It was warm.

That was Yan Wanqing’s first thought.

Could King Yama Hall be this warm after death?

Was she about to et her father and brothers...

"No, you won’t die."

In her groggy state, soone interrupted her increasingly distant thoughts, forcefully pulling her back.

The next second, pain enveloped her entirely, so much so that Yan Wanqing instantly opened her eyes.

"Hiss—" she couldn’t help but inhale sharply.

Hearing the noise, soone hurriedly entered, a woman dressed matronly with a kind expression approached Yan Wanqing and said, "Are you awake?"

"Where is this?" Yan Wanqing realized she could hardly speak when she tried to talk.

"Last night, you were isolated and attacked by a pack of wolves, do you rember that?" the woman said with a smile, "My na is Zhuo Ma, you can call that. My full na is too long, I’m afraid you won’t rember it, so I won’t ntion it."

Zhuo Ma realized Yan Wanqing might be thirsty after just waking up, so she had prepared so tea earlier and placed it nearby.

"I’ll help you sit up to drink so water." The kind Zhuo Ma gently helped Yan Wanqing to sit up.

Despite the pain, Yan Wanqing finished the cup of water.

The thirst in her heart finally eased sowhat.

She rembered being knocked unconscious directly by the Wolf King—how could she have ended up here?

"Who saved ?"

Yan Wanqing asked.

Zhuo Ma pointed outside, "The person who saved you is still outside. Once you’re better, you can thank him yourself."

Yan Wanqing wanted to say more, but her brain was suddenly pulled back into darkness.

She did not know how many tis she had woken up, she felt exhausted, yet clear-headed.

It was deep into the night now.

Yan Wanqing had no idea how many days she had been lying there.

She estimated that Marshal Li had already arrived in Xiliang City.

Fortunately, she had handed the Marshal’s Seal to him to bring along earlier. Marshal Li, being a righteous man, gave Yan Wanqing so peace of mind.

Now, her only source of anxiety was the injuries on her body.

She wanted to quickly suppress the Japanese Pirates and then lead ample forces to support Xiao Pingfeng.

After being attacked by the pack of wolves, Yan Wanqing now knew very clearly what she wanted.

She needed to find Xiao Pingfeng and explain everything clearly about the situation.

Even if Xiao Pingfeng did not forgive her afterward, she would have no regrets.

Could anything be worse than last night?

Yan Wanqing ca to terms with it.

She propped herself up slowly, refusing to lie down any longer, lest she beco completely bedridden.

She was acutely aware of her own physical condition.

Besides the bite wounds from the wolf attack, the rest were from where Li Chengyuan had stabbed her arm with a hairpin.

Li Chengyuan’s hairpin must have been unique.

She rembered when she pulled it out, the hairpin had barbs on it, with her own flesh hanging on them, the pain making her scalp tingle.

For now, she could only rely on her left hand for strength.

Through her relentless effort, fortunately, she managed to get up using her left hand.

Bearing the pain, Yan Wanqing slowly got out of bed, then put on her shoes and went to the door. The mont she opened the door, the cold moonlight poured in.

It was the first ti she had seen such a big moon.

It seed large enough that stretching out a hand might allow one to touch it.

She walked out from the doorway and found herself between brick buildings.

Walls made of bricks surrounded her tightly; only the moon above was free.

Yan Wanqing walked around the wall but didn’t find a way out.

Logically, it shouldn’t be impossible to escape, at most, it was just a village wall, and she wasn’t foolish, so how could she not find a way out?

Yet, everywhere she walked, there were walls.

Yan Wanqing then realized soone skilled had set up a Formation here.

She tried to go back, but she couldn’t find the way.

Great, she finally got out of bed only to trap herself inside this Formation.

With no alternatives, Yan Wanqing began to search for the eye of the Formation, planning to break it to return to the room she had been in, and to also see where she actually was.

Enduring her pain, she walked a bit further and finally noticed so oddly arranged stones on the ground. Just as she was about to head over, a deep voice ca from behind her.

"What are you doing?"

The body Yan Wanqing had turned away shuddered slightly.

The person behind her walked forward with furrowed brows, "Who let you co down?"

Yan Wanqing turned around and saw his handso face reflected in her moist eyes, his sharply contoured face weathered to a healthy bronze from long exposure to the sun, and beneath the thin clothes was a robust body.

"I’m asking you a question—aren’t you mute?" He looked at Yan Wanqing with furrowed brows.

Yan Wanqing was stunned, "No, I’m not mute."

"Then why did you leave your bed on your own?" the man asked coldly with furrowed brows, "You know your wounds are bleeding by just walking around?"

It was the first ti Yan Wanqing had been scolded like this.

She stood there sowhat dazed, at a loss for words.

"It’s foolishness, don’t you know how expensive and rare the dicine used to treat you is?" the man said irritably.

Yan Wanqing pursed her lips, "Then I’ll pay you."

"Who wants your filthy money?" the man rejected the offer without thinking.

Ever since this man had appeared, he had been losing his temper at her, and Yan Wanqing couldn’t help but feel a twinge in her nose.

She tried to suppress her emotions, but could not hold them back.

Tears sprang uncontrollably from her eyes.

When the man saw her tears, he was taken aback before saying, "I barely scolded you and you are already crying. I didn’t see you cry when you fought the Wolf King."

"I did cry," Yan Wanqing murmured in response, "It hurt and I cried."

Hearing her add that, the man almost cracked a smile, but he forcibly suppressed it, "I see."

Yan Wanqing nodded.

"So, you do know pain." the man couldn’t help saying.

"I’m human, of course I know pain," Yan Wanqing stared into the man’s eyes, speaking very seriously, "I’m not dead. Dead people don’t feel pain."

"Let’s go back, I will take you back," the man said to Yan Wanqing.

He walked ahead a few steps, but seeing that Yan Wanqing hadn’t moved, he raised an eyebrow, "Why are you just standing there?"

Yan Wanqing naturally extended her hands, "I’ve already walked around the Formation many tis. You also said my wounds are bleeding. If I keep walking I’ll just be wasting the dicine you gathered for ; it’s not worth it."

"So, what are you suggesting?" the man cautiously looked at Yan Wanqing, "You aren’t expecting to carry you, are you?"

"Isn’t it obvious?" Yan Wanqing stretched out her arms wide; she could only raise one arm, so she stretched it as much as she could to show she really needed the man’s support.

The man frowned, "It’s improper for a maiden who hasn’t married to be so close to a man."

Seeing him stationary, Yan Wanqing’s face slowly turned into a scowl.

She limped up to him with great effort.

"Hey! We’ve already slept together, what virtue are you pretending to have now?"
