Seven Sins System Chapter 485. A Call And Moans
I heard them grumble as they fell behind, whispering among themselves. I caught snippets of nas being thrown around... Aria and Julia. It didn’t matter. Let them speculate. I wasn’t going to get involved in their little gossip session. They’d have their fun chasing wild ideas, but I had other things on my mind.
I picked up the pace. My gaze quickly caught sothing or rather, soone else. Puriel. She was doing her usual stretching routine. Normally, she would have made her way over to by now. She was nothing if not persistent. But today, she didn’t.
We exchanged glances briefly, and instead of her usual determined gaze as if she found her target, she quickly turned her head the other way. And if my eyes weren’t playing tricks on , I could’ve sworn I saw a faint blush on her face.
That made pause. Puriel, blushing? She was a goddess, not so shy schoolgirl. What could possibly have made her blush? The necklace I gave her yesterday, maybe? Or was it sothing else? The bandage roll? She had been convinced I didn’t get it, even though I did. Maybe that embarrassnt was catching up with her now. Or maybe ? This handso devil who had stolen her heart? Either way, it was intriguing.
I felt a smirk pulling at my lips as I considered my options. Normally, I wouldn’t bother getting involved in whatever strange mood Puriel was in, but today I was in a good mood. My teasing habits kicked in. And I had to admit, watching her squirm could be… entertaining.
Without much thought, I changed direction and jogged toward her, letting my curiosity and mischief guide . The closer I got, the more obvious her discomfort beca. She noticed approaching, and instead of standing her ground, like she usually would, she imdiately turned the other way, pretending not to see .
I cringed inwardly. “What are you? A schoolgirl in love?” I muttered under my breath, shaking my head. It was ridiculous to see soone like Puriel acting like this, especially considering she was a goddess who had lived for hundreds of years. That kind of behavior seed… beneath her. But then again, love did strange things to people—even goddesses, apparently.
Not that she’d ever fully admit it, of course. But I knew. It wasn’t like she could hide it from , not with the way she acted sotis. And now, with her practically running away at the sight of ? Yeah, the signs were all there.
Still, I decided not to push too hard. I was in a teasing mood, sure, but I wasn’t cruel.
‘Ugh… that sounds so wrong,’ I thought.
Okay, correction.
I was usually a cruel devil, but at least not today.
I shrugged to myself and continued my jog, letting her be for now. Like it or not, she would co to eventually. After all, we were partners in this mission. No matter how much she avoided or tried to downplay it, we had work to do, and that would force her to face sooner or later.
Once I got back to my room, the first thing I noticed was that Red was gone. The second thing was that she had left so food. I wasn’t exactly sure what it was, but it sat neatly on the kitchen counter. It looked like short sticks of so sort, maybe made of bread. They had a strange golden-brown hue, not quite like toast, and were covered with lted cheese and bits of green, red, and yellow—probably vegetables. I sniffed the air, recognizing only the distinct scent of cheese. I had no idea what this dish was, but as far as I was concerned, mortal food was always foreign to my tongue. As long as it was edible, I didn’t care.
I grabbed one of the sticks, still eyeing the rest suspiciously. The front of the stick was crispy, and the lted cheese clung to my fingers as I bit into it. To my surprise, it wasn’t bad. The textures were actually pleasant, the crunch mixing well with the soft cheese. It was leagues better than the dish Julia had cooked for last night. At least this had so kind of texture, sothing I could enjoy, even if it was still foreign to . I felt like eating severed fingers though the texture and taste were different.
I popped another stick into my mouth and chewed thoughtfully. As I considered bringing the rest of the sticks to the infirmary with for later, my phone rang from the drawer. I paused, mid-bite, frowning. A sudden sense of unease hit , like I had forgotten sothing important.
And then it clicked.
My dad!
I hadn’t called him yet to tell him that I’d need to extend my stay in the mortal realm. The demons appeared again despite I had wiped out the cult. My mission was far from over.
Scrambling, I hurried to the drawer and snatched up my phone, stuffing the last bit of cheese stick into my mouth before answering.
“Hey, Dad,” I greeted him casually, hoping to ease into the conversation. I could already picture his gruff tone, probably filled with questions about when I’d return to our realm.
But what greeted on the other end wasn’t his voice.
“Oh, Your Majesty~ You are so strong. Give it to harder~!”
I froze, my mouth still full, and blinked as the woman’s moaning voice echoed through the phone. My brain took a second to process what I was hearing.
My panic and rush to explain myself vanished, replaced by a flat expression of pure irritation. “Seriously?” I deadpanned, leaning against the desk as I waited for the noise to die down. “Why did you call if you’re still in the middle of fucking?” I complained, no longer surprised by my father’s complete lack of discretion.
There was a brief pause on the other end, followed by the unmistakable sound of shuffling and a grunt. A deep, booming voice that could only belong to my father finally responded, sounding completely unbothered by the situation. “Azrael, my boy! How are things in the mortal realm? Everything under control? When will you co back here? I need a long vacation after all the work.”
