Seven Sins System Chapter 500. I'm Good At Dealing With Chaos

"So you and are gonna do it? Just the two of us?" I continued.

Puriel's eyes locked onto mine, unwavering. "Yes," she said firmly. "Who else?"

Before I could respond, Red, who had been standing quietly on the side, stepped forward. "My lord," she said, her voice calm but determined, " and my n can handle this. You don't need to intervene. You can trust ."

I humd softly, tilting my head as I considered her words. "Actually, I'm not worried about it," I said, nodding toward Red. "I trust you, Red. You've proven yourself ti and again."

But as the words left my mouth, sothing tugged at my mind. A creeping thought, one that had been lurking for a while. It was the ancient demon inside . My words trailed off, and I found myself falling into the silence of my own thoughts.

'Why are they looking for that power?' It didn't sit right with —the fact that this cult was searching for sothing so old, sothing tied to ancient chaos.

It was a ti bomb. If it really was as powerful as the whispers said, wouldn't that be a bigger problem? Yet, this cult seed determined to dig it up, to find and unlock whatever it was they believed lay dormant inside.

I couldn't tell Puriel and Red the full extent of it, though. The less anyone knew about the demon inside , the better. It was one of the few things I kept hidden, even from those closest to . Exposing that would complicate everything, and I didn't need complications right now.

Realizing I had let the silence stretch too long, I cleared my throat, refocusing on the room. "I also wonder what's really going on here," I continued, my voice softer, more thoughtful. "Sothing feels off, and I need to figure it out. Besides…" I added with a smirk, trying to bring the conversation back to a lighter place, "I've got to show my father I'm doing so actual work here. If I don't report sothing back, he'll assu I'm just having fun up here."

Puriel crossed her arms, her eyes narrowing. "You've never cared much about impressing your father before."

I let out a short laugh. "You're not wrong, but he has his way of making things difficult if I don't at least pretend I'm following orders. Plus, it wouldn't hurt to have so solid evidence to show him that this cult is a legitimate threat. If we let them grow unchecked, it's only a matter of ti before we have to deal with the fallout."

Red, still standing firm, chid in. "With all due respect, my lord, you shouldn't have to get involved directly. My network is extensive, and my n are capable. Let us handle the legwork while you focus on the bigger picture."

Her words made sense, and yet, sothing about this situation gnawed at . I trusted Red, but there was more at play here than just a cult. My instincts scread that there was a deeper connection to the ancient powers I carried within , and I couldn't just sit on the sidelines while that unfolded.

"Look," I said, standing up from my chair and eting both their gazes. "I know you're both capable. But this is more than just stopping a cult. Sothing's brewing, and I have to be involved. I can't shake the feeling that they're after ."

Red frowned slightly, but nodded. Puriel, on the other hand, looked at with a mixture of curiosity and suspicion. "You think this is about you?" she asked, her voice quieter now, more cautious.

I hesitated for a mont. I couldn't tell them everything. Not yet. But I could give them enough. "Call it a hunch," I said, forcing a smile. "I've been in this business long enough to know when sothing's personal. I'm the devil. I have a lot of fans."

Puriel wasn't satisfied with that answer, I could see it in her eyes. But she didn't push further. Instead, she nodded slowly. "Fine," she said. "But if you're right, if this is tied to you, then we need to approach this carefully. No reckless moves. We investigate, we gather information, and then we act."

"Agreed," I said, relieved that she wasn't pushing further on the subject.

Red stepped closer, her voice steady. "Then I'll continue my investigation. I'll bring more information as soon as I have it."

"Good," I replied, glancing between the two of them. "Let's see where this leads. And if it gets ssy…" I paused, smirking slightly. "Well, we all know I'm good at dealing with chaos."

Puriel rolled her eyes, though the corner of her lips twitched upward ever so slightly. Red bowed her head in a slight show of respect toward , though the tension in the air between her and Puriel was thick. Without saying another word, she turned on her heel and left the room, giving Puriel one final glare as she walked out. The door closed behind her with a soft click, leaving Puriel and alone.

I sighed, shaking my head. "You should act better around Red, Puriel."

Her gaze flicked to mine, sharp and defiant. "Why?" she shot back, her voice biting. "Because you've slept with her?"

I let out a small, dry laugh, but my tone shifted into sothing more serious. "No, because she's the one investigating all of this. She's doing it for , yes. But you get the advantages of it, too. You should treat her better."

Puriel's eyes narrowed slightly, but she didn't imdiately argue. "It's not who always gives the stink eye," she said after a pause, crossing her arms defensively. "She clearly has so problem with ."

I sighed again, leaning back in my chair and rubbing my temples. "She got that hatred from , Puriel. Don't bla her for it. We've been enemies for centuries. She's just loyal."
