Shen Heyu thought about the deal she had made with Pei Yansi before, where if she obediently followed him back, he would remove all obstacles for her.

Pei Yansi looked at Shen Heyu on the hospital bed, her eyelashes trembling, obviously awake but stubbornly not opening her eyes—the reason for which was clear.

He called out coolly, without casting her a glance.

She cautiously looked at him and said, “Yansi, do you have a mont right now, could you please go see Ling ng?”
Pei Yansi shook his head, denying directly, “I’m not available. Sorry.”
He finished speaking and was about to close the door.
Mother Chen desperately reached out to block it from closing successfully and then said, “Yansi, please, I’m begging you. You and she grew up together as children, surely there’s so friendship…”
“Now she’s awake, but she’s ntally unstable, screaming and yelling that she wants to see you, saying she will commit suicide if she can’t see you. Please, do this favor. She’s my daughter; please help ?”
Mother Chen looked at Pei Yansi with pleading eyes, her own eyes red-rimd, the tip of her nose also red, clearly having cried a lot, her entire state appeared worn, as if she had aged many years overnight.
Pei Yansi had never seen Mother Chen like this before,

He walked past Mother Chen and headed towards Chen Lingng’s ward.

Chen Lingng sat on the hospital bed, her face red from crying, choking and looking utterly pitiful.
Yansi absolutely couldn’t muster a shred of pity for her.
He walked over, looking down at Chen Lingng from above, “You’re awake?”
His tone was very indifferent, hardly emotional.
But for Chen Lingng, that was like rain after a long drought, hope. She hadn’t expected him to co see her, and her collapsing emotions instantly stabilized. She lunged forward, clutching him tightly.
The movent pulled at the IV catheter in the back of her hand, dislodging the needle from beneath her skin, and a few drops of fresh blood flowed out.
But she paid it no mind.
She clung to Pei Yansi, crying and pleading, “You finally ca to see . Brother Yan Si, I thought you would never speak to again, but you’re really here.”
Chen Lingng was beside herself with excitent. As she spoke, tears fell, trembling as she embraced Pei Yansi.
Pei Yansi only felt disgust and irritation.
He pushed her hands away from himself, stepping back to distance himself from her before finally saying, “I only ca because Aunt Chen told you tried to kill yourself and wanted to see you one more ti. However, what I want to say is, if you don’t even love yourself, don’t expect others to love you.”
His tone and expression were just too cold.
Chen Lingng felt the pain deeply, inside and out.
At the mont, she couldn’t find any words to describe how she felt.
She cried, tears rolling down in large drops. She reached out to pull on Pei Yansi again, but he stepped back, widening the distance between them.
His expression grew even colder, “If you approach without reason again, I will never co to see you.”
When Chen Lingng heard this, she stood frozen in place. She just lifted her head to look at him through tears, “Brother Yan Si, I love you, I really love you. All the years abroad, there wasn’t a single day I didn’t think of you…”
“Please don’t make marry Lu Yi, okay? I only want to marry you, take as your wife, I want to be married to you…”
“We had agreed, hadn’t we? That we would marry when I return to the country. Why are you with that Shen Heyu? You lied to , betrayed our feelings…”
Chen Lingng rambled on and on incoherently, tears flowing like a breached dam that couldn’t be stopped.
She cried inconsolably, her body trembling nonstop.
Mother Chen saw her daughter in such a state and was overco with heartache. She quickly stepped forward, patting Chen Lingng’s shoulder to soothe her, comforting her, “Take care of yourself first…”
Pei Yansi snorted with a laugh, his sarcasm toward her unrestricted in his laughter.
He stared at her, “I have never made such a promise with you; it’s all your own delusions. Please have so self-respect. Additionally, this is all I will say, and this is the only ti I will co to see you. If you still want to kill yourself, there’s nothing I can do.”
Having said this, Pei Yansi turned to leave.
But then, as if a thought struck him, he added, “If you’re crying over a man like this, it’s just not worth it. You’re a woman, you should live life your own way, not desperately for a man.”
“Such behavior only devalues you, nothing more.”
