Chapter 517: Chapter 515: Cutting into the Black God Abyss
Ti, like the wind, arrived and left without a trace.
After more than half a year, the Lanque once again made its way to the depths of the Black Shen Swamp, to a secluded spot familiar to them. The airship suddenly halted its advance, suspended mid-air.
On the deck, Ivan glanced at the slope and puddles below, then turned to the people behind him and said,
“Everyone, I’m counting on you this ti.”
“Sorcerer Ivan, you’re too polite.”
Those present had all made their battle preparations. This ti they had brought out their full strength, including Janie, Locke, the swamp ants, Tanaya, Angela, Mara, the Silkworm Queen, the Scented Butterfly, the Fla Scorpion, Korram, as well as six formidable magic puppets.
...
Each of their powers far surpassed the Level 3 threshold.
Now, they had gathered the intel they needed and made all necessary preparations. Everything was in place, missing only the execution of their plan.
The mont of action was clearly upon them.
“Depart.”
Following Ivan’s command, he took the lead leaping from the airship’s guardrail. With the gentle breeze aiding them, everyone landed smoothly on the ground one after another.
The ground beneath their feet imdiately started to shift.
The soil churned rapidly outward, and in the blink of an eye, an enormous pit erged, causing the group to sink downward continuously, plunging rapidly below.
Just as many years ago, Ivan chose the sa thod of entry.
But unlike before, they were not targeting a particular entry or exit corridor; instead, they were aiming directly for the interior of the Black God Abyss. They planned to strike deep into enemy territory in one fell swoop, turning their world upside down.
With Elder Aleck coordinating the operation at a high level, it would be so ti before anyone noticed their arrival.
“Just as expected, everything is smooth,” Ivan said with a chuckle, sensing sothing beneath his feet after a mont.
The others did not cease their work, continuing to manipulate the rock and soil to change continuously, allowing the group to proceed deeper. It beca apparent that the deeper they went, the harder the rock and the more hidden the security asures beca.
But these were no match for them.
“Janie, proceed with the plan.”
“Understood.”
With the order, Janie moved first, burrowing into the rock, quickly tunneling to the other side. She had another urgent task, to deliver so beads elsewhere.
Seconds passed, and suddenly, the ground beneath them gave way to a bottomless chasm, filled with ceaselessly roiling mists.
Each person used their own thods to float above the chasm.
One side of the chasm was lined with cliffs and caves. Without another word, Ivan led the group toward that direction.
“Intruders—argh!”
“Who are these madn, daring to wreak havoc upon our Black God Abyss—boom!”
“Stop them, the God Insect Guard will be here any mont—rumble!”
At that mont, the black mist in the chasm churned even more violently, matched by the ferocity of Ivan’s party. Any mber of the Black God Society bold enough to show their face, whether they were a Level 3 master, a Level 2 elder, or even a Level 1 Insect Master, stood no chance against them.
It was as if they were marching through unoccupied territory.
“There’s a strong invasion, co quickly, summon everyone to join us in slaughtering these arrogant fools.”
“The enemy is terrifyingly powerful; we must command the God Insect Guard to strike imdiately.”
The disturbance was so significant that it quickly alerted mbers of the Black God Society both high and low, filling them with shock and fury.
Once again, soone had breached the heart of the Black God Abyss.
At this mont, many people’s minds were haunted by so unpleasant mories, mories related to the previous internal purges, which sent shivers down their spines.
The many high-ranking mbers of the Black God Society felt the sa.
Among the senior mbers, High Priest Muri was the most revered, and his face turned as black as charcoal as he scrutinized the hurriedly arriving masterminds with a sharp gaze.
The enemy had arrived so mysteriously and silently that he suspected there were traitors within, the most despised kind of enemy.
“High Priest, you don’t suspect that we brought the enemies in, do you?”
“Mind your words! The situation is serious; we must prioritize the bigger picture.”
None of the Level 3 masterminds present were fools; sensing sothing off in his gaze, they imdiately guessed his thoughts. So resented, so were somber, and so offered counsel.
For a ti, the place was filled with noise.
“Ack is right, now is not the ti to worry about these matters. Moreover, with the awe-inspiring divine might of our lord, like mountains and prisons, it is unlikely that anyone would dare to commit an act of betrayal. We can address all suspicions after we’ve dealt with the invaders.”
“The High Priest speaks wisely.”
Thanks to its rapid developnt in recent years, the Black God Society was more powerful than ever. Nine Level 3 Sorcerers had gathered here in a hurry, and Muri, Ack, and Bro were undoubtedly the crè de la crè among them.
If it was purely a matter of combat power, the three of them admitted they were no match for the carefully trained ‘God’s Insect Guards’, which were the direct insect guards carefully chosen layer by layer by the Black God Society.
“The enemy is ferocious; we should not act alone. Let’s join with the God’s Insect Guards first, and then strike a decisive blow to eliminate that gang of madn.”
After consoling with a few words, High Priest Muri began giving orders for action.
Apart from two masterminds he had nad, who needed to gather Insect Masters scattered everywhere to delay the rampage of the enemy, others were to follow him deep into the Black God Abyss to bring out the God’s Insect Guards, whose brains were not very bright.
As they finished speaking, they began their urgent actions.
The entire Black God Abyss was a maze of twists and turns; from the outside in, it took five major turns to reach the end of the Abyss. At the end of it, there was a cold plaza on the mountainside, almost level with the upper end of the surging black mist.
On the side of the plaza stood a divine statue of the black-bearded lord, a towering figure whose divine radiance was like a blazing torch, overseeing the whole Black God Abyss.
On the plaza, there sat a procession of bizarre figures, motionless, silently praying to the divine statue.
On the cliff side of the plaza, as the black mist stirred below, the creatures inhabiting it beca restless, their roars clearly transmitted upward, instinctively causing the figures on the plaza to awaken one by one, coming to the edge of the cliff in a daze and peering below, almost ready to leap down.
“Quickly return!”
Not long after, Muri and six others arrived at the plaza, imdiately chasing away these prospective insect guards.
The frustrating part was that those heavily insectified prospective insect guards had muddled thoughts and still did not obey commands completely.
“Forget it; they won’t hold out much longer. If the Black God Abyss suffers serious damage, we may have no choice but to take our own lives as atonent,” Ack warned.
“Alas! It has co to this.” His words were t with imdiate concurrence from the others.
Muri too knew the urgency of the situation, ignored the prospectively insectified guards that were dominated by instinct, and joined the other masterminds in using the Secret Technique to reach out to the God’s Insect Guards that dwelled within the Black God Abyss.
Seconds later, within the black mist, divine light flashed, and the ‘gate’ opened wide.
Massive silhouettes erged from the mist, formidable auras sprang forth, and those huge figures began to rise swiftly towards the surface.
“Zhou Zhou!”
At the sa ti, so prospective insect guards, seizing the mont Muri and others were not paying attention, rushed eagerly into the abyss below the cliff, disappearing into the black fog in the blink of an eye, leaving no chance for interception.
This act triggered a chain reaction, with other prospective insect guards preparing to follow suit.
Muri cursed under his breath and quickly intervened to stop them, instructing the others to help block the prospective insect guards.
As for the one who had already jumped down, in his rush to find death, he couldn’t bla anyone else; he would likely soon beco food for the newly liberated God’s Insect Guards.
What Muri and the others did not know was that the prospective insect guard who jumped down had long been prepared for death.
Facing the Insect Guards below with terrifying auras and massive bodies, the man threw out five beads covered in white patterns and activated a particularly strange bead among them.
A trendous power was poised for release.
