Essentially, magus are researchers at heart—they beco obsessed with things they find interesting and will research them tirelessly, day and night. Roa was no different. As one of the Twenty-Seven Dead Apostle Ancestors designated by the Church, his greatest obsession was eternity. The extraordinary regenerative abilities of Ciel fascinated him the most.

Before long, the scene he had been waiting for unfolded: limbs reattached, blood flowed back.

Roa reached out to stop the regeneration but found that no matter how he continued to sever the limbs or tried to absorb the blood like a vampire, it had no effect.

The shattered limbs would regenerate in the next instant, and the blood he tried to consu would seep out from his body, ultimately returning to Ciel, awakening her once again.

The first words she heard upon waking were Roa's words of admiration.

"This is truly remarkable regenerative power. No, this isn't just regenerative power. You were indeed dead just now. No matter how powerful one's regenerative abilities are, they cannot activate after death. Let thoroughly unravel the principle behind your resurrection."

Ciel was just about to gather strength when the dagger ca down again.

This ti, Roa was prepared and left no room for resistance.

What followed was an extrely cruel and bloody scene. In just a little over ten minutes, Roa repeatedly destroyed Ciel's body, only to watch her recover again and again.

Slashing, striking, stabbing, magecraft.

Dismbernt, trepanning, disembowelnt, even direct dissection.

No matter what thod he used, no matter how her body was destroyed or even if she stopped breathing, the girl's body would return to its original state after a fixed period.

At first, Ciel struggled and resisted, but eventually, she gave up resistance and silently endured the pain over and over again until Roa concluded.

"Though it's hard to believe, once you've eliminated all the wrong answers, what's left must be the truth. The reason you can regenerate repeatedly isn't due to so mystical treasure, the power of another, or even your abilities. It's a phenonon akin to ti reversal, produced by the world itself to correct contradictions. This is a miracle that even True Ancestors cannot achieve. Even if your body were utterly destroyed, leaving not a single piece of flesh or cell, you would still recover completely unscathed."

Roa chuckled, his laughter grating as he gleefully drew his conclusion.

"What an absurd life you have. Compared to you, my infinite reincarnation and Araya's Stillness origin seem insignificant. You are the real immortal; you are the true monster!"

"Mon...ster..."

The girl who had been trapped in a cycle of death and rebirth over and over again moved her lips.

"Louder, I can't hear you. I didn't damage your vocal cords or lungs this ti; your speech should be functional," Roa urged impatiently.

"Monsters shouldn't exist in this world. They must die."

Ciel's lips suddenly curled into a smile, and her hands, like sharp swords, thrust toward Roa's heart and head.

Roa was prepared, dodging backward and skillfully severing her arms.

"How boring. I thought there'd be sothing new, but it's just the sa old—"

"Watch out."

Halfway through his sentence, Araya suddenly shouted.

A powerful force struck Roa, sending him flying.

Imdiately after, a silver light tore through the night, shrieking as it pierced through the spot where Roa had been standing, blasting a large hole in Ciel's chest.

A chill ran down Roa's spine. He turned to see that the Seventh Holy Scripture, which had been thrown far away earlier, had been picked up by soone, its barrel aid directly at his heart. The silver light from earlier had been the tip fired from the Scripture.

It turned out that Ciel had never given up. Her earlier surrender was to lull Roa into a false sense of security, and her sudden attack was ant to divert his attention. If Araya hadn't noticed sothing was off and pushed him, Roa would have been severely injured.

"So, there's another one!"

The vampire's face twisted in fury. The more one pursued eternity, the more one feared death. The brush with death and the feeling of being inches from it left Roa intensely displeased.

However, the expression of the person opposite him was even more terrifying. The hatred and madness that radiated from them were almost inhuman, and even their voice took on a sinister tone.

"Ko-to-mi-ne Ki-rei!!!"

The nun, clutching a pile bunker, scread as though she was using every ounce of her strength, to vent her anger.

"I finally found you!!!"

"You are..."

The ntion of the na, combined with the intense hatred that rivaled Ciel's, caused Roa to pause slightly.

"What? He is Kotomine Kirei?"

Ciel's pupils contracted. As Caren drew Roa and Araya's attention, the world once again restored her body. Knowing that she stood no chance in close combat, Ciel quickly retreated to regroup with her ally.

"Yes, no matter what he becos, I can recognize him!"

At this mont, Roa—or rather Kotomine Kirei—noticed the nun's long silver hair and golden eyes, and the confusion on his face was replaced by joy.

"So, it's Caren. Yes, the man nad Kotomine Kirei is indeed my current reincarnation. Heh heh heh, what a day this is, for both daughters to show up together."

"Today is the day you die."

Caren handed the pile bunker back to Ciel, and from her seemingly slender fra emanated a vast aura of darkness.

"I see. So that's why the so-called Saint Kotomine Kirei suddenly went mad."

Ciel tore off her shredded habit, revealing a body clad only in a tight-fitting suit, with blue crosses marked on her exposed shoulders.

"Roa, your cris have increased by one more."

"I've long since stopped caring about the number of my sins," Roa shrugged indifferently.

"But I must correct one thing—Kotomine Kirei was never the Saint you say he was. He was, like , an incurable sadist."

"That's nonsense!"

Ciel didn't believe him at all. When assessing Caren, she conducted a detailed investigation on Kotomine Kirei. If that man wasn't a Saint, then no one in this world could be called a Saint.

"Don't be so quick to deny it, Elesia. When did I leave your body? And when was Kotomine Kirei born? You have all my mories from before, so you should know my reincarnation pattern. If there wasn't a special reason, why would I choose him as my reincarnation? And he didn't disappoint . After realizing his true nature, he actively rged with my soul. In eighteen reincarnations, this was the first ti sothing like that happened."

Roa spread his arms, half-closing his eyes as if savoring the mory.
