Chapter 176: Chapter 176: Embarking on the Journey (6)
The villagers had many activities going on, such as celebrating the birthdays of the elderly, the births of children, weddings and the birth of new baby pigs. In the first week, apart from eating at the Village Chief’s house for the first three days, Carolline Ruiz and Gavin Campbell visited the Parker Family and the Weston Family.
Gavin Campbell also gradually accepted the dark dishes he once found disgusting. After a week, he had slowly adapted to them.
Carolline Ruiz was not sure what the reason was, but she hadn’t had any episodes of morning sickness during her week-long countryside stay. She had secretly brought lemons and preserved plums, but she hadn’t eaten them even once.
As a result, Gavin Campbell still didn’t know that Carolline Ruiz was a pregnant woman.
Not far from the Village Chief’s house, there was an adorable little girl about five or six years old. Carolline Ruiz gave her a can of preserved plums, which the young miss hadn’t tasted before. She made a terrible face at her first bite, complaining that it tasted awful.
Naturally, the little girl didn’t ask for the can of preserved plums, so Carolline Ruiz took it back with her.
The next evening, the little girl ca looking for her again, calling her “sister.” After a long ti, Carolline Ruiz finally realized that she wanted to taste preserved plums. Carolline gave her the whole can to take back with her.
The little girl was extrely happy. Later, Carolline Ruiz found out that she had asked for the preserved plums, only to show them off to other children in the village.
Carolline Ruiz had brought a lot of preserved plums, many of which were in bags. So, when a group of children sward into the Village Chief’s house to ask her for preserved plums, she had enough to give each of them a small bag.
“I didn’t expect you to like preserved plums so much?” After the group of children happily dispersed, Gavin Campbell leaned against a tree, looking at Carolline Ruiz with his bright eyes. If Andy Aguirre hadn’t already claid her, he would have really wanted to pursue her.
She looked stunningly beautiful while interacting with the children earlier, like an angel.
“Only occasionally,” Carolline Ruiz replied. She didn’t expose that it was for preventing morning sickness.
There were only two bags of preserved plums left. She really hoped she wouldn’t throw up anymore during the next three months. Otherwise, she wouldn’t know what to do at that mont.
“So why did you bring so many?” Gavin Campbell didn’t understand.
“I’m going to stay here for six months. I brought enough for the entire ti.” Carolline Ruiz said with a smile.
The aunty cooked in the kitchen. Carolline Ruiz had once tried to help, but the aunty chased her out. The aunty cooked quickly, usually preparing four dishes and one soup for their four-person al.
“By the way, where did the Village Chief go today?” Carolline hadn’t seen the Village Chief after lunch all day. There weren’t many patients today, so they returned early to the Village Chief’s house. Soon after, a little girl nad Lynn brought a group of children over to their ho after they were done with school.
“I don’t know. It seems like he went to pick soone up.” Gavin Campbell was also unsure as he had only heard rumors from the villagers. It seed that Gratan Town was going to send a doctor over, but since the news was not confird yet, the villagers’ reaction was lukewarm.
They knew that many previous volunteers who ca to the countryside to provide support left early before their scheduled ti, and it was no wonder that the villagers were disappointed.
“Oh,” Carolline Ruiz didn’t pay much attention to it.
“Carolline, Dr. Campbell, wash your hands and get ready for dinner.” The Village Chief’s wife called Carolline Ruiz and Gavin Campbell when the food was prepared. Before their arrival, they used to clean their hands with a cloth, but now they had developed a habit of washing their hands frequently.
