Chapter 91: Chapter 91: Bridal Chamber
Upon seeing them, Grandma Pei was imdiately shocked.
The woman next to her grandson, wasn’t that Shen Heyu? Moreover, holding her little girl, that girl looked incredibly similar to Pei Yansi—almost nine-tenths!
It was evident that she was his daughter!
She was stunned; although she never pressed him about settling down in these six years, he also never brought any woman ho, and suddenly, he brought one and ca with a family attached!
It was a huge surprise for her!
With a smile, Grandma Pei laughed heartily as she walked up, took Yuexue’s hand, looked her over from left to right, and praised, “What a beautiful little girl! Heyu, have you and Yansi made up? That’s wonderful, having a happy ho ans prosperity in all things!”
“What’s the little girl’s na? Oh my, her little mouth looks so much like Heyu’s, so beautiful, as if carved from fine jade!”
Yuexue looked at Grandma Pei’s smiling face. Children are very direct in discerning goodwill from malice, and most are innocent with the most straightforward ways to identify it.
Yuexue could feel the kindness radiating from Grandma Pei, which was different from the woman who hit her at ho today.
Thus, she smiled sweetly and called out, “Grandma!” which was a term ‘Daddy’ taught her in the car.
Although… she wasn’t sure if it was right to call her that, but since her mother didn’t correct that bad man claiming to be her dad, it must be correct!
Hearing this, Shen Heyu was montarily taken aback.
Grandma Pei was overjoyed, her smile was so wide she could hardly close her mouth, she responded several tis, “Good child, what’s your na?”
“Shen Yueyue.”
“Good, Yueyue, co, let’s go back to the house with Grandma. I’ve made a lot of delicious food tonight!”
As Grandma Pei spoke, she wanted to carry Yueyue, but looking at her frail self and considering Yueyue was five or six years old, she worried she might drop the child, so she cautiously held Yueyue’s hand and walked toward the Pei Family’s main living room.
Yueyue followed her into the house with a loud, pleasant, and crisp laugh.
Shen Heyu watched the old and young walk away side by side and suddenly felt an illusion that she was just a happy wife of an average family.
But the presence of the man next to her reminded her it was impossible.
She didn’t look at Pei Yansi, just coldly dropped a comnt, “Today, for Grandma’s sake, this will not beco a habit. After dinner, I will take Yueyue away.”
Pei Yansi followed her, “You called her Grandma.”
Shen Heyu paused. They were no longer husband and wife, so she should have called her “Grandma Pei.”
But unexpectedly, after six years, these mories were still deeply engraved in her heart. She never really forgot.
It was even still a habit.
She didn’t respond to him and walked straight ahead.
Pei Yansi continued, “Stay here tonight, and tomorrow I’ll take you and your daughter to the apartnt in the city.”
He used a very intimate tone as if they were a loving husband and wife raising their beautiful daughter together.
But Shen Heyu didn’t fall for his enticent.
She walked into the Pei Family’s ancestral living room. Nothing had changed here. Just like six years ago, the dining table was laden with many dishes.
It seed like soone in the kitchen had been given a heads-up and specially prepared it.
She was surprised to find herself sitting in the sa seat as before their divorce, and he sat next to her.
And Yueyue was pulled by Grandma Pei to sit next to her.
Grandma Pei adored her imnsely, continuously picking dishes for her with chopsticks and asking her various questions.
When Yueyue talked about her life abroad, she said seriously, “Mom works very hard every day… although, everything she gives is very good and exquisite.”
“But even so, she still makes ti to spend with every day. Sotis the neighbors laugh at us. But, Mom taught Yueyue to be strong, it’s really nothing, I just hope Mom doesn’t have to work so hard.”
The child’s words were straightforward yet sincere.
Shen Heyu felt a lump in her throat.
When Yueyue was younger, Shen Heyu had not yet secured her position in the Shen Group and was very busy every day, often returning ho only after Yueyue had fallen asleep.
During those tis, it was mostly Aunt Ning who took her place to accompany Yueyue.
But later, she tried her best to make up for it, and although it helped, she still felt guilty.
Grandma Pei listened and sighed deeply, saying, “It’s okay, it will be better in the future. Your father will help her.”
Yueyue blinked and asked, “Is that big villain really my dad?”
Grandma Pei nodded, “Yes! He is indeed the big villain, but that was before. Now he’s reford, and you can help monitor him together with your mom.”
Yueyue uttered an “oh,” her curious gaze finally landing on Pei Yansi.
The curiosity in the child’s eyes was undisguised.
Her innocent scrutiny, however, seed like another form of judgnt in the eyes of businessman Pei Yansi, almost as if judging whether he was worthy, and involuntarily, he straightened his back.
Like a child sitting straight in front of a teacher during a scolding, fearing any dissatisfaction might lead to a harsher reprimand.
He did not know why he reacted this way.
Perhaps, hearing Yueyue’s words made him feel uneasy. He had missed her childhood, missed the six years Shen Heyu had raised their daughter alone.
As a man, a man of great wealth, this was a great failure.
After a while, Yueyue withdrew her gaze.
She felt no desire to interact.
After dinner, the sky had completely darkened, and Yueyue, too tired, fell asleep against the soft sofa.
Shen Heyu, holding her, intended to leave.
But Grandma Pei stopped her, “It’s too late, the child is already asleep, and it would be inconvenient for you to carry her and tidy up a new ho. Stay here tonight, I’ll sleep with her. Tomorrow morning we can talk about whatever grievances there are, we can’t let the child suffer.”
Shen Heyu hesitated for a mont.
Pei Yansi had already taken Yueyue from her arms.
The child slept heavily, not easily waking from her slumber.
He handed his daughter to Grandma Pei and turned to Shen Heyu, saying, “Grandma said today that the matrimonial ho has been cleaned. We’ll stay here tonight.”
Shen Heyu refused, “I can stay here, but I won’t go to the matrimonial ho.”
There weren’t many people in the living room, just two or three aunts cleaning the kitchen. Pei Yansi stared at her for a while, then took her wrist and headed to the second floor without discussion.
Shen Heyu, pulled by him, could not touch the ground, unable to resist.
And so, he dragged her to their matrimonial room.
It had been many years since she had returned here.
The furnishings inside hadn’t changed at all except for an ashtray added on the coffee table and a clear indentation on the sofa, marks of soone sitting there frequently over a long period.
Shen Heyu rembered what Grandma had said today.
He spent every night here.
