Chapter 382: Chapter 382 Stepdad

Shen Heyu paused, montarily unable to grasp the aning of his words.

Lu Yi said, “I want to be a stepfather.”

Shen Heyu looked up at him and deliberately responded, “Stop joking.”

As she spoke, she casually grabbed a bag of chips and threw it into the shopping cart, along with several items needed for a spring outing and picnic, one by one into the cart.

Lu Yi watched her actions, following her and said, “I’m not joking; I’m serious.”

Shen Heyu looked at him oddly, “But we agreed to just be ordinary friends.”

Lu Yi said, “That was in the past when you were still with Pei Yansi. Now it’s different. I still don’t want to give up on you. During college, I was foolish. Then, I went abroad and missed my chance. I hope you can give this opportunity.”

Shen Heyu remained silent, her head down, not replying. She held a picnic mat in her hand, her expression unreadable, lost in thought.

Lu Yi stood by her side, “No matter what, it must be tough living alone with Yuexue like this. I don’t want to see you struggle; I want to help you.”

“I want to be part of your life, not just as your partner but also as Yuexue’s dad.”

Shen Heyu looked at him, “Give so ti to think about it.”

This ti she did not outright reject him, which made Lu Yi feel hopeful, a bright light flickering in his eyes, “Alright, I’m willing to wait as long as it takes.”

His eyes glead brightly, unreservedly joyous as he looked at Shen Heyu.

Shen Heyu paused, unaware that her simple statent could cause such a significant change in his emotions.

Shen Heyu just felt that Pei Yansi was soon to marry another, and he needed his own life while she certainly couldn’t stay the sa.

She wanted to live better. Of course, that doesn’t just happen through marrying soone, but she knew that marrying Lu Yi would certainly make her life easier, especially for Yuexue.

Her daughter could have a complete family. Knowing Lu Yi, he would treat Yuexue as his own, no less dedicated than Pei Yansi.

Given this, she, now single, was willing to give Lu Yi an opportunity, which was more like giving herself a chance to start anew.

She didn’t want to be trapped in the mories of Pei Yansi forever.

He could remarry, and so could she, right?

With these thoughts, Shen Heyu prioritized her happiness, and she felt much better.

She and Lu Yi headed back with the tools, and Lu Yi walked around her house, thinking of how to convince Shen Heyu to move.

He said, “Yuexue’s room doesn’t seem to get very good light; maybe we should move?”

Shen Heyu looked at her daughter’s room and realized it was true. Although they had been very thorough when choosing this apartnt, due to the tight timing and limited availability, Shen Heyu had overlooked this issue.

Poor lighting was not good for her daughter’s life.

Shen Heyu said, “But I’ve already looked for a long ti, and I haven’t found anything better than this.”

After thinking for a mont, Lu Yi suggested, “I have a villa in this city. Why don’t you and Yuexue move there?”

“How could that be?”

Shen Heyu instinctively refused, “Your house should be kept for your future family, not now…”

Before she could finish her sentence, Lu Yi interrupted her, “If it’s not you, then my future family has no aning.”

“So it’s empty either way, you might as well take Yuexue there first. There’s no need to be so formal with ; even if we’re not in that kind of relationship, I’m still your friend.”

Only by leaving this place would Yansi, even if he ca looking later, not necessarily know where she was.

After all, that villa was his territory, and Pei Yansi might find it difficult to search or maybe he wouldn’t even be able to find it.

Especially with his help.

Shen Heyu thought for a while and ultimately decided that Yuexue was more important, so she agreed. With Lu Yi’s help, her move was much easier and saved a lot of ti.

It only took one day, and everything was properly arranged.

By the third day, she had completely moved.

It was the weekend and winter had finally passed; spring had arrived, bringing everything back to life—a perfect ti for a spring outing. Last ti, Shen Heyu and Lu Yi had already bought the necessary items, and taking advantage of the weekend, they took Yuexue for a spring outing.

In the Southern city, there were always many hills suitable for spring outings.

The three of them set off together, looking very much like a family of three; Yuexue, sitting in the back seat, was excitedly waving her arms and feet, “Mom, this is my first spring outing!”

Shen Heyu lovingly patted her daughter’s head, “Have a good ti.”

Her daughter nodded vigorously, “Thank you, Uncle Lu, for taking care of and my mom for such a long ti!”

Lu Yi smiled slightly, his hand on the steering wheel, and gently asked Yuexue, “Do you like Uncle Lu?”

Yuexue nodded vigorously again, “I do.”

Lu Yi glanced at her through the rearview mirror, “Would you want Uncle Lu to always live with you and your mom?”

Hearing this, Shen Heyu glanced at him anxiously, feeling that he had asked too soon. She hadn’t fully considered it herself; there was no need to ask Yuexue about this now.

However, Yuexue didn’t find it abrupt. She also understood the deeper aning of his words—she was about to enter first grade and knew that a dad and mom ant a married couple.

If Uncle Lu and mom stay together forever, then they are a married couple.

Yuexue nodded seriously, “Of course I would. It’s tough for mom to take care of by herself. If Uncle Lu is with us, mom will be much more relaxed.”

Lu Yi smiled, and as they approached a traffic light, he stopped the car and turned to pat Yuexue’s head, “Very good.”

Yuexue chuckled.

She was always a cheerful girl and took things easier in these matters. She only hoped that Shen Heyu would have a good life, and she could also tell right from wrong directly.

She could see that Lu Yi was a good person. If he stayed with Shen Heyu, she would definitely be better off.

Shen Heyu looked at her daughter, feeling that she was mature, not like a child of her age. She didn’t know whether to feel sad or comforted.

Half an hour later, they parked their car at Xiangshan Park. This was the largest park for spring outings in the city, always bustling with people every spring.

Lu Yi brought the equipnt and found a quiet spot to set up everything for the outing.

Yuexue was extrely excited—it was her first ti experiencing such an outing and cooking outdoors, and she found the food laid out on the picnic mat quite fascinating.

The three of them imrsed themselves in the relaxation of the spring outing.
