Divorce?
Hearing the word, Ethan felt his heart clench violently.
Gazing at the woman sitting on the bed, his voice was low and raspy.
"Serena, I don’t care what Sylvia told you, but I will not divorce you. If you don’t believe , I can use ti to prove everything."
"My ti is precious. I don’t want to waste it on you."
Serena Yardley’s reply was incredibly cold.
’Since heaven let forget the pain of the past, it must an I’m not supposed to have anything to do with this man anymore.’
’While I still have no feelings for him, I should make a clean break.’
"Serena..."
Ethan opened his mouth, wanting to explain further.
But Serena flopped back onto the bed, coldly tossing out, "You should go. I’m going to sleep."
Ethan had no choice but to leave for the ti being.
Tucked into her blankets, Serena closed her eyes and tried hard to recall everything about Ethan.
To rember the child she once had.
But she couldn’t rember.
If she tried any harder, her head would hurt so much it felt like it was splitting open.
In the middle of the night, she tossed and turned, unable to sleep. Finally, she dialed Julian Thorne’s number.
Julian Thorne was filming a night scene and hadn’t rested yet.
His assistant handed him his phone. "Professor Thorne, you have a call."
Julian Thorne took it and glanced at the screen. Seeing it was a call from Serena Yardley, he hesitated for a mont before answering.
Over the phone, Serena’s voice was a bit hoarse. "Julian."
Hearing her voice, Julian Thorne felt his heart skip a beat.
He quickly replied, "Yes? What is it, Serena? Why aren’t you asleep so late at night?"
"Julian, I want to ask you sothing."
"Go ahead."
"Did I... was I pregnant with a child before, and did I lose it?"
Julian Thorne, "???"
’Serena was pregnant?’
’When did that happen? How could I not know?’
Julian Thorne told her the truth.
"I’m not sure about that. I actually haven’t known you for very long. We only started interacting when my sister moved in and beca your neighbor."
Serena Yardley fell silent.
’So Julian doesn’t know about this.’
After a mont of thought, she asked again, "You asked before if I rembered Sylvia Schuyler. Sylvia used to be Ethan Yardley’s fiancée, right?"
Julian Thorne didn’t know why Serena Yardley was calling him so late at night to ask these things.
But he didn’t want to lie to her.
He answered honestly.
"That’s right. Sylvia and Ethan were originally in an arranged marriage for business purposes. Later, Sylvia got into a car accident and went abroad. Their engagent was probably called off, which is likely why you ended up marrying Ethan."
Serena Yardley, "..."
’So what Sylvia said was actually all true.’
’Then why should I give that old man another chance?’
’I should stay far away from a man like that.’
"Serena, why are you suddenly asking about all this? Do you still not believe that Ethan is your husband?"
Julian Thorne asked.
Serena Yardley felt completely drained of strength.
She lay on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling, her eyes vacant.
Her voice was faint when she replied to Julian Thorne. "Julian, I want a divorce. Can you help find a lawyer?"
’If Ethan won’t agree to it, I’ll take him to court.’
Julian Thorne was stunned to hear this and hurriedly tried to defend Ethan.
"Serena, have you misunderstood sothing about Ethan? I can tell that he really loves you. There’s no need to go as far as divorce, is there?"
"Sylvia just ca and told that I was pregnant once, but Ethan didn’t believe the child was his, so he sent soone to get rid of it.
Sylvia also said that Ethan was the one who drove to jump into the river and attempt suicide."
Serena Yardley couldn’t hold back her emotions and started to cry.
"Julian, I wanted to give him a chance to prove himself, but I can’t accept the fact that I had a miscarriage.
And why do I rember everyone except him and Sylvia? Maybe my subconscious wanted to forget him all along.
That mory must have been too painful. Since I’ve forgotten it, I don’t want to rember it again. I don’t want to stay by his side and repeat the sa mistakes."
’While I still won’t shed a single tear for that man.’
’While my heart doesn’t ache for him yet, I need to cut these ssy ties quickly.’
After hearing what Serena Yardley said, Julian Thorne couldn’t bring himself to persuade her anymore.
He had also always suspected that Ethan had sothing to do with Serena’s suicide attempt.
If what Sylvia said was true, then Serena really wasn’t suited to stay by Ethan’s side.
After so thought, Julian Thorne said:
"About the divorce, I think it’s better if you discuss it properly with Ethan and try to part on good terms. If you file for a divorce lawsuit, you won’t be able to win against him."
’Even if I wanted to help Serena, as long as Ethan is unwilling, there’s really no one in the world who can stand against him.’
’Besides, I don’t want to make things so tense with Ethan. After all, our families have been friends for decades.’
"I understand. Thank you, Julian. You should get so rest."
Not wanting to put Julian Thorne in a difficult position, Serena Yardley hung up the phone.
The next morning, she pretended that nothing was wrong and happily went sightseeing all over the island with Nina Thorne.
Quinn Gardner and Ethan Yardley followed behind the two won.
For one, they were constantly watching out for their safety.
For another, they were ceaselessly taking beautiful candid photos of them.

But as she stood on the mountaintop, facing the sea with the wind on her face, gazing at the picturesque view of the entire island, her mind involuntarily recalled what Sylvia had told her.
She rembered the fact that she once had a child.
’If I hadn’t lost my child, how many months along would I be now?’
’And that man, Ethan Yardley, was the real culprit who killed my child.’
She didn’t want to spend another mont with such a cruel man.
Seeing him walk over again, Serena Yardley continued along the wooden path built into the mountainside.
Nina Thorne was about to follow, but Ethan Yardley strode forward and stopped her.
"You and your husband can co along later. I need to have a word with her."
Nina Thorne understood and consciously slowed her pace.
Carrying a water bottle and a cara, Ethan Yardley caught up to Serena Yardley and asked with concern:
"Are you thirsty? Want so water?"
Serena Yardley glanced back. Seeing that Nina hadn’t followed, she turned to go back the way she ca, trying to avoid Ethan Yardley.
But Ethan blocked her path, his tall fra casting a shadow over her, his eyes deep and lancholic.
"Serena, I admit I was wrong in the past, but I will make it up to you."
Serena Yardley’s anger flared at his words. She looked up and glared at him with hatred.
"Make it up to ? Can making it up to bring back the child I lost?"
