*Zara*

Everything was spinning, but slowly, I was starting to regain consciousness. A low groan emitted from my lips as I shuddered, trying my best to figure out what was going on.

I was swaying, though not on my feet. The ground beneath wasn’t stable at all, which caused to tense in panic for a mont.

My eyes slowly opened, and I looked around the room. It was a cabin of so sort, ornately decorated. Realization dawned on that I was on so kind of boat.

That explained the rocking, and I relaxed just slightly as at least that question was answered. Everything else was up in the air, though.

My heart pounded as I recalled what happened. I’d been captured and brought... here. What ‘here’ was, I had no idea.

Whatever drug they gave , though, made feel very weak. I looked toward the door and realized that shifting and trying to get out wasn’t going to help get anywhere.

I wasn’t sure if I had the energy to even walk two steps.

My stress intensified as I began going through many dark scenarios in my head. What were the rogues going to do to ?

Suddenly, the door opened, and an imposing man strode into the room. He had deep red hair and dark gray eyes that seed to pierce my very soul. I shrank down in my bed, gulping.

“Good, you’re awake,” he said in a gruff voice. "I am Blaze, Beta to Alpha Daven of the Silver Fang pack. We have brought you aboard this vessel at your parents’ urgent request."

“My parents?” I murmured in confusion.

He gave a nod, keeping his eyes locked on . “The drugs will clear through your system soon. Apologies for obtaining you this way. It was urgent.”

I tried to figure out what exactly was happening. My parents knew I was pregnant now, and I knew they wouldn’t call for sothing as drastic as this.

They weren’t aggressive people and wouldn’t put through that. They were worried, but this was completely out of line. It just wasn’t like them.

Yes, Niva had ntioned their approval for helping a Dark Realm pack, and my mom had said she had a way to get out of there over the phone.

But this forcefully? No, sothing wasn’t adding up. Plus, why was I on a ship? Where were we going that required a voyage like this?

As if reading my thoughts, Blaze explained, "There is not a mont to waste. You are being transported to our pack lands in the Dark Realm for your safety. Alpha Daven has offered you sanctuary from Drogomor in exchange for finding a mate for his son."

“I’m sorry, but there is a misunderstanding. I need to be taken back as soon as possible to Drogomor.”

Blaze clicked his tongue impatiently. "I am under orders from both your parents and my Alpha to keep you safe.”

“I wasn’t in danger at Drogomor. There have been a series of huge misunderstandings, but I’ve never been mistreated. Noah was going to give ti to–”

“Drogomor’s Alpha Heir?” Blaze interrupted, narrowing his gaze. “He is the one who endangered you in the first place.”

“He didn’t endanger . Things happened. It’s very complicated, and–”

“Complicated, not complicated... whether you understand clearly or not, you were in danger there. Now, Alpha Daven wishes for you to aid his son in finding a suitable Luna once you have a mont to settle into the Silver Fang estate. Do you understand?”

“I don’t understand,” I said, my voice edged and irritated. “You don’t seem to understand what I’m saying either, this is–”

“I understand perfectly,” Blaze said, and now his tone was edged. “I don’t know what lies they fed you there, but either way, you are in our care, and you will get used to it.”

“I don’t get any say in what’s going on?”

“No. You do not. This will help us both in the long run, and it will satisfy both us and your very worried parents. You’ve gotten yourself into a lot of shit, Zara Star.”

“Can you tell your Alpha to please reconsider?”

“He will not be reconsidering.”

With that, he turned away and shut the door, leaving to sit there, still bewildered about the situation.

I put a hand on my forehead, looking around the room and seeing another door, most likely leading to the bathroom. I’d need to confirm that later when I could stand without falling back to the ground.

Sighing, I swore under my breath, clenching my fists and trying to focus on how this situation had co to be. My wolf was furious, wanting to demand to be let go again right this instant.

That was sothing I couldn’t do. I knew I’d need to sit here and deal with it for now while I thought things through.

Letting out a sigh, my thoughts turned to rida... who was really Serena.

I wondered if rida was completely gone and would never co back. Serena was tainting her mory to Noah, which was disgusting.

I didn’t believe for a mont that my parents had agreed to any of this. It must have been her work, given she clearly was working with this Dark Realm pack.

Did they have so sort of magic that erased Noah’s mories?

They didn’t co off as completely malicious to have done it on purpose, but maybe Serena obtained the ans for that by tricking them, too.

Either way, this was all so wrong. I laid back down, waiting for the effects of the drugs to fade as the ship swayed back and forth.

Here I was, captive on the ocean with no way to call for help. They had dragged off without my phone... or if they did grab it before they took , they didn’t give it back to now.

Would Blaze listen to regarding Serena? I doubted it.

That beca clear the next day when the door opened again. I’d taken care of myself with a shower, which had been refreshing, and I looked up as he brought breakfast.

“Blaze,” I said in a serious tone. “I need to get back to Drogomor. Please, this is extrely important. Soone there–”

“I don’t want to hear it. You’re not going back,” he snarled gruffly. He placed the breakfast on the side table, shot a warning glare, and exited.

I wasn’t going to give up yet.

Day two, and I tried again. “I am being dead serious. Things are not what they seem. Your pack is being led astray, and I need to help bring attention to–”

“Are you sure you’re not the one being led astray?” Blaze asked with irritation. “Either way, the decision is final. You will be aiding our pack with your skills. You will be protected and paid handsoly.”

“I’m not after the money right now. I can help your pack in the future, but–”

“Well, we need your help right now, and going back there is clearly going to endanger that mission and you in general. It is not happening, Miss Zara Star.”

“Please, I really–”

He put the food down, walked out the door, and shut it.

Damn it. These people weren’t going to listen to .

Day three, and I didn’t fare much better, either. My pleas kept falling on deaf ears, no matter how hard I tried to convince him.

I gave up trying when I felt the ship stop, reasoning that it was now docking, and I would find out more about this situation soon.

My nerves were completely frayed as we left the ship, and I was placed in a car that drove for several hours before it approached a huge, imposing fortress. It lood over this place and caused a feeling of unease to settle within .

My wolf balked, clearly wanting to get out of here as fast as possible. Unfortunately, I didn’t have that choice. I gulped, feeling my fear intensify significantly.

We entered the fortress, and I was led down so winding halls until arriving at a large throne room. A man was sitting in a throne-like chair.

He was tall, broad-shouldered, and extrely imposing. His eyes were piercing, like Blaze’s. Long dark hair fell over his shoulders and back. Clearly, he was Alpha Daven.

“Welco,” he said in a rich, deep voice. “Blaze has already briefed you on what your important task will be here.”

I nodded in confirmation, a deep frown on my face. I didn’t want to push my luck yet, so I said in an unamused tone, “He has.”

He tilted his head as he stared at . Then, an inscrutable expression crossed his face. “Perhaps I should request that you match with yourself," he said with a sly grin.

I folded my arms across my chest. "Yes, I’ve already heard that line," I responded sharply. My frown deepened. This callous humor was the last thing I needed.

Alpha Daven raised an eyebrow and chuckled, no doubt amused by the amount of fire that had been in my response. He dipped his head.

“Very well, let us get down to business then. You will help my son find a worthy mate as repaynt for taking you in. Consider it harnessing your... special skills, shall we say."

I narrowed my eyes, trying to figure out the best way to play my cards right. This was ridiculous. Anger swirled within as I bit back a retort.

He had such an overconfident tone, and clearly held all the power here. I was in no position to argue, which only made even more frustrated.

He’d kidnapped , for Goddess’s sake. And had the nerve to say the fee was ‘repaynt’ for my services was my unwilling ti here.

I needed to return to Drogomor as soon as possible and see Noah. I had to tell him what I knew before Serena could manipulate him even more.

I had a feeling that if he saw through her deception, she had the resources to hurt him horribly, too. I knew I wouldn’t be surprised if she was the source of his mory loss.

Even more important, we needed to be together again so we could claim our destined life together and raise our child.

“Matchmaker? Zara? Anyone in there?” Alpha Daven asked, clearing his throat.

I’d taken too long to answer, and I let out a sigh.

I needed to bide my ti and play the obedient guest until the opportunity to escape presented itself.

“I am, yes. Deep in thought about this... project.”

“So, you agree?”

“I don’t have much of a choice.”

“This is true.”

“Yes, I agree,” I said. “I will try to find a worthy mate for your son.”

“Excellent. I am glad we are all on the sa page.”

Once again, his tone made my eye twitch.

This was going to be a long ga of playing nice, I thought.
