Seven Sins System Chapter 499. Ancient Prophecy

I waved my hand dismissively. "Besides," I added with a smirk, "who's higher than us? My dad? Your mom?" My tone was relaxed, confident, like I was casually discussing the weather, not potential threats to the balance of the realms.

Puriel's face didn't soften at all. If anything, she seed more on edge, her gaze sharp and unyielding. "You don't understand the danger," she said, her voice low but intense. "There are creatures out there with power that surpasses even ours. Maybe they lack intelligence, but their raw strength… it's beyond us."

Her words were filled with heavy warning. I didn't flinch, keeping my confident posture, though her seriousness did make pause for a mont. 'Does she an the Ancient One inside ?' I thought, the idea curling around my mind. I considered asking her directly, but I wasn't ready to open that can of worms.

Instead, I leaned forward slightly, my eyes narrowing as I pressed her. "What do you an, Puriel?" I asked, my voice calm but curious. "Mind explaining?"

Puriel glanced at , her eyes flickering with sothing... hesitation, maybe. Then she shook her head, her lips pressing into a firm line. "No. There are things you're not ready to know," she replied, her voice colder than before.

I shrugged, leaning back in my chair with casual indifference. 'She's hiding sothing big,' I thought. But pushing her now would get nowhere. I glanced at Red, who had been watching the exchange silently, her arms crossed. She was always so composed, but I could see the flicker of intrigue in her eyes. "Red is investigating," I said, turning the conversation back to the matter at hand. "If you say we need to move quickly, then you're going to have to give a stronger reason for why we should act before we have all the information."

Puriel's eyes flashed with frustration, and she glared at . "You surely know how to negotiate," she said, her voice edged with sarcasm.

I smiled, unbothered by her tone. "I've had centuries to practice," I replied smoothly. "So, let's hear it. What's the real reason you're pushing us to act now? What aren't you telling us?"

There was a long silence as Puriel weighed her options. I could see the gears turning in her mind, deciding whether or not she should trust with whatever knowledge she was guarding so fiercely. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, she sighed, her shoulders relaxing just a fraction.

"There's an ancient prophecy," she began, her voice quieter now, almost reluctant. "A warning about a being that will be summoned in the end tis. Not a god, not a demon... sothing older. Sothing that predates even us."

I leaned forward slightly, resting my elbows on my knees, keeping my gaze fixed on Puriel. "Okay," I said, my voice steady but intrigued. "Go on."

Puriel's eyes flickered with sothing between uncertainty and conviction. It was rare to see her hesitate, but I could tell she was weighing how much she wanted to reveal. Still, she continued, her tone more somber than before. "This being… it's older than the gods, older than the realms themselves. It's pure chaos. A force that doesn't abide by any laws of nature, light, or darkness. It doesn't differentiate between good or evil, it simply is."

Red stood silently beside , her posture stiffening slightly as Puriel spoke. I could see the wheels turning in her mind, even though she didn't interrupt. She was piecing it together, just as I was.

Puriel took a deep breath and pressed on. "The ancient texts speak of it as a kind of… devourer. Not in the way we think of demons or monsters that consu souls. This being devours everything... realms, dinsions, and existence itself. It's said that once it's awakened, there's no stopping it. It will unmake reality as we know it."

I tilted my head, trying to process the gravity of what she was saying. "And you think this cult… the one Red's been investigating… is trying to summon that?"

Puriel nodded, her face tense. "Yes. That's why I'm pushing for quick action. If they succeed in summoning even a fragnt of its power, it could destabilize everything. The Shadow Realm, the Light Realm, the mortal realm—none of it would matter. Everything would be consud."

'Damn… I have that kind of power inside of ? That's a huge problem,' I thought. '

Red shifted beside . "So you're saying we're dealing with sothing that can destroy not just us, but the very fabric of existence?"

"Exactly," Puriel said, her tone urgent now. "This isn't just a battle between realms. It's bigger than us. If we don't stop this cult, if we allow them to continue their rituals unchecked, we could be looking at the end of everything."

"So, what your suggestions?" I asked, my voice calm but calculated, though the hint of amusent wasn't far behind. "You want us to act quickly, but we don't even have all the pieces of the puzzle. Red's investigation is still ongoing. I an… it could be wrong. If you want to destroy them without any thought or too much investigation, count in. I love chaos and destruction."

"I never said we need to destroy them right away," Puriel said through gritted teeth. "That's not what I'm asking for. We need to investigate them personally. We can't just sit back and wait for more reports to trickle in. By the ti we know everything, they might already have succeeded."

I could see the conflict brewing inside her. Puriel was always one to push for swift action, but she also hated being impulsive. That was my domain. She knew full well the consequences of rushing in without a solid plan... yet, the threat of this ancient being clearly had her rattled.

I leaned back in my chair, watching her closely. "Investigate them personally, huh?" I said, my tone was still light.
