At this point, Tang Song could not keep quiet any longer. They had to leave soon.
“All right then. Let’s set off now.”
The four of them left in pairs. Tang Song and Wei Dongshao ford one team, while Ye Tianxin and Luo Huayi ford another team.
They had set off in the darkness and silently went on their journey.
The temperature in the desert was very low, making it cold during the night. Ye Tianxin zipped up her jacket to keep herself warm.
“Ye Tianxin, dawn is approaching soon.”
“Yes, the sun is going to be up in a while.”
It was soon morning.
it was the first ti Ye Tianxin saw dawn break in the desert. Her gaze went to the sunrise, a brilliant display of reds and oranges over the desert. It was a beautiful sight to her.
The weather beco hotter as the sun rose up.
The heat settled around them like a hot breath. Ye Tianxin felt like the sun was burning onto her skin.
“Tianxin, can we rest here?”
Wei Shaodong felt that his lips were cracking. He was so thirsty that he felt he might die soon.

Ye Tianxin looked up at the sky. There was no shelter in the desert. If they stopped to rest right under the sun, they would be burnt.
“Tianxin, we can rest here.”
Even the cals had slowed down their pace.
“Let’s take a break then.”
Ye Tianxin looked out to the desert. It was an endless flat piece of land with sand. “It looks like there is an oasis further up.”
Everyone was shocked.
Upon closer inspection, they realized that it was a few haloxylon trees.
Though sowhat disappointed, it was still a good place to rest.
Ye Tianxin sat down and took a bite of her compressed biscuit.
“Tianxin, I have so bread here. Have so.”
“Thank you, but I prefer these biscuits.”
Tang Song was about to take a piece of bread from Wei Shaodong and quickly withdrew his hand upon hearing what Ye Tianxin said.
“That’s right. I like these biscuits too.”
It was a very small piece of biscuit, but it was satisfying to soone who was starving.
“Is it good?”
Luo Huayi had never eaten compressed biscuits and was curious. Ye Tianxin gave a pack to her.
After unwrapping the biscuits, Luo Huayi took a bite. She almost wanted to spit it out as soon as she put it into her mouth.
She had never tasted a biscuit that was so hard and tasteless.
However, when she saw Ye Tianxin and Tang Song eating them hungrily, she was too embarrassed to spit it out of her mouth. She chewed on it slowly and finished up the whole piece.
Luo Huayi could not imagine how Ye Tianxin and Tang Song made their way to where they were.
Many bombs were dropped on the city, and the battle did not look like it was going to stop anyti.
They must have gone through plenty of hardship to arrive at their destination.
Luo Huayi respected both of them.
Although with so initial hesitation, she continued to eat the packet of biscuits.
Nobody knew what tomorrow would bring.
Luo Huayi knew that it was a blessing for everybody of them to be able to live and eat every day.
Everyone felt more tired after resting.
Ye Tianxin looked at Luo Huayi and Wei Shaodong. “We’d better hurry up.”
“Okay.”
Both of them nodded.
The weather at the desert was really unpredictable.
It could be scorching hot one minute, then raining hailstones the next.
