Seven Sins System Chapter 486. His Glorified Errand Boy

I let out a long, exasperated sigh. “What do you an ‘after all the work’? That’s literally your work, your duty,” I replied, annoyance creeping into my voice. I could already feel the familiar headache building. This was classic Dad, always looking for a way to dump his responsibilities onto .

“Of course, of course,” he said in that casual, dismissive tone of his. “But you know how it is, Azrael. You’re more than capable. Besides, you’re next in line to the throne. It’s good practice to run the Shadow Realm.”

I rolled my eyes, even though he couldn’t see . Practice, he called it. Right. What he really ant was slaving with double the job—acting as both king and prince while he went off doing who-knows-what with his legion of eager succubi. No wonder I had started to embrace my title as the Lord of Wrath. I wasn’t always this bitter, but after centuries of being his glorified errand boy, it was hard not to be.

“Dad, I can’t co back right now. I had a run-in with so demons just yesterday,” I announced.

There was a pause on the other end. “Demons?” My father’s tone shifted slightly, but I could still hear the skepticism underneath. “In the mortal realm?”

“Yeah,” I replied, biting back my frustration. “I encountered them yesterday morning. They were looking for .”

“They were looking for you?” he repeated, now sounding genuinely confused. “Why would they be after you? You have taken care of the cult, right? The mortal realm is supposed to be quiet, nothing but mortals and their dull, boring lives.”

I groaned inwardly. “That’s what I thought too, but these demons weren’t just wandering around aimlessly. They were specifically looking for . They even ntioned a master.”

“A master?” Now, that caught his attention. The casual, laid-back tone was gone, replaced by sothing colder, more focused. I could practically hear the gears turning in his head. The moaning that had been a background noise abruptly stopped, and I could imagine him freezing ti in his office, leaving that succubus, or whoever it was, stuck in whatever position she had been in. My father was many things, but when it ca to this, he never took them lightly.

“What do you an?” he asked, his voice sharp. “Explain.”

I took a deep breath. “They said they were looking for my power. I guess they were referring to the ancient demon’s power within , but they weren’t just run-of-the-mill demons. They were stronger, more organized. And they ntioned they were acting on behalf of soone, this master they kept referring to.”

“You’re sure of this?” he asked, his tone deadly serious now. The shift in his deanor was palpable.

“I wouldn’t lie about this,” I replied, my voice firm. “I have proof if you want it. They didn’t just attack randomly... they knew exactly who I was.”

There was a heavy silence on the other end, and I could almost feel my father processing the information. Finally, he spoke, his voice low and serious. "Does Puriel know about this too?"

“Yeah,” I replied, rubbing my temple. “She was with when those demons attacked. She saw the whole thing.”

“And did they attack her too?”

“No,” I said, frowning as I recalled the scene. “Their target was . They didn’t seem to care about her at all, which is… weird. You’d think they’d at least try to engage her, but they ignored her completely. Can you believe it? Those demons are more interested in than a goddess,” I said ironically. “I’m not sure if I’m supposed to be happy or not,” I scoffed.

“That is strange.” My father’s tone was thoughtful now, the lightheartedness of our earlier conversation gone. This was the side of him that ruled the Shadow Realm, the one who had faced countless battles, cunning enemies, and threats from the farthest reaches of existence. When he got serious, I knew sothing was wrong.

“I don’t get it either,” I admitted as I went to the kitchen, leaning against the counter as the remnants of the cheesy stick sat untouched. “I’m still trying to investigate, but I don’t know where to start. There’s sothing going on here, sothing bigger than just a random demon attack.”

“What’s your plan?” he asked, cutting straight to the point. That was my father—when it ca to danger or uncertainty, he didn’t waste ti with pleasantries.

I sighed, running a hand through my hair. “Honestly? I don’t have a solid clue. My best bet right now is to follow Puriel and investigate where these white crystals are coming from. Maybe they have sothing to do with the demons. There’s a chance these two events are connected.”

I could practically hear my father cringing on the other end, and I couldn’t help but roll my eyes. “Hasn’t she found the source yet?” he asked, his voice laced with disappointnt, as if he had expected more from a goddess.

“Nope,” I replied, unable to hide the proud grin creeping onto my face. “I’m faster than her. You should be happy to have such a capable son.”

There was a pause, and then my father sighed. “Uh, I’m not sure if it’s because you’re a genius or if Puriel is just too slow.”

My grin faded instantly, and I scowled. “Where’s my praise?” I grumbled, feeling the annoyance. Typical. Even when I outperford soone as powerful as Puriel, all I got was a backhanded complint.

“Azrael,” my father said, a hint of amusent creeping into his voice, “you’re doing well, but let’s not pretend you’re so kind of divine miracle devil. This is just the beginning. You’ve dealt with demons before. They’re tricky, but you know how to handle them. The fact that these ones are organized, though? That’s what has concerned.”

I couldn’t deny that. It wasn’t the demons themselves that had thrown off; it was their precision, their clear intent to find .
