*Saoirse*

I lay in the healing center, my body aching and my mind reeling from the events of the past days. The dragon staff’s dark magic had nearly consud . It was only through Rhys’ unwavering love and determination that I found the strength to break free of its grasp.

The healers tended to my wounds, both physical and magical, with gentle hands and soothing elixirs. Even as my body nded, my thoughts remained troubled. I couldn’t shake the mory of how easily the staff’s power had overtaken , how close I had co to losing everything I held dear.

Rhys rarely left my side during those long days of recovery. His presence was a balm to my battered spirit.

And then I was finally reunited with my children.

"Mommy! Daddy!" The voices, high and clear, shattered the last of the tension within .

Their small figures blurred into motion, a whirlwind of elation barreling toward us. I dropped to my knees just in ti to catch them, their little bodies crashing into with the force of their joy.

"Adelaide! Aiden!" I cried out, my voice breaking with emotion. I wrapped my arms around our daughter and son, their warmth seeping into my weary bones. Their love healed my spirit, soothing the raw edges left by battle.

"Look at you two," Rhys said, kneeling beside us. He ruffled Aiden’s hair, his smile a radiant thing that reached deep into his eyes. "You’ve grown so much."

"Did you bring us sothing?" Adelaide asked, her eyes wide with the innocence of youth and the eagerness for tales of adventure.

"Nothing this ti, little star," I replied, planting a kiss on her forehead. "But we brought ourselves back to you. That’s the most important gift, isn’t it?"

"Yes, Mommy," Aiden agreed, snuggling closer. "We missed you."

"And we missed you every single mont," Rhys said, his voice thick with emotion. He gathered all of us into his arms, and we stayed like that, a tangle of limbs and hearts, finding peace in our reunion.

"Promise you won’t go again," Adelaide murmured, her small hands clutching my tunic.

"Promises are strong words, my dear–" I began, but Rhys cut in gently.

"We promise to always co back to you. That’s a vow we can keep."

"Good." Aiden’s voice held a firmness beyond his years. "Because we’re a family, and families stick together."

"Always," Rhys and I said in unison, sealing our oath with the weight of our love.

I watched as the palace healers, with their gentle hands and words, took great care in tending to Axureon and Saphira. The ancient wisdom in Axureon’s eyes shimred with gratitude, a silent nod of acknowledgnt before he was led away to rest.

"Co, my loves," Rhys called out softly, guiding our children by the hand as we made our way through the grand halls that echoed with the mory of our footsteps. Adelaide’s grip on my hand tightened with each step, her little fingers warm and trusting.

We reached the sanctuary of our private chambers, a place of velvet drapes and soft candlelight. Aiden wasted no ti, leaping onto the plush settee with a delighted squeal, while Adelaide twirled, her laughter mingling with the flicker of the flas.

"Tell us a story!" Aiden exclaid, his eyes alight with anticipation.

"Ah, but you shall have many stories," Rhys replied, sweeping Adelaide into his arms and spinning her around. "For every star in the sky has witnessed our journey, and they whisper tales to those who listen." I chuckled at his exaggerated language. My husband was an excellent storyteller, and the children always hung on his every word.

"Did the stars watch over you?" Adelaide asked, her voice a tender lilt as she settled into Rhys’ lap.

"Every night," I said, joining them on the settee. "And they sent your laughter on the wind to remind us of ho."

"Ho..." Aiden murmured, nestling against Rhys’ side. "I like it when you’re ho."

"And this is where we belong," Rhys assured him, planting a kiss atop his head, "with our fierce warrior queen and our brave little prince."

"Princess," Adelaide corrected with a grin, and Rhys chuckled.

"How silly of . Of course, our brilliant little princess."

I watched them, my heart brimming with emotions too vast for words. Rhys t my gaze. His eyes reflected the love that filled the room. We were warriors and leaders, but at that mont, we were simply parents, reveling in the wonder of our children.

"Mommy, did you fight monsters?" Aiden’s question pulled back from my thoughts.

"Many monsters," I replied, smoothing back his hair. "But none were a match for the magic we carry within us—the magic of family and love."

"Love is the best magic," Adelaide mused, snuggling closer to her brother.

"Yes, it is," I agreed, feeling the weight of battles past lift from my shoulders. In the warmth of our chamber, with Rhys’ arm around and our children safe between us, I found my strength renewed. Our love was our fortress, unyielding and boundless.

As I observed Rhys and how tenderly he spoke to our twins, how his once-haunted eyes now danced with joy, I realized that this very mont was what all of this was about. This is what we fought and sacrificed for. And it was more than worth it.

As the day wound down to night, we tucked our children safely in their beds. I smoothed the blankets over Adelaide, tucking the edges under her chin as she clutched her stuffed dragon—a gift from a previous victory. Aiden yawned, his little body curling beneath his covers, the excitent of our return finally giving way to drowsiness.

"Sleep tight, my loves," I whispered, brushing kisses on their foreheads. "Dream of sunlight and laughter."

"Will you keep the monsters away?" Aiden’s voice was muffled by sleepiness.

"Always," Rhys answered, his deep tone filled with an unspoken promise. He stood at the foot of their beds, his silhouette a reassuring presence in the dimly lit room.

"Your father and I will fight off any darkness that dares co near," I added, squeezing their hands gently.

"Forever and ever?" Adelaide’s eyes flickered open, seeking certainty.

"Forever and ever," Rhys and I said in unison, sealing it with a smile.

Satisfied, the twins nestled deeper into their dreams, their breaths soon rhythmic and soft. As I rose, Rhys’ hand found mine. Our fingers intertwined as we stepped back, watching them in silent reverence.

"Look at what we’ve created, Saoirse," Rhys murmured, his voice thick with emotion. I nodded, feeling the love swell within my chest and threatening to overflow.

"Beautiful, aren’t they?" My words were barely audible, drowned out by the symphony of my heart.

"Like their mother." His complint wrapped around like a warm cloak. I turned toward him, our gazes locking in the quiet of the chamber.

"Rhys," I began, but no more words ca. How could language encapsulate the gratitude, the depth of what he’d given —a ho, a family, a bond stronger than the fiercest magic.

"Shh," he soothed, thumb caressing my cheek. "I know, my fierce warrior. I feel it too."

His touch ignited a familiar warmth that had nothing to do with the battles we’d fought or the crowns we bore. It was us, Rhys and Saoirse, two souls intertwined beyond the realm of duty and destiny.

"Co," he said softly, guiding towards the door. "Let’s give them peace to dream."

We left the children’s room, our own chamber beckoning with the promise of solace and tenderness only found in each other’s arms. The door closed behind us with a gentle click, sealing away the world and its demands.

"Finally alone," I sighed, leaning into Rhys’ embrace.

"Finally," he echoed, his lips finding mine in a kiss that spoke of the longing kindled by our ti apart. It was slow and deliberate. The taste of him was both familiar and intoxicating.

"Rhys," I breathed against his mouth, my hands tangling in his hair. The urgency of our desires rose like a tide, washing over us with the force of pent-up passion.

"Let’s go to bed." His voice was husky, and his eyes darkened with the sa need that pulsed through my veins.

"Lead the way," I replied, a playful glint in my eye.

Hand in hand, we retreated to the sanctuary of our bedroom, shedding the weight of our titles with each step. That night, we were simply two hearts afla, eager to reaffirm the vows whispered in the quiet corners of our souls.

The bedroom was a cocoon of shadows and silver moonlight. Rhys’ hand was warm in mine as we crossed the threshold. The air was cool against my skin, but his presence was a blazing fire that threatened to consu whole.

"Are you cold?" he murmured, his voice a low rumble that vibrated through my bones.

"Never with you," I said, my words a whisper lost amidst the quiet rustlings of our clothing falling to the floor. He drew close. For a lingering mont, we stood there, bare and vulnerable yet stronger together than ever before.

His hands traced the contours of my body with worshipful reverence, mapping out a territory he had fought to protect and return to. Each touch was a promise, a declaration that I was his sanctuary, just as he was mine.

"Rhys," I said, my voice unsteady with the intensity of his gaze upon . It felt like the very first ti, even though each caress spoke of familiarity and a shared history woven into the fabric of our beings.

"Shh," he soothed, his lips finding mine again, a kiss that stole the breath from my lungs and replaced it with a fierce desire. "Let love you."

And he did. With every kiss, every touch, every whispered endearnt that spilled from his lips, he loved . He moved with unhurried grace, savoring each second as if ti itself had stilled to bear witness to our union.

"Tell you’re mine," he breathed against my neck, the heat of him enveloping completely.

"Always yours," I managed to gasp out, my hands exploring the strength in his shoulders and the power in his back. Together, we danced a slow, rhythmical dance as ancient as the stars watching over us.

"Say it again," he urged, his movents growing more insistent, driving us both toward a precipice we were all too eager to tumble over.

"Yours," I repeated, my voice breaking on the word as waves of pleasure crashed over , pulling under in their riptide.

"Mine," he affird, a triumphant growl escaping him as he followed into the depths, our bodies and hearts entwined in the most primal of bonds.

In the aftermath, we lay entangled, our breaths syncing once more after having been scattered by the storm of our passion. The stillness returned to our chamber, wrapping around us like a blanket.

"Love you," I murmured into the crook of his neck, safe in the knowledge that as long as we had each other, we could face any darkness.

"Forever," he replied, kissing the top of my head, sealing the vow that needed no words, only the beating of two hearts as one.
