Jax hadn't seen two monsters in a single place yet, and sohow there were three here. The elite monster was occupied by the party mbers, and they were occupied by it.

So, Jax was alone with the remaining two.

Jax could feel his heart beat faster and faster, the sound drumming against his ears. It was so loud.

A part of him told him to run, to escape. This was too early for him to die.

And yet, another part of him told him to stay. It told him that he could not leave so long as there was soone for him to save.

To save soone was a wish so deep for him that it had transcended him losing his mories. At this mont, it was also a curse that stopped him from running away with his life.

Jax looked beyond the tree and saw the moth coming down on Loma. Its legs were about to grab him. The worm was closing in as well. If he left now, there was no doubt that Loma would die.

He had to act.

Pushing aside his own fears, Jax ran out of the trees. In his hand were two bones he had pulled out from his Inventory, which he threw at the moth, targeting its two beady eyes.

The force with which Jax threw those bones was enough to hit the moth and push it back. His aim, however, was nowhere close to allowing him to hit the two eyes as he wanted to.

As the moth flew backward, Jax ran up to Loma and dragged him away. The man was nearly blue in the face now and had suffocated for so long that he was about to die.

Jax touched around to find the invisible threads and quickly cut them with the dagger he had brought out. With a single snip, the rest of the threads ca loose, allowing Loma to gasp for air.

Jax heard the beating wings and looked up just in ti to see the moth fly back toward him. Jax jumped away to dodge the moth, but he felt sothing wrap around his legs.

He couldn't quite land the jump as a result and hit his left shoulder hard on the ground. Ignoring the pain, Jax tried to get up, only to realize his legs were tied with the invisible threads.

Reaching down with his dagger, Jax quickly cut loose the threads and got up in ti to see Loma scream as he was placed into a cocoon by the silkworm.

He was completely wrapped within seconds, and while he scread and tried to tear through the cocoon, he wasn't able to.

Jax panicked for a mont, thinking he needed to save the man. He needed fire.

'But he has the matchsticks,' Jax rembered.

Seeing how Loma was screaming and wriggling around inside the cocoon, it was clear that his hands and legs weren't tied together. He was panicking at the mont, but very soon, he would stop and realize he had the matchsticks with him.

So long as the moth didn't attack him, he would be safer in the cocoon than outside.

'I just need to distract the moth,' Jax thought.

The moth did turn toward Loma, but Jax quickly caught its attention after tossing a few more bones in its direction. One of the bones hit it in the head, and that seed to anger it.

It ca for him.

Jax ran away, luring the moth away from the group. He didn't need to kill the moth. He only needed to distract it until his group was done with the elite.

At that point, it would be all over.

"Gemma, how does a moth fight? What can it do?" he asked while running.

Gemma didn't answer. In fact, she had disappeared so ti ago and had remained hidden for a while now. Where had she gone?

She hadn't told him anything before leaving.

Jax ran through the cobwebs while luring the moth. As he turned around from ti to ti to watch, he saw how the cobwebs seed to simply vanish around the moth with each beat of its wings.

It was almost as if the cobwebs of the forest were alive and knew when to move away when there was a monster walking through.

anwhile, he had to constantly wipe the webs from his face.

Jax had planned on running further away when he saw a large black bear not far from him. The bear hadn't noticed him yet, but if he went any further, it would.

'I can't go there,' Jax thought and quickly changed his direction to head to the right. But before he could, he felt sothing wrap around his body, pressing on him from all sides.

'Shit!' Jax thought as he was caught in the threads again, this ti his entire body. He couldn't move. He tried forcing it away, but the threads were tight.

The moth descended on him while he was immobile, its legs digging into his chest. The moth wasn't heavy, at least not to Jax, but its legs were rather thorny, like edges of sticks broken instead of cut.

It began scratching at Jax's chest through the threads.

Jax felt incredible pain blossom in his chest at the sa ti. His skin was no doubt lacerated at that mont with a thousand cuts, each one adding to the overall damage. Soon, the beast would scratch beyond the skin and truly kill him.

Jax scread in pain, and while he did, he wriggled his arm around, trying to sneak the dagger to where the threads were.

He felt the dagger touch against a highly tensed thread and attempted to cut it. However, he couldn't leverage much force into the dagger in the state he was in.

He needed more strength than this.

He scread even more as the moth scratched faster now, trying to dig into his chest.

Even as pain consud Jax, a part of his mind beca clearer than ever. He could think properly at that mont, far better than he could at other tis.

He understood he was going to die, but there was a path to victory. He just needed to get rid of the threads. For that, he needed strength.

Normally, he wouldn't have any way to bring out more power than what he already had, but Gemma had explained sothing to him earlier about how warriors added an extra bit of strength into their bodies.

'My Navi,' Jax thought. 'I need to use the Navi.'

His Navi was stored in a place called the Sea of Navi within his navel area. He imagined a sphere below his stomach and imagined himself drawing it out.

As he drew it out, he imagined pouring it all into his hand, strengthening it.

Even as red bled through his skin and covered his chest entirely, Jax focused on just that one thing. The only path to his survival.

He poured all the Navi within his pitiful 1-star Opal stage into his right hand. The Navi flowed through his body, arriving in just his right fist.

With the new strength, Jax gained enough force to cut the thread. The mont the thread snapped, his entire body ca loose.

The moth seed to have noticed that too, so it imdiately stopped attacking and tried to fly back. But as it was trying to, Jax caught its right wing with his left hand.

And with his right hand, he pulled up the dagger, the Navi still flowing into his fist, and jamd it directly into the moth's beady eye.
