Seven Sins System Chapter 373. Bla It On The Devil
"Ugh! This stupid doctor is very heavy!" A kidnapper complained, shooting a glare.
His buddy, however, wasn't having it. With a chuckle, he retorted, "Stop babbling, you lost the bet earlier so that's your punishnt. Besides, it's not like you've been hitting the gym lately."
I bit back a laugh, finding their banter oddly entertaining despite our dire situation. But before the conversation could continue, another kidnapper intervened, his voice dripping with urgency.
"Let's go! We have to report this to the great leader!"
With that, they began to make their exit. But as the one carrying moved to leave, I seized the opportunity to take matters into my own hands.
With a swift movent, I grabbed his ankle, causing him to nearly jump out of his skin in surprise. And then, before he could even utter a sound, I unleashed my skill.
'Hypnosis.'
The hypnotic trance washed over him. His once animated expression lted into one of blankness, his gaze empty and unfocused. It was almost too easy.
With a sense of satisfaction, I summoned one of my mosquito-shaped tentacles, guiding it toward his ear.
'Envy!'
My tiny tentacles slithered into the kidnapper's ear canal and a rush of information flooded into my mind. It was like tapping into a hidden network, with data streaming in at lightning speed, revealing secrets about the cult and its elusive leader.
But as I sifted through the information, disappointnt washed over . These guys were just small fries, re pawns in the grand sche of things. I could sense the presence of the cult's leader, but his true form remained shrouded in mystery. It was frustrating, to say the least, knowing that I was only scratching the surface.
And as for the kidnappers themselves, they were nothing more than low-level recruiters, tasked with seeking out individuals who possessed certain desirable traits or resources. Unlike traditional religious sects, they didn't bother with sermons or invitations. Instead, they operated more like common criminals, targeting specific individuals who could be of use to them.
These targets were chosen for their wealth, fa, power, or unique skills. In my case, it was my sudden rise to fa and exceptional combat doctor abilities that had caught their attention. But beyond that, the cult's mbership and organizational structure remained shrouded in secrecy. Divisions and group leaders managed the day-to-day operations, but the higher echelons of the organization remained elusive, their motives and objectives known only to a select few.
As the hypnotized kidnapper stood frozen, his friend's voice cut through. "Hey, what are you doing? Is there sothing wrong with that doctor?" he asked, his eyes narrowing as he studied his comrade's perplexed expression.
In a split-second decision, I transford one of my tentacles into a tiny flea and deftly darted into his hair. With a ntal command, I canceled the hypnosis, allowing the kidnapper to snap out of his trance and regain his senses.
He blinked several tis, shaking off the remnants of the hypnotic influence. A perplexed frown creased his forehead. "Nothing," he muttered vaguely, clearly unsettled by the strange turn of events. Without another word, he rose to his feet and hastily retreated.
The kidnappers departed, leaving us alone in the suffocating darkness. The only source of light ca from a solitary red dot from a CCTV affixed to the ceiling. The room itself was shrouded in gloom, with no natural light filtering in from the outside world. The only ventilation shaft faced inward, offering little relief from the stifling atmosphere. It was a suffocating prison, with no escape in sight.
With a heavy sigh, I opened my eyes and cast a weary glance around the dimly lit room. The hunger pangs gnawing at my stomach served as a relentless reminder of the al I had been abruptly torn away from.
"I'm hungry..." I muttered under my breath. Seriously, why did they have to go and kidnap right when I was about to grab my dinner? It was like adding insult to injury.
But despite the dire circumstances, my stomach refused to be ignored, growling in protest as if to demand attention.
I scanned the room for any signs of movent. And then, just as I was lost in my thoughts of food and freedom, Puriel's voice pierced through the silence, drawing my attention.
"Even at tis like this, what you think about is food," she remarked dryly from the other side of the room, her tone laced with a hint of amusent.
I couldn't help but crack a wry smile at her observation, realizing that even in the midst of captivity, so things never changed. After all, a devil's appetite knew no bounds. I shifted slightly, my gaze flickering over to Puriel as she lay beside . Her eyes were open, taking in our bleak surroundings with a sense of wary alertness. But what caught my attention wasn't her watchful deanor—it was the object lying nearby, just out of arm's reach.
"I don't see anything wrong with that," I replied, echoing her calm tone. "I just hope for a good al before they kidnap us," I added, my voice tinged with frustration.
With a resigned sigh, I let out a long exhale, the tension in my muscles slowly dissipating. "But in the worst case, I might eat the dry corpse beside you," I quipped casually.
The reaction was imdiate. Puriel gasped in shock, her body tensing as she recoiled from the unexpected remark. With a swift movent, she turned onto her side and scrambled away from the offending object.
