence.
"I’m a professional, do you think I’d be scared?"
She stuck out her tongue at Qin Tian’s back and turned to crawl back into the car.
"There’s a grenade on the right side of the car door, and another one hidden beneath the grey suitcase in front, both rigged to explode. The mont you touch them, they’ll blow up instantly. Officer ng, if you want to look for evidence, wait a mont, let
get far away first—so I don’t get splattered with blood..."
Qin Tian strode away.
ng Yao, back in the car and checking the location Qin Tian pointed out, indeed saw a grenade with its pin taut—a sight that made her swallow hard.
Then, looking at the grey suitcase, she furrowed her brows—there was no grenade in sight. How could Qin Tian have known a grenade was hidden under there?
Curiosity aside, ng Yao felt sothing was off, and since the car had the grenade traps exactly like Qin Tian described, she certainly didn’t plan to stay any longer.
Cautiously, ng Yao retreated from the car.
Taking a few steps to Qin Tian’s side, ng Yao asked, "How did you know there were grenades in the car?"
"Don’t ask stupid questions, of course I used my eyes."
"..."
Qin Tian turned to look at her: "So, you’re not looking for evidence anymore?"
ng Yao replied, "I’ve already taken photos with my phone. Hmph, I’m a professional, I knew at first glance there was nothing useful, no need to look further."
Watching ng Yao’s dead-serious deanor, Qin Tian wanted to laugh. He didn’t say much, took a mont to observe the surrounding environnt, then returned to his car to grab so snacks and water, ready to continue tracking.
Seeing that ng Yao intended to follow him, Qin Tian said, "ng, the great beauty, Qiao Zhicheng and the others have taken the path on foot. You shouldn’t chase after them, right? Just stay here, and I’ll contact you when I get back. Keep in touch through the phone."
Only then did Qin Tian realize that in this desolate wilderness, there was absolutely no cell service—calling for help would likely be useless.
"I’m going!"
ng Yao argued righteously, "If an ordinary citizen like you dares to go, why would I, a police officer, be scared? What a joke. I’m a professional, you know. Soon you’ll see just how good my tracking skills are."
"I’ve discovered that your bragging puts mine to sha. I used to think I was the best in the world; now, I realize I was profoundly mistaken. You win," Qin Tian said, giving ng Yao a thumbs-up.
"You think I’m just boasting? Hmph, I’m a professional. Don’t underestimate ."
ng Yao pouted at Qin Tian, not minding his gaze any longer. She picked a small bag from her large luggage, slung it over her back, and said, "Let’s go, and in a mont, you’ll witness what ’Detective ng Yao’ is truly capable of!"
Qin Tian, at a loss for words, saw ng Yao was determined to go, and he was powerless to stop her.
They followed the road ahead, with Qin Tian reminding the leading ng Yao, "Miss ng, are you sure Qiao Zhicheng fled in this direction?"
"You’re so silly it’s actually true," she retorted.
ng Yao looked back at Qin Tian and analyzed seriously, "This is the only road here. If they didn’t go this way, do you think they went back the other direction? If they had, we would have run into them by now. Hmph, don’t you even have that much common sense?"
ng Yao finished analyzing and gave Qin Tian a contemptuous look.
Qin Tian said, "If I were Qiao Zhicheng, I would have expected fools to analyze it this way."
"You’re the fool!"
"So besides taking the highway, they can’t take the mountain road? Now that they are not driving, don’t they know it’s easier to hide in the woods?"
ng Yao was struck dumb by Qin Tian’s speech.
She had turned around to call Qin Tian stupid, but after he spoke, she felt foolish herself.
After a two-second pause, ng Yao pursed her lips and gave Qin Tian an embarrassed smile, "That’s true, I forgot they might not take the highway."
Looking at this intelligence officer with an IQ slightly on the na??ve side, Qin Tian didn’t know what to say anymore.
Since when had the standards for becoming a police officer beco so low? ng Yao’s IQ was probably approaching negative numbers.
"So... Qin Tian, what do we do now? There’s such a long stretch of road, and we don’t know when they left the roadside to enter the woods. How do we chase them?"
Now, ng Yao was at a loss.
"I guess they must have headed into the woods as soon as they got out of the car. Qin Tian, let’s go back and track from where the car was," ng Yao guessed.
"That’s purely speculation. If they didn’t enter the forest as soon as they got out of the car, then wouldn’t we never find them again? How dumb," Qin Tian muttered, thinking didn’t you say you were a professional? Professionally guessing?
Seeing Qin Tian dismissing her suggestion, ng Yao got annoyed and said, "All you do is criticize , then you tell
where they have gone! You don’t know either, so you have no right to criticize !"
ng Yao stood her ground, thinking to herself that he didn’t know any more than she did; if she was a fool, then wasn’t he one too?
"Ha, ’Detective ng Yao,’ if you were a detective, everyone could go out and commit cris. With your IQ, you wouldn’t catch a single criminal."
ng Yao’s face turned red with embarrassnt at Qin Tian’s words. Just as she was about to speak, she heard Qin Tian say, "If I knew where they had escaped to, what would my reward be?"
"What reward do you want?" ng Yao was startled, suspecting in her heart, could Qin Tian really know where they had escaped to?
Upon further thought, she dismissed it as impossible. How could he know sothing that even a top-graduate from the police academy like herself didn’t?
And besides, the area was so vast, Qiao Zhicheng and his gang could have run in any direction; it would be strange if Qin Tian could guess correctly.
ng Yao looked around, observing the lush trees and towering forests, which solidified her assumptions.
"Go on, if you can guess where they’ve run off to, I’ll agree to any reward you want," ng Yao snorted.
"Heh heh, if I asked you to marry , would you agree to that too?" Qin Tian said with a laugh.
"You, in your dreams..." Hearing Qin Tian’s words, ng Yao’s face turned red, and she said, "Qin Tian, have you no sha, saying sothing so frivolous. I’m being serious. If you guess correctly which direction they fled, and if we’re able to catch them, I might consider applying to the police departnt to give you a cash reward."
"Forget it, I don’t want the cash reward. How about this, if I’m right, you call
’Master’ once, how about it? It would be a blessing from your past life to have
as your teacher with your IQ," Qin Tian grinned.
"Wishful thinking!"
ng Yao gave Qin Tian an embarrassed glare, hesitated for a mont, then gritted her teeth and said, "Fine, if you’re right, I’ll take you as my teacher, okay? Now, tell , where have they actually escaped to?"
