Chapter 96: Chapter 96: Preparing Gifts
As the Spring Festival approached, it was another weekend, and Carolline was on her day off. Grandma Hawkins, who seed to have heard so news, called Carolline, asking her to co ho and keep her company, even sending a driver to pick her up.
Carolline couldn’t refuse, so she agreed.
She got ready at ho and was about to leave when Henry ca back from outside.
“Going out?” Carolline loved to see her father wearing a white coat. He seed extraordinarily handso whenever he wore it.
“Yeah.” Carolline nodded, put on a small backpack, and naturally wrapped her arms around Henry’s arm, “I caught you! Our Dr. Ruiz is actually coming ho during work hours.”
“Get out of here, where are you going?” Henry rarely cared about Carolline’s whereabouts.
“Grandma Hawkins wants
to go to their house.” Carolline didn’t hide it, “I won’t be back for lunch. I’ll probably co back after eating there.”
“Are you sure that’s the only reason she asked you to co, and you’ll be back after lunch?” Henry asked with a smile. Carolline felt a little shy, but Henry didn’t stop, “By the way, how are things with Bryan? Have you let him know about your feelings after liking him for so long?”
“Dad——” Carolline whined. She hadn’t really given her feelings for Bryan much thought before, but he should know, right?
So, was there no need to say it explicitly? Otherwise, she would seem silly.
“Alright, alright, I won’t tease you anymore. However I must tell you, if you really like soone, let them know sooner rather than later. Otherwise, if soone else gets the upper hand, you’ll be the one crying.”
Having said that, Henry returned to their room to fetch what he needed.
Carolline was sowhat shaken by her father’s words, and started to contemplate her future with Bryan. Ever since they got married, she had expected that as soon as he finished his work, their marriage would beco public.
Once it was public, her concerns should be alleviated, right?
Carolline took the keys, bade Henry farewell, and left ho.
Bryan’s car was parked across the street from the hospital gate. As soon as Carolline walked to the entrance, she recognized Bryan’s car. At first, she was a little surprised.
Didn’t Grandma Hawkins say she was sending a driver to pick her up? Why did Bryan co himself?
Carolline walked across the street, got into the passenger seat, and saw that Bryan was on the phone, “Mr. Wu, let’s leave it at that for now. Thank you very much. I’ll visit you to invite you for dinner. Please honor
with your presence.”
Carolline couldn’t hear what the person on the phone said. It wasn’t long before she heard Bryan continue, “Alright then, let’s end it here for today. We’ll get in touch next ti. Goodbye.”
Bryan hung up and turned his head. He looked Carolline up and down. Most of the clothes he had prepared for her in the villa were casual, but she wasn’t wearing any of those.
“Don’t you like the clothes I prepared for you?” When ordering those clothes, he hadn’t considered Carolline’s preferences, only asking the designer to create them based on the latest designs from the brands he usually accepted.
“No, it’s just that I couldn’t wear them to work. And I don’t have many days off.” It wouldn’t be feasible to run back to the villa every ti she had a day off to choose clothes to wear.
As a matter of fact, the last ti she had worn clothes from the villa, Emily had beco suspicious. Carolline didn’t understand brands, but Emily did, so she recognized the brand of Carolline’s clothes. They were either limited edition or sothing special, but either way, Emily had a lot to say about them. Carolline had been too scared to wear the clothes again.
“What kind of lousy excuse is that?” Bryan frowned, “You could bring a few outfits ho with you and wear them when you can. Do you want the clothes in the wardrobe to grow mold because you don’t wear them?”
“…” Carolline had no choice but to keep quiet, silently staring out the window, waiting for Bryan to start the car.
“We’re going back first to change your clothes.” Bryan made the decision and started the car.
It wasn’t that he despised Carolline’s taste in clothes; in fact, everything she wore looked good to him. The main issue was that as a man, it was frustrating to see her not wear the clothes he bought for her.
“Is there sothing happening at ho today?” Carolline was sensitive, noticing the importance of changing clothes this ti. Perhaps it was an elder’s birthday. Her instincts were usually quite accurate.
“Yeah, Grandpa’s birthday is today. It’s just our family.” Bryan didn’t hide it. He knew Carolline was timid, so this year, Grandma Hawkins hadn’t invited any outsiders. In fact, they had refused many people who had co to visit and give gifts the week before.
“Why didn’t you tell
earlier? I didn’t prepare a gift.” Carolline gave Bryan an annoyed glance. She was anxious and still had to go back to change her clothes. How was she supposed to find ti to prepare a gift?
“…For them, the fact that you’ll be there is the best gift.” Bryan smiled. He didn’t know why Grandma Hawkins liked Carolline so much.
At that ti, when he first brought Matilda ho, his parents’ attitude was relatively normal, but his grandmother’s attitude towards Carolline was different. Only now did he understand the saying, “the older the ginger, the spicier it gets.”
Back then, Matilda seed quite innocent to him with her beautiful, clear eyes. However, in just a short ti, she had turned into a completely different person.
“…” Carolline hesitated for a mont, then shyly said, “Even so, I still need to prepare a gift for Grandpa Hawkins.”
“Everything is ready. We’ll pick it up at the villa.” Bryan didn’t tease her any further and told her the truth.
“You… Do you like playing tricks on ?” If everything was prepared, why didn’t he say it earlier? It had caused her so much anxiety.
“Hahaha…” Bryan looked at the awkward Carolline and laughed heartily.
Carolline beca even more dissatisfied.
