*Briella*
I had resented Kryzen for making us stop to take a break, but I was shocked to discover that I really needed it.
I thought that I was fine. I always thought I was fine when I actually wasn’t.
I blushed when I realized that Kryzen seed to have no trouble reading . I thought about what my mother used to say about mate bonds, how they allowed you to understand your partner in deeper ways than one could ever think possible.
“It’s getting a lot colder,” Kryzen murmured to . He dropped to his knees and pulled out the jackets we had packed for precisely that reason. Without a word, he wrapped one around my shoulders, buttoning it efficiently.
I was grateful since I wasn’t sure if my frozen fingers would have been able to handle the buttons.
I watched my mate as he slipped his arms into the sleeves of his jacket, his strong, sure hands making quick work of the buttons once again. He raised an eyebrow when he caught staring. “What is it?” he asked, sounding amused.
“Nothing,” I mumbled.
It shouldn’t have been too surprising that he seed to notice everything about lately. I felt closer to him in ways I never thought I would as well.
It was all because of the mate bond.
Everything about Kryzen lately was setting my nerves on fire. During our little picnic, the warmth of his body through his clothes started to make go wild. His masculine scent made a bit dizzy. Before I knew it, I found myself pouring my heart out to him.
The worst part of it was that he seed to be well aware of the effect he had on .
Even now, one perfect thick eyebrow flew up before he smirked, closing the space between us. His hand rose and cupped the side of my cheek before dropping lower so he could brush his fingers over my slightly parted lips.
He kissed gently, his eyes impossibly dark when he pulled away. “We need to keep moving,” he told . “It’s going to get dark soon, and we need to get our tent set up with this cold weather.”
I swallowed hard but nodded seriously, taking the hand he offered as we continued our trek up the mountain.
I was out of breath as we ascended, the air seeming to thin quickly. Little puffs of air were visible in front of our eyes, making the air feel even colder. Kryzen marched on, pulling along behind him.
There was a sense of urgency as it seed to grow colder and the sun seed to plumt toward the horizon as afternoon quickly lted into evening. I still couldn’t help but stare around in wonder at the gorgeous terrain we were traveling on.
There were mountains around Drogomor as well, but nothing like this one. The air was crisp but almost magical as it tickled my cheeks. There was a peacefulness to the mountain, with its tall thick trees and serene silence, the only sound coming from the wind swirling around us and our heavy but quick footsteps.
“We should stop and make camp,” Kryzen said regretfully, looking up ahead at the long way we still had to go before we reached the pack community.
I knew that he was disappointed we had to stop. It was getting even colder, and it would have been better to have arrived at the pack community before nightfall. According to the map Mathias gave us, we would have to travel for another few hours before we got there.
It was best to start setting up camp now before it got too cold and dark.
We worked quickly, thankfully finding a nice little clearing surrounded by rocks that kept the chilly wind from whipping around us. There was a nice blend of trees that acted as a kind of cover over us as well. I marveled at how much warr I already was as we pulled out the supplies to set up our tent.
I wiped at a tiny bead of sweat forming on my hairline as I straightened. The tent was all done. I moved to throw our sleeping bags inside when I caught a glimpse of the quickly darkening sky.
“Kryzen,” I gasped, pointing up above our heads.
Kryzen had been too preoccupied with securing our tent to the ground, obviously just as unaware as I had been to what was going on in the sky. He gave a questioning look before following my gaze. His jaw dropped at the sight.
Now that the sun had set, the sky was dark enough for the breathtaking streams of colorful lights shooting across the night. Waving rainbows undulated among the stars, creating a gorgeous explosion of color against the dark blanket above our heads.
Each colorful band seed to shimr and shine, blinking down at us as if very much aware of our presence.
The beauty of it took what little breath I had left. I dropped to my knees, craning my neck and widening my eyes to take in as much of the scene as I could.
“It’s amazing,” I finally murmured. I wished there were better words to describe the colorful night sky, but my arsenal of terms and phrases was empty, my mind too overwheld by the expanse of beauty.
“Very,” Kryzen agreed. I jumped slightly, not realizing that he had moved to kneel beside , his arms wounding around my waist so he could pull against him. He pressed a kiss to my cheek from behind and then stepped away from .
It took another mont to tear my gaze away from the sky so I could see what my mate was up to. I watched, grinning widely when I realized he was laying our sleeping bags out on the ground so we could enjoy the view for a bit longer before retreating into the warmth of our tent.
Kryzen reached out a hand to . I took it eagerly, dropping down beside him on our fluffy sleeping bags. He wrapped us up in a thin blanket and leaned against his chest so we could both look up at the sky, watching the colors swirl and lt against one another.
Kryzen dropped his chin to my shoulder and kissed my cheek. I shivered as I was suddenly surrounded by his warmth. He tightened his hold on , bathing in heat.
“I’m not cold at all now,” I murmured quietly, feeling like if I spoke too loudly, the serene mont would end and the sky would go back to its dark blackness.
Kryzen kissed my ear. “ neither,” he said, his voice low and kind of husky.
We lapsed into a companionable, peaceful silence as we gazed up at the array of hues above us. The night sky was even more vibrant now, ablaze with a srizing display of colors, each shade dancing and weaving like a cosmic ballet.
I leaned back even more against Kryzen’s chest, feeling his steady heartbeat. The soothing sound lulled , and I felt a sense of peace wash over . At that mont, an overwhelming sense of gratitude toward my mate suddenly overca .
I turned in his hold, getting on my knees so that I could look him in the eye. “I love you,” I told him, feeling the truth of the words hang between us.
Kryzen’s eyes grew wide, the gray in them darkening as he gazed at . “Briella,” he breathed, his hand rising to cup the side of my face, “I love you too. So much.”
I was suddenly shivering, and it definitely wasn’t from the cold. Kryzen’s hands moved swiftly as he lowered to the ground, my back against the soft sleeping bag. I gazed up at him, causing to marvel at the way the rainbow lights toyed with his dark hair. I tugged at the hem of his shirt, needing to see more of him.
“So eager,” he chuckled before obliging and pulling his shirt over his head, exposing his chiseled chest to my gaze.
I ran my fingers over the ridges of his chest and abs hungrily, gritting my teeth as need swam through . I gasped when his mouth found mine, drinking in, taking my little whimpers and moans.
“Now who’s the eager one?” I managed to say against his mouth between our heated kisses.
Kryzen just growled, but I could hear the amusent in the otherwise intimidating sound. “,” he snapped without any bite. “How could I not be with you beneath this way? Although, you could stand to have less clothing on.”
I started to reach for the hem of my shirt, but Kryzen beat to it, practically ripping the garnt off. He had completely naked in seconds, shucking my pants down my legs and tossing them behind him.
I moaned loudly as his lips moved all over my body, causing my skin to tingle. I spread my legs, wrapping them around his hips. He took the not-so-subtle hint and pushed his pants down, revealing his thick length to my eager eyes.
His gaze was intense as he lowered himself back down to and lined himself up against my already slick entrance. He ran the tip up and down, coating it in my juices. I took in a sharp breath, angling my hips upward to et him, needing to feel him filling .
Kryzen bent over to kiss the tip of my nose before he roughly grabbed the backs of my thighs, lifting my hips even higher before he drove into with one forceful motion that had imdiately seeing stars.
I cried out in ecstasy. “More,” I begged, despite the fact that I was completely filled. I needed more.
Kryzen looked amused but pleased by my request. He squeezed my thighs and pulled against him over and over, his cock sliding in and out in a harsh, rhythmic motion. I gasped with each quick movent, my whole body growing warm.
I threw my head back, allowing myself to lose sense of everything else except for Kryzen and , this passionate ti we were spending together. Ever since the mate bond, being with Kryzen in this way was much more intense. I felt as if I could feel him so much more completely. I knew his body just as well as I knew my own, every inch of his smooth skin and each heartbeat.
I was so attuned to it now that it made the oneness we shared much more incredible.
“Briella,” Kryzen gasped, gripping even harder, his thrusts becoming more insistent, more sure, and controlled.
“Claim , Kryzen,” I begged. “I’m yours, in every way. Please.”
Kryzen clenched his jaw and then lowered carefully but quickly to the ground. I gasped at the sudden loss of him filling . He straddled my hips and kissed roughly, pinning down against the sleeping bag. His hands were everywhere, running up and down my sides, setting my nerves on fire.
I gasped against his mouth when he slid into with no warning, the sudden pressure pulling an orgasm out of that had trembling beneath him. He stilled inside of , feeling shiver and shake around him.
“That’s right, my beautiful girl,” he crooned in my ear. “Co for , Briella. Co hard.”
I shrieked as I obeyed, letting myself go completely, another earth-shattering orgasm crashing into when Kryzen finished just a mont later, filling completely with his essence.
He gripped firmly as he shot his hot seed into before slowly relaxing. He rolled onto his side, pulling along with him so I was facing him. He pulled snugly against his bare chest, once again surrounding with his warmth.
I was never leaving the safety of his embrace.
