Secretly Married for 4 Years, He Regrets to Tears After the Divorce Chapter 173: Plane Crash
Wren Sutton’s voice was laced with anxiety. Her intuition told her sothing might have really happened to Adrian Lancaster.
Otherwise, why would she have had such a strange dream out of nowhere?
It must be fate, a sign from the heavens trying to warn her.
"Kevin, say sothing! What on earth happened to Adrian Lancaster?"
Kevin Dawson looked at the unconscious Adrian Lancaster on the hospital bed, a heavy feeling in his heart.
President Lancaster usually wore a cold expression, rarely smiled, and wasn’t one for pleasantries. But he was, without a doubt, a good boss—fair in his rewards and punishnts, a man of vision, guts, and ability.
Working under President Lancaster, he could learn things money couldn’t buy.
"President Lancaster has been poisoned."
Wren Sutton was so shocked she could hardly believe it. It felt as if sothing had viciously squeezed her heart.
’Poisoned?!’
’Who would be so audacious as to poison Adrian Lancaster?’
"What kind of poison? Is it serious?"
"Strychnine."
"..."
Wren Sutton was so horrified she forgot to control her expression.
Although she had no dical training, she had heard of strychnine before. It was both a dicine and a poison—highly toxic, capable of curing and killing.
"They’re trying to save him at the hospital right now."
"Have you found out who poisoned him?"
"We have. The police have already taken them into custody. It was a family mber of one of the victims from the explosion."
Wren Sutton gripped her phone, her expression grave.
Kevin Dawson explained, "President Lancaster went to their ho to offer his condolences. The man’s wife handed him a cup of tea, and he drank it without a second thought. He never expected it to be poisoned."
"On the way to the hospital, President Lancaster repeatedly warned not to tell you. He was afraid you’d worry and get upset, which might affect tomorrow’s court hearing."
A heavy lump ford in Wren Sutton’s throat, and she closed her eyes in distress.
"Thank you for your hard work, Kevin. Take good care of him, and let know imdiately if anything changes."
"I really can’t get away with the hearing tomorrow."
Kevin Dawson readily agreed. "Don’t worry, Ma’am. I’ll stay at the hospital the entire ti."
Wren Sutton couldn’t sleep for the rest of the night. Every ti she closed her eyes, Adrian Lancaster’s face would appear in her mind.
’I wonder if they’ve neutralized the poison... I wonder if he’s woken up yet.’
...
After a full night of ergency treatnt, Adrian Lancaster was moved from the operating room to a ward.
Just before dawn, he struggled to open his eyes. He was out of danger.
"President Lancaster, you’re finally awake." Kevin Dawson, who had barely slept a wink, had not left his side.
"What ti is it?" Adrian Lancaster asked, his voice hoarse.
Kevin Dawson glanced at his watch. "Five-thirty."
Adrian Lancaster said, "Book a flight back imdiately. I promised Wren Sutton I would be back for the day of the hearing."
Kevin Dawson protested, "President Lancaster, you just woke up. Your body hasn’t fully recovered. The doctor will never agree to you being discharged."
"Who needs his approval?" Adrian Lancaster’s tone was arrogant and dismissive. "I know my own body."
"But, President Lancaster..."
Adrian Lancaster’s gaze turned cold. "Kevin Dawson, are you daring to question my decision?"
Kevin Dawson’s heart pounded. He quickly tried to explain, "President Lancaster, that’s not what I ant."
"Then cut the crap and book the ticket now."
Adrian Lancaster gave the order forcefully.
He didn’t care about his own condition. All he could think about was the court hearing today.
He had promised Wren Sutton he would be back, and he couldn’t go back on his word.
Kevin Dawson knew President Lancaster’s temper. His word was law. If he continued to stand in his way, it wouldn’t end well for him.
"Understood. I’ll book it right away."
Adrian Lancaster’s expression softened slightly. "Book a ticket for just . You stay here and handle the follow-up matters on behalf of the company."
"Yes, President Lancaster."
Soon, Kevin Dawson had booked the ticket—first class—and then personally drove Adrian Lancaster to the airport.
Before the plane took off, Adrian Lancaster sent a ssage to Wren Sutton. He waited for a long ti, but there was no reply.
His thin lips pressed into a tight line, a dark glint flashing in the depths of his eyes. He put away his phone, stood up, and walked toward the boarding gate.
The flight departed on ti.
Half an hour later, the plane suddenly began to shake violently. The cabin gradually lost pressure, and the oxygen levels dropped.
The passengers realized the danger—it was a prelude to a crash. Screams and sobs filled the air, eventually fading into silence...
