Sylvia Schuyler was stunned.

She couldn’t believe Ethan Yardley would get so furious with her.

’Could it be that in his heart, I’m not even as important as Serena Yardley’s sister?’

She stood there, unwilling to leave, and said tearfully, "Ethan, I..."

"I told you to get out! Didn’t you hear ?"

Ethan Yardley roared again.

He didn’t even spare her a glance.

Sylvia Schuyler jumped in fright.

It was the first ti she had ever seen Ethan Yardley so furious with her.

She was afraid that if she stayed any longer, she would push him too far and only make things worse, so she had no choice but to slip away dejectedly.

Seeing the child in his arms was still crying, Ethan Yardley instructed Mrs. Miller, "Get so ice."

Mrs. Miller hurried off.

She brought back the ice, wrapped in a cloth, and handed it to Ethan Yardley.

As Ethan Yardley took it and began to apply it to the child’s face, he asked Mrs. Miller, "Sylvia can see now?"

Mrs. Miller stood by and nodded. "Yes, sir. She still couldn’t see at her check-up today, but she could this afternoon. She insisted on coming back, so I brought her."

"Mm, you can go back to your work now."

Ethan Yardley now had an idea of the situation.

"WAAH... Ethan, why did that woman say she’s your fiancée? Don’t you have a wife?"

Raina asked while crying.

Ethan Yardley frowned. "She told you she was my fiancée?"

"Yeah, and she was really arrogant about it, too. She even said your wife is the other woman."

Ethan Yardley was speechless.

Looking at his injured little aunt, he knew that a child wouldn’t lie.

’So, maybe Sylvia wasn’t as gentle and understanding as I’d imagined?’

After he finished applying the ice to the child’s face, Ethan Yardley asked her, "Does it still hurt? How about I take you ho?"

Raina shook her head sadly. "I don’t want to go back. I’m ugly now. They’ll laugh at if I go back. I’m staying right here."

"Alright then. I’ll take you to your room to rest."

"Okay."

After personally seeing Raina to bed, Ethan Yardley suddenly stopped as he passed Serena Yardley’s door.

The thought that he might have truly misunderstood her crossed his mind, and he wanted to go in and see her.

But he couldn’t get over his pride.

In the end, he didn’t go in. He went to his study and worked late into the night before returning to the spare bedroom to sleep.

「The next day.」

When Serena Yardley got up and ca downstairs, she happened upon Ethan Yardley, impeccably dressed, sitting in the dining room and eating breakfast.

She wanted to pretend she hadn’t seen him and just leave.

But Mrs. Miller called out to her, "Miss Serena, you’re up! Co and have so breakfast."

Serena Yardley’s steps faltered. She replied evasively, "I... I’m not eating."

’She wanted to leave right away.’

Ethan Yardley watched her and asked coldly, "Where are you going?"

Serena Yardley straightened her back, not daring to look at him, and answered truthfully, "I’m going out to look for a job."

"Am I, Ethan Yardley, incapable of providing for you? That you, not even a graduate, have to go out and work."

His expression was incredibly grim.

Standing there, Serena Yardley suddenly had no idea what to do.

’If I leave, I’ll make him furious.’

’But if I stay, I’ll have no dignity.’

’So what on earth was she supposed to do?’

"Since Raina is staying here, you’ll keep her company for the next couple of days."

He assigned her a task, then commanded, "Co over and eat your breakfast."

Serena Yardley remained standing still.

"Do you not understand ?" Ethan Yardley snapped.

Serena Yardley had no choice but to turn around. With her head down, she ca to the dining table and sat.

When Mrs. Miller served her al, she quickly began to eat, not daring to lift her head.

Ethan Yardley watched her.

’Is Serena’s timidness because she’s afraid of ?’

’Am I that scary?’

’He suddenly thought that he preferred the cute, innocent, and simple Serena who used to cling to him with a constant smile on her face.’

’What was a grown man like doing, bickering with a young woman like her?’

Casting aside their previous unpleasantness, he softened his tone and said:

"I won’t let Sylvia co here anymore. And you, stop making a fuss. I don’t want to co ho from work every day and have to deal with your moods."

Hearing this, Serena Yardley didn’t respond, just kept her head down and quietly ate her food.

"Serena Yardley, what are you keeping your head down for? Am I so kind of monster? Why are you so afraid to look at ?"

Serena Yardley had no choice but to raise her head and et the man’s gaze from across the table.

Perhaps because she was upset, the expression on her small face looked pitifully aggrieved.

Seeing her pitiful appearance, a wave of tenderness washed over Ethan Yardley.

He softened his tone again. "Alright, what’s past is past. No more making a fuss."

Serena Yardley didn’t know how to respond.

She was afraid of making him angry.

If he was unhappy, she would be the one to suffer. In the end, she could only nod.

After finishing his al, Ethan Yardley got up, walked over to Serena Yardley, and stood beside her. He lifted his hand to cup her small face, his gaze gentle.

"Don’t wear such a long face. It’s so ugly."

Serena Yardley blinked her big eyes and forced a change in her expression.

Ethan Yardley leaned down and kissed her cheek, his voice gentle and smooth. "Be good. As long as you listen to and don’t throw tantrums, I’ll give you anything you want."

Serena Yardley nodded.

"I’m heading to work now. How about a little sothing?"

Serena Yardley knew what he ant by "sothing."

Though she was very reluctant, she still lifted her chin and, as the man leaned in, planted a kiss on his flawless, handso face.

Satisfied, Ethan Yardley raised his hand and ruffled her hair. "Stay ho and keep Raina company. Call if you need anything. I’m off to the office."

"Mm-hmm."

Only after watching him leave the house did Serena Yardley look away and continue eating.

Mrs. Miller ca to her side and said, "Miss Serena, did you know? Sylvia can see now."

Serena Yardley looked at Mrs. Miller. "She can see again so soon?"

"Yes. I suspect she was just pretending to be blind. You should have seen it last night. Sir got so furious with her, told her to get out, and forbade her from ever setting foot in here again."

Serena Yardley was a little suspicious. "Why did he suddenly treat her that way?"

"Because she hit your sister."

"My sister?" Serena Yardley frowned.

Mrs. Miller laughed. "You know, the one nad Raina Yardley. She looks about ten. Isn’t she your sister?"

Serena Yardley shook her head and explained, "She’s not my sister. She’s Ethan’s little aunt."

"Huh? Sir has an aunt that young?"

"Mm-hmm."

"Oh my goodness. No wonder Sir got so angry at Sylvia. It turns out Sylvia ssed with the wrong person."

Mrs. Miller couldn’t help but laugh. "Well, she really deserved it then. I’ve never seen such a shaless woman, brazenly trying to seduce another woman’s husband.

"Don’t worry, Miss Serena. Sir won’t be with her. I think you’re the only one he truly loves."

Serena Yardley was silent.

She gave a desolate smile inwardly.

’If only he loved .’

Just then, a sleepy, coaxing little girl’s voice ca from the direction of the stairs, "Niece-in-law, I’m so hungry."

Serena Yardley quickly got up and went over, asking with a smile, "Then what would you like to eat?"

Raina Yardley stood on the stairs, holding her arms out for Serena Yardley to carry her.

"Can we go out to eat? I want to eat those deep-fried street snacks. You have no idea, my mom never lets eat them. She says they’re unhygienic. Will you take to buy so, please?"

Mrs. Miller imdiately ca over and said, "Miss Raina, I can go buy them for you."

"I don’t want you to. I want my niece-in-law to go with ."

She pulled Serena Yardley down to her level and whispered in her ear, "I also want to drink milk tea and eat skewers. Bring lots of money, so we can go out and buy whatever we want to eat."

Rembering Ethan’s instruction to keep his little aunt company, Serena Yardley agreed to the little aunt’s request.
