At this mont, Li Changhe was completely unaware of the events transpiring above ground.
He and his three teammates were currently dashing wildly down the corridor in the underground space beneath the ruins.
As for the cause of all this...
Ten minutes ago, Li Changhe had attacked a massive rock with Abyssal Stomping, which had an added effect against the ground and inanimate vehicles, proceeding very smoothly.
It didn’t cause any secondary collapses, nor did it inflict additional damage to the ruins. The huge stone was shattered with a single kick.
The precise control of his strength made Wuji and Big Iron Pestle nod in silent approval, while Xia Yun praised him, saying it was indeed worthy of a General.
As a matter of fact, as players from Great Tang, they viewed Li Changhe through a hero’s lens. It seed there was nothing he couldn’t do.
Then, the four of them filed into the underground space of the ruins, each using their own thods for protection. After all, they didn’t know what was waiting for them inside the tunnel.
Li Changhe and Xia Yun ingested oxygen capsules, Wuji put a pipe in his mouth, and Big Iron Pestle seed to prepare nothing at all, but a corner of his tattered cloak extended to cover his nose and mouth, clearly possessing so sort of oxygen-generating ability as well.
After entering the underground space, the four imdiately adopted a vigilant state.
With Li Changhe releasing an Illumination Scroll, the darkness of the corridor was dispelled. What ca into view was an underground passageway, so deep it was impossible to see the end.
Well-preserved murals could be seen on the walls twice over. However, possibly due to significant cultural differences, Li Changhe wasn’t quite clear on the aning of those exquisite murals.
"Hmm... It seems that the civilizations of this world were not solely dominated by humans," the copper sword chid, "These murals docunt the glory of a Different Race’s civilization. At least before the advent of human Civilization, there was a powerful Different Race that ruled this world."
"To think the Xuanyuan Sword... even understands foreign languages?" Li Changhe couldn’t help but make a quip, since those murals looked no different than subconscious doodles to him. It was a relief it could understand them.
"No, this is intended for the divine creatures to view, left behind in the void through special thods. Even without cultural compatibility, Divine Existence can perceive certain things in the void. Though ages have passed and the traces are now indistinct, at the very least, fragnts can be discerned."
"That ans... those murals in the archaeology segnts can also be interpreted by us divine creatures?" Li Changhe inquired. This was indeed the first ti he had heard of it. It seed they could delve into more archaeology in the future, perhaps to hear so ancient gossip?
"It seems the General is not a good teacher, never having explained even this to you. Then again, his mind isn’t the sharpest. How about abandoning the darkness for the light and becoming my disciple?" suggested the copper sword.
"Holy shit, isn’t this a kind of NTR?" Wuji snickered. He was well aware of his comrade’s, who was both a ntor and a friend, temperant.
Li Changhe also noticed that the Xuanyuan Sword would take any chance to badmouth the old ancestor, always with a sardonic air.
Indeed, after many years of grudges, it would be extrely satisfying for the Xuanyuan Sword to lure away an Extraordinary Soldier.
The copper sword then continued, "You and Wuji should be able to understand it. The unlucky one is still lacking, and Miss Xia Yun can’t do it, as she hasn’t grasped Divinity yet."
"Hold on, Sword Brother. Are you referring to as the unlucky one?" Big Iron Pestle complained, "Don’t call unlucky, what if your status as a Divine Artifact turns it into reality?"
"As if I should go against my conscience and call you a lucky fellow," the players grumbled internally.
Li Changhe then studied the murals for a while, and it seed as if they began to ’move’. A grotesque and bloated humanoid creature was depicted sitting on a throne, and below the throne, many similar beings were raising their hands, seemingly offering sothing... it appeared to be a limb from a giant dragon, as Li Changhe could see claws and wings.
Regrettably, that was all he could discern.
No matter how splendid that Civilization was, in the end, it amounted to dust and echoes.
"However, why leave murals here?" Li Changhe questioned aloud, "And even inscribe them in the void, just to showcase their glory to future divine creatures? Isn’t putting them underground a bit topsy-turvy?"
"And why would that human ruler send a gargoyle to guard such a place?" Xia Yun asked, "To him, that’s just history from a previous dynasty, isn’t it?"
"Anyway, the so-called secret doesn’t refer to this," Wuji evidently had spent so ti examining the mural and, after gleaning so information, said, "We have to explore deeper."
With that, he stepped forward, his footfalls echoing distantly as he walked.
Li Changhe listened attentively for a mont but heard no echo of his footsteps. Shaking his head, he said, "We haven’t found the bottom yet. Anyway, let’s move on."
However, Li Changhe and the others had still underestimated Big Iron Pestle’s luck. If they had a choice, they probably would have imdiately given up on exploring the ruins and deeply regretted this excursion!
For, as Big Iron Pestle was observing the murals, he had subconsciously moved closer to the wall.
The mont he stepped on a certain tile, there was a slight give under his foot.
As an old unfortunate soul, Big Iron Pestle was among the best at risk avoidance among the players.
Being able to fight or not is one issue, but whether you can survive is another matter altogether.
The mont he felt the floor give way, he violently exerted strength and twisted his body, moving sideways in a flash with a burst of power that most people would find incomprehensible. This was an instinct honed through countless unfortunate experiences. After all, he had encountered traps before.
Then, this ti, as he quickly moved to the side and landed, he felt the stone tiles under his feet loosen once again.
"This..." Big Iron Pestle looked at the others with a worried expression. He had already sensed that sothing was rapidly approaching from a distance. Clearly, he had triggered sothing.
Xia Yun still wasn’t very familiar with Big Iron Pestle and found his actions a bit strange.
She thought he was just being overly nervous, as loose stone tiles were a common occurrence in ancient ruins like these.
It was just a tile coming loose underfoot, so why make a big deal out of it?
But Li Changhe and Wuji’s expressions changed drastically.
Li Changhe was Big Iron Pestle’s good friend and had also beco friends with Little Drill Wind after the containnt war.
In their normal communications, he had learned quite a bit about Big Iron Pestle’s ’exploits’.
Wuji, on the other hand, simply knew just how ’terrifying’ Big Iron Pestle could be.
So, when Big Iron Pestle started to make strange movents, the two almost shouted in unison, "Run!"
And they imdiately took off running!
As Li Changhe ran past Xia Yun, he reached out to grab her, who still didn’t know what was happening, and pulled her along for several steps.
This mont sent Xia Yun’s heart racing, her cheeks flushing with excitent.
But soon, Xia Yun’s face turned deathly pale.
For as she looked back, she saw a huge siege tower with blades rolling out from behind the stone wall, hurtling towards her at breakneck speed.
The swiftly rolling blades atop it were enough to make Xia Yun, a player herself, sense the danger.
At the sa ti, the surrounding walls bristled with dense holes from which sharp cold gleams flickered...
In that instant, a question flashed through Xia Yun’s mind.
Just how many traps had Big Iron Pestle triggered at once?
