Luo Huayi passed a bunch of keys to Manager Tao. “Manager Tao, I will leave the keys with you.”
“You should keep it. You’re the accountant. I’m only the manager in charge of the project. We should keep to our separate duties.”
Manager Tao looked at Luo Huayi. Although she normally did not talk much while working, she was diligent. Everyone knew that if she did not need to pay for her father’s dical bills, she would not have left her comfortable lifestyle in a first-tier city to eke it out in such a place.
“Huayi, you should get your son a passport since you are getting one for yourself.”
“Yes, I will.”
Manager Tao added, “I think short hair suits you better. The journey will be a dangerous one. It’s more convenient to disguise yourself as a man.”
“Okay.” Luo Huayi agreed.
She was a very courageous woman.
Otherwise, she would not have gone to court to appeal when her husband refused to pay for her father’s dical bills.
Luo Huayi took a pair of scissors and snipped off her hair.
Ye Tianxin looked at the strands of hair on the floor. She felt a lump in her throat.
“Ms. Ye, I would suggest that you cut your hair as well. It’s best to hide your identity as a woman.”
“I understand, but I don’t want to cut my hair.”

Ye Tianxin could not bear to cut her hair short despite knowing that it would be a dangerous journey.
She was unwilling to part with her long, luscious, black hair.
Luo Huayi had finished cutting her hair. The ends were jagged and it did not look pretty at all.
Ye Tianxin walked over to Luo Huayi. “Give the scissors. I’ll trim it for you.”
All girls were vain. Luo Huayi was no exception.
Only a girl who could not afford to pay to maintain her looks was not vain.
Luo Huayi softly said to Ye Tianxin, “Thank you.”
Ye Tianxin trimd off the rough edges of her hair, making it look more stylish.
While Ye Tianxin was so focused on cutting Luo Huayi’s hair, Tang Song exclaid, “Ye Tianxin, is there anything that you cannot do?”
Ye Tianxin explained, “When I was young, we were poor and had no money to go to a hair salon. I used to cut my grandmother’s hair. In the beginning, I wasn’t good at it but over ti, I got the hang of it and my skills improved.”
That was far from the truth.
They were indeed poor when she was a child.
Back then, selling hair was one of the ways to earn money.
Grandma would sell her long hair for money.
Ye Tianxin often cut Grandma’s hair to make it look neater.
“It’s done.”
Ye Tianxin gave the scissors back to Luo Huayi.
Wei Shaodong was observing them from the sidelines. “Huayi, the hairstyle doesn’t look too bad. You look beautiful.”
“Really?”
Luo Huayi looked at herself in the mirror and looked pleased with her new haircut. “It’s not bad.”
Manager Tao kept the passports in a backpack and handed them to Luo Huayi.
“Huayi, these are our passports. You have to keep them safe, all right?”
Luo Huayi carried the bag. It seed like she was carrying all their hopes.
The backpack was heavy with the people’s hopes for survival pinned on it.
“We have two cals here. You can bring them along with you.”
Manager Tao had also prepared so food for them.
“I’m sorry.” He said and bowed slightly to Ye Tianxin and Tang Song.
“It’s all right.”
