*knock* *knock*
"Co in"
The door opened as a man dressed in black walked inside the boy's extravagant room.
"What news have you brought butler? I hope that you have done your work well," Benton asked nonchalantly.
Benton was not interested in the 'showdown' at all. But he had arranged for his bodyguard to record the details of it. He might not be thrilled to watch it but a written record always helps.
But at the mont the boy was too busy to read it and was thinking of skipping it altogether. But he didn't forget to ask for the confirmation of it from his guard before doing the sa.
'If it is just the plain usual one, then there is no point reading it.'
Benton had read too many records from a decade of history of the newbie camp to know what follows.
But contrary to his expectation the butler smiled.
"There is a lot of relevant information. I strongly recomnd you to go through the report."
"Fue?" Benton almost stumbled from his chair.
What was the purpose of the butler spouting such lie? Benton had no idea.
The boy tilted his head to the side as he nonchalantly removed the ribbons and opened the scroll.
But just after reading a few lines, the report had caught onto his intrigue as his eyes shot out wide. No longer could he read the details with droopy eyes as every line seems to carry weight and importance. Colt had certainly done a great job at changing the course of history.
'What the fuck? That Colt began to hire newbies for showing off his strength?'
Turned out that Klautz wasn't the only one whose plans didn't always go as he wanted them to. In the world of hell, making definite plans seed to be almost impossible no matter how smart the preparer was.
Benton could only wonder if a new tradition was just created among the other traditions of hell. Certainly the future generations that would be coming here would love to do such a thing.
'No, that's fine too. Since he lost that would just backfire on him… In fact it's good that he wasted so of his funds. He can no longer be a threat. But how the hell was he defeated…'
Benton couldn't help but think it as he reverse analyzed the reports. To find the criminal there was always a need to think exactly like the criminal even if you are an enforcer of justice.
Was it so kind of trick played by the others on him? A newbie couldn't certainly defeat soone like Colt could he? He couldn't help but believe that one of the second gen had secretly interfered in all of this.
In the end the conclusion he had reached was the sa as Colt.
"Keep an eye on all of those peers of mine for any kind of suspicious activities."
"And also notify as soon as Colt Achkerman wakes up. I need to talk to him." Benton ordered as he scanned the docunts again.
His work can go to the trash bin. At the mont this matter seed much more important to him.
Why was he reading the sa report again and again? There was only one reason.
'This na…'
There was one thing that had kept being stuck in his throat no matter how many tis he had read the report or tried to forget it. Colt might have ignored it before but Benton wasn't as dense to have ignored sothing like this.
"As you wish. I shall take my leave," the butler bowed a custy one as he turned around but an abrupt cry brought him to a halt.
"Wait…" Benton continued, "This Klautz, isn't he the sa person I had t at the entrance ceremony?"
A faint mory at the back of his mind. Sothing which he had long forgotten even if not a day passed since its occurrence. Alas, the weak newbies only held that much importance in his brain.
But surprisingly enough the butler nodded.
"Yes…"
"Is that so?"
Benton held onto his chin.
"I see, you can leave."
The butler bowed again as he left.
*Bam*
The door slamd behind making Benton stare at the closed doors.
"This is not a matter I can let m followers handle. There is simply too much risk."
Unlike Colt, Benton was aware of the implications of dealing with the newbies. It was always a losing battle.
Win against them? There was no gain. Lose against them? All of your reputation that you have built up upon the years would be lost in a sweep.
But the possibility for such a thing had always been bleak so much so that all of the second gen already forgot about the threat of dealing with the newbies carelessly.
"But what if he is different? No…"
Benton shook his head.
"I cannot use any direct asures to deal with him."
Klautz's little trick had finally taken effect albeit a bit late. After all he had approached Benton not out of curiosity or due to being struck with awe. But rather he had done it for his own selfish motives. It was for this very reason.
If Benton and Colt had created a deep unshakable impression on the newbie's heart making their existence undeniable. Then Klautz had done the sa with the second gen at the very sa event.
By making himself stand in front of their leader, face to face as if he were on equal standing even after the horrific show, he indeed had left a deep unforgettable existence in their brains even if they could hardly rember any other newbie.
It was through such small steps that Klautz wanted to build the foundation upon which he could stand on equal grounds with them.
