Chapter 302: Chapter 302: Facing Crisis

After Shen Jiangli returned from Jiang City these past few days, the company faced frequent troubles.

First, an employee violated the law and was reported, followed by various business projects encountering issues—either the budget was incorrect or the other party canceled the cooperation.

Even international collaborations suffered severe accidents.

Shen Jiangli didn’t need to think twice to know that only Pei Yansi could orchestrate such a grand sche.

And now most importantly, his collaboration with the Pei Family, a major project that was shifting his business from abroad to dostically, was cancelled because of one word from Pei Yansi.

If this situation continued to develop, the Shen Group would inevitably be suppressed dostically and would soon vanish.

It was then that Shen Jiangli realized just how ruthless Pei Yansi’s tactics were, having reached a stage where he left no opportunities for others.

He looked deeply at Shen Heyu, knowing that if he were to disappear completely dostically, he still had options abroad. If it ca to that, he would definitely take her with him.

In any case, he would not give her any chance to stay by Pei Yansi’s side.

Even if he was dood, she would have to join him in his demise.

Shen Heyu only felt his gaze turning sinister, as if a viper was slowly creeping over her body, and she had no chance to resist.

Standing under the sunlight, she felt a chill throughout her body.

Pei Yansi noticed her discomfort; he glanced sideways, looking at her sowhat pale face and reached out to hold her hand, comforting her by gently stroking the palm of her hand.

Shen Heyu felt his presence and gradually stabilized her heart. When she looked at Shen Jiangli again, she found that he had already entered the restaurant with Han Manyin.

She breathed a sigh of relief, subtle but perceptible, yet the man beside her still noticed. Pei Yansi looked into her eyes and asked, “Are you afraid of him?”

“Not really, it’s just that his gaze just now was truly unsettling.”

Shen Heyu shook her head as she spoke, then turned to leave; their car was parked by the roadside.

Zhao Jin was waiting inside and said to Pei Yansi, who had just sat in the back seat, “Chen Family called a while ago.”

Pei Yansi frowned imperceptibly.

He knew Chen Lingng did it on purpose, but didn’t expect her to act so quickly.

“What did they say?”

“They want us to gather at the Chen Family tonight, should we go?” Zhao Jin asked knowingly.

Pei Yansi was bound to go.

This was a friendship that extended back to his grandfather’s generation. Back then, Grandpa Pei and Grandpa Chen were old colleagues; during a joint project, Grandpa Pei was covertly hard, and Grandpa Chen saved him.

Because he saved his life, Grandpa Chen ended up with a lifelong disability in his leg.

Thus, the Pei Family owed the Chen Family.

Additionally, since the two families had always been close, the relationship had continued to the present day. With the matter of the leg, Pei Yansi always lent a hand to the Chen Family in tis of need.

And vice versa.

However, in recent years, Pei Yansi’s thods had beco increasingly ruthless, thriving in dostic business circles and rising in status, and most of the ti, it was Pei Yansi who ca to the rescue of the Chen Family.

But human greed knows no bounds.

They still wanted Pei Yansi to take Chen Lingng, attempting to tightly bind the Pei Family and their longstanding friendship in this manner.

In fact, their friendship had already diminished considerably among Pei Yansi’s generation.

Pei Yansi lowered his head and thought for a while before saying, “Let’s go.”

Shen Heyu did not understand his detour with the Chen Family; she just wanted to return and had no interest in following Pei Yansi to the Chen Family, watching him play childhood sweetheart gas with Chen Lingng.

“Then drop off at the Pei Mansion first,” she said.

Zhao Jin, who had already started the car, heard this and did not move; he looked at Pei Yansi through the rearview mirror, waiting for his decision.

But Pei Yansi didn’t blink an eye or show any expression or gesture, and Zhao Jin understood what Pei Yansi was thinking; he drove off.

However, he did not head towards Pei Mansion but went directly to the Chen Family.

Shen Heyu saw that the route was not going back and hastily tapped Pei Yansi’s arm, “I said I wanted to go back.”

Pei Yansi looked indifferently at her hand clutching his arm. Her fingers were slender, pale, and weak, as delicate as if they were boneless.

Without any change in expression, he did not give an explicit answer; instead, he took her hand and held it tightly against his chest, saying, “If you keep fussing, I’ll throw you out.”

“I’m not going to the Chen Family. You et up with your little childhood sweetheart. What’s the point of going? It’d just get in the way. Besides, I don’t want to accompany you to this kind of event at all!”

Shen Heyu said sharply, really not wanting to go, which made her attitude much more assertive. Her aggressive deanor seed to Pei Yansi to rely resemble an adorably furious little animal, all fluffed up.

He snorted coldly, grabbed Shen Heyu’s hand, and pressed it hard against his thigh, threatening, “Or are you causing a scene on purpose because you want to be punished?”

Shen Heyu froze, motionless. She faintly felt the nacing change beneath her hand.

Her face turned bright red instantly, trying to pull her hand away, but Pei Yansi was no longer willing, forcibly holding her hand there and questioned, “Still making a fuss?”

Shen Heyu shook her head, truly not wanting to provoke this perpetually explosive beast.

This man really could…think about these ssy things anyti and anywhere.

“So are we still going to the Chen Family?” Pei Yansi asked with a smile, looking at her.

His attitude gave Shen Heyu the misperception that she had a chance to refuse. She was about to say no, but then she heard Pei Yansi say before her, “Then go back to Pei Mansion and wait for in bed.”

“…”

Shen Heyu looked at him as if he were a monster.

Pei Yansi raised an eyebrow, seemingly enjoying her gaze, asked cheerfully, “What? You don’t want to go ho or to the Chen Family, what do you want?”

“…”

“Heyu, you can’t be so unreasonable just because I’ve been indulging you lately, right? Choose between going back to the bed at ho or going to the Chen Family.”

Shen Heyu felt a chill, unable to refuse him anymore, so she reluctantly chose to go to the Chen Family.

The Chen Family lived in a villa area outside the suburb, far from the city area where they were. It took them two hours to reach the destination, arriving there just after five in the afternoon.

The winter sun was already setting, spreading red light across the distant mountains. From afar, the setting sun looked like blood.

As soon as Shen Heyu got out of the car, Pei Yansi tightly grabbed her hand. Their shadows elongated in the sunset and, to the onlooker, they seed quite sweet, like a couple stepping into the twilight of their lives.

Upon entering the Chen Family’s villa, an auntie ca to lead the way; she paused for a mont upon seeing their intimate appearance.

“What?” Pei Yansi asked, tilting his head.

The aunt quickly recovered, suppressed her curiosity, and said everything was fine before turning to lead them to the dining room.
