Chapter 97: Chapter 97: The Legacy of Hawkins Family

After everything was settled, Carolline Ruiz followed Bryan Hawkins back to the Hawkins family ho. Grandma Hawkins smiled happily as the two entered. However, William Hawkins and Calia Hawkins eyed Carolline, making her feel a little embarrassed.

“Carolline! You look so beautiful today!” Calia said enthusiastically.

“Thank you, Calia.” Carolline replied with a smile. Calia continued, “Big Brother, Grandpa and Grandma have been waiting for you both for a long ti. Let’s go to them.”

“Let’s go.” Bryan called Carolline, and she followed him naively.

When they went to congratulate Grandpa Hawkins on his birthday, Carolline didn’t notice anything unusual about the way they were celebrating. Grandma Hawkins saw everything and was overjoyed.

Even Sophia Lawson said nothing. Austin Hawkins naturally allowed his mother to make arrangents, as he thought his eldest son was a perfect match for Carolline, the most beautiful and kind-hearted woman in the world.

Since Carolline was invited, Grandma Hawkins didn’t invite anyone else for fear of making her feel uncomfortable. She also refused the offers of her second and third youngest sons to co over, only accepting their gifts.

So, the gathering today consisted only of Carolline and Bryan’s direct family mbers. Carolline didn’t feel much pressure, but the situation seed strange to her.

She believed that at least all the mbers of the Hawkins family should be present, and perhaps not inviting outsiders would suffice. Nevertheless, having fewer people around made her feel more relaxed.

After dinner, Grandma Hawkins took Carolline to her room. The old lady smiled at Carolline, which almost gave her goosebumps.

“Did my eldest son pick you up today?” Grandma Hawkins asked with a satisfied smile. She had sent a driver to pick up Carolline, but he returned alone claiming it was the young master’s idea.

At that ti, Grandma Hawkins had thought of countless possibilities. Later, seeing the two entering together and observing their interactions, she felt that their relationship had changed compared to before. However, she couldn’t be too sure.

Embarrassed, Carolline didn’t ntion that Bryan had waited for her downstairs. “Yes, I bumped into Bryan on my way here.”

“Well, it’s fate that brought you two together.” Grandma Hawkins replied cheerfully, knowing Carolline was lying but not exposing her.

Grannda Hawkins thought she understood Carolline well from their previous interactions. When Carolline lied, her earlobes would turn red – a trait Grandma Hawkins found adorable.

Grandma Hawkins then stood up, walked to her old-fashioned wardrobe, opened the bottom drawer, and took out an antique sandalwood box. Inside was a small box made of red silk.

Grandma Hawkins took the small case and handed it to Carolline. “Here, Carolline, this is a gift from Grandpa and Grandma.”

Inside the box was a jade bracelet. It was not very valuable but carried great sentintal value as part of the Hawkins family inheritance. It represented acceptance and had once been passed down from Grandma Hawkins’ mother-in-law to her.

She later established several heirlooms for her daughters and daughters-in-law as tokens of her acceptance. This jade bracelet was one of them, and it held a special place in her heart.

When Carolline appeared, Grandma Hawkins felt that she was the rightful heir to the bracelet, even more suited than Sophia Lawson.

Of course, Sophia would never know about this gift. It was indeed not very valuable, but Grandma Hawkins knew that Carolline would treasure it just as much as she did.

Carolline was hesitant to accept the gift, not knowing what was inside the box but assuming it was precious since it was stored in such a hidden place.

“I can’t accept it, Grandma Hawkins. I’m already grateful for your hospitality, and I can’t take anything more from you.” Carolline felt guilty and restless taking sothing that the old lady cherished so much.

“You haven’t even looked inside, so how do you know it’s valuable? It’s just an ordinary bracelet worth a few thousand dollars, not a treasure at all,” Grandma Hawkins reassured her. Although the jade bracelet was an authentic antique and possessed worth beyond price, it couldn’t compare to the modern expensive jewelry.

Its significance was known only to those who understood its origins. Grandma Hawkins chose not to tell Carolline its true aning, waiting for her to accept the gift first.

“An ordinary bracelet?” Carolline didn’t quite believe it. But if it were an ordinary bracelet, why would it be stored in such a hidden place?

“Yes, would I lie to you? Accept it. If you refuse, your Grandpa and I will both be upset.” Grandma Hawkins brought up the birthday party, and Carolline reluctantly agreed.

When she opened the box and saw that the jade bracelet couldn’t compare to the one Bryan had given her, she believed Grandma Hawkins. “Thank you, I’ll treasure it.”

“I know you will,” Grandma Hawkins replied, overjoyed that Carolline accepted the gift. Now she looked forward to seeing Carolline’s reaction once she understood the true aning behind the jade bracelet.

Carolline remained oblivious. Due to her job, she couldn’t wear jewelry, so she decided to store the bracelet alongside the one from Bryan when she returned ho.
