During the days Alia was on a business trip, Christopher Hart beca increasingly busy.
He needed to finish work during the day and return ho to be with the kids in the evening.
Though Alia said the three children were very obedient and understanding, aware that mom and dad were busy with work and occasionally absent, Christopher believed family and children should definitely co before work.
Neglecting family due to work is putting the cart before the horse.
So, in the days Alia was away, no matter how many social events he had, he would make it ho by nine before the kids went to bed.
He would tell them bedti stories and listen to their wild imaginations.
Looking at the innocent and pure smiles of the children, his busy and tired heart would find monts of warmth and solace.
Occasionally, a subtle expression on the children’s faces would remind him of the woman he longed for day and night, stirring up waves of longing.
After the kids were asleep, he would continue working in the study.
Through these few days of effort, leveraging his personal skills and Seal-Cloud Corporation’s renowned reputation, he managed to attract quite a few shareholders willing to unite with him.
But while he was making efforts, Summit Industries was also not idle.
As the day of reopening approached, the company’s atmosphere grew increasingly tense.
Late at night, he closed the laptop screen and checked the ti, calculating the ti difference and contemplating a video call with Alia, just as his phone rang.
Seeing the avatar flashing on the screen, Christopher Hart’s handso but weary face imdiately broke into a smile as he swiftly answered the call.
"I knew you hadn’t slept yet, what ti is it now? I clearly told you to take care of yourself; even Hope listens better than you!"
As soon as the video connected, Alia Garcia noticed he was still in the study and began to tease him before he could say anything.
Christopher Hart relaxed, leaning against the chair, and gazed fondly at the face on the smartphone screen, asking, "Miss ?"
Alia was speechless, "I’m criticizing you here! Don’t change the subject!"
"I miss you, I really do, I’m so infatuated that I had a dream about you last night — all about you."
Jerk!
"Stop spouting nonsense!" Alia thought to herself, holding back her blushing heart and responding in annoyance, "I’ll be back in two days, what’s there to miss? Isn’t all that work enough to keep you busy?"
"No amount of work will stop from missing you."
"Alright, alright, can’t you talk about sothing else?" Alia was truly speechless, watching him through the video, knowing he was having a hard ti lately.
The conversation turned serious, and she asked with concern, "How is the company doing? I’ve been following so dostic news, and things don’t seem too good..."
"It’s okay. I t with two investors today, who said they are willing to form strategic partnerships. Most of the news online is written under soone’s directive, deliberately disrupting morale, so don’t believe it."
"Really? You’re not lying to ?"
"How could I dare lie to you?" He chuckled and suddenly rembered his daughter’s words, smoothly changing the topic, "Tonight when putting Hope to bed, she said our family’s mom is the most amazing! No matter how much she or her brothers are fussing, a single look from mom and they behave themselves imdiately."
"Really? When have I ever been that fierce with them?"
"Well, I don’t know, but I think Hope’s right. Sa goes for — if you shoot a strange look, I’d stop misbehaving imdiately."
Seeing the mischievous grin on his face, Alia Garcia scoffed, "Could it be because of your guilty conscience?"
"It’s your authoritative presence."
"Oh, co on, not a single serious word all evening." Alia knew it was late at night back ho, and she made the video call purposely to remind soone that it was ti to rest.
"It’s already late, so you should sleep. No matter how many things there are, deal with them after a good night’s rest. I should be back the day after tomorrow, if nothing unexpected occurs."
"Alright, that’s good, any longer and I’d have to co and drag you back."
"I know, I’ll return once I’m done."
The conversation was reaching its end, and it seed ti to hang up.
But neither of them wanted to press that red button on the phone, both staring at the screens.
Christopher gazed at her exquisite features, his voice increasingly tender, "What’s wrong? Got more to say?"
"Isn’t it you who has sothing to tell ?" Alia chuckled shyly, hinting.
Christopher Hart caught on quickly, his luscious lips curving into a charming grin, "I miss you, really miss you."
She kept an aloof appearance, "I know, what else?"
"What else?"
She pursed her lips uneasily, her expression awkward, "Well... that ssage you randomly sent on WhatsApp the other day."
As soon as she spoke, Christopher understood imdiately.
His heartbeat skipped, and the usually smooth-talking Mr. Hart was unexpectedly shy and pretended to be clueless, "I’ve sent you so many ssages on WhatsApp, who knows which one you an?"
"When I just left for the business trip, while I was on the plane, you sent a ssage. I saw it when I landed, but it was late at night, so I didn’t reply. I got busy the next day and forgot."
Mr. Hart continued feigning innocence, setting up a trap, "Really? I’ve been so busy these days, who rembers what I sent you days ago?"
"Oh, co on! It’s... you sent ’I love you,’ don’t you rember?" Alia Garcia blurted out anxiously.
But just as those three words left her lips, she saw the man on the screen smiling deeply, a look of triumphant cunning on his face, and she instantly realized she had been tricked!
"Christopher! You tricked !" she fud.
The man, overjoyed, said, "Alia, this is the first ti you’ve clearly said those three words to ."
"What are you talking about! I was just repeating what you said!" she defended herself, but her face was flushed and her heart was pounding, unable to et his eyes, she could only speak in exasperation, "Forget it, I’m not talking to you anymore! Bye!"
Just as her words ended, the video call was disconnected, and the beautiful face on the phone screen disappeared.
Christopher blinked, sighed lightly, and the smile lingered at the corners of his mouth for quite a while.
After a mont, he ca to his senses and picked up his phone, pressing the voice button: "Alia, I love you."
Soon, the reply ca from the other side.
Watching, his eyes and eyebrows were filled with an even deeper smile.
[I command you, go to sleep imdiately!]
He laughed and pressed the voice button again: "As you command, Mrs. Hart."
Far away in Zurich, Alia Garcia opened this ssage and listened to it several tis, her smile more radiant than a blossoming flower.
Mrs. Hart...
This title doesn’t sound very pleasant—crazy Mrs.? Sounds like an insult.
With a jumble of thoughts in her mind, she suddenly rembered her main task and opened her contacts to find Benny Palr’s details.
Just now, she had been asking Christopher about the company’s situation, but he had deliberately changed the topic several tis.
In her heart, she knew clearly, but didn’t want to call him out.
It seed the company’s situation was not as light-hearted as he painted; only by asking Benny Palr could she learn how serious the problems truly were.
The call connected, and on the other end, soone wasn’t asleep.
Needing sothing from him, Alia Garcia was very polite, "Young Master Palr, I’m sorry to disturb you so late, I wanted to ask about Seal-Cloud’s suspension situation. I just asked Christopher, he said it was alright, but I detect..."
"Alright?" Benny Palr retorted with these two words, chuckling coldly, then sighing, "He... just wants you not to worry."
"So, the situation is serious?"
"Well, if we say it’s serious, it is serious; if not, then it’s not as bad."
"What do you an?"
Benny Palr briefly explained to her, "Seal-Cloud’s crisis doesn’t stem from internal issues, but from external enemies banding together to put pressure and try to devour this juicy morsel. They say three idiots are as good as Smart Brain, Seal-Cloud, no matter how strong, can’t withstand so many idiots ganging up and the barrage of attacks coming in waves. To resolve this crisis, the key is funding; once the funds are in place, dragging things out will implode the opposition. Seal-Cloud has no internal managent issues, and the projects are all good, so revitalizing is not difficult—the fundantal solution lies in money."
Alia Garcia understood.
As long as the money is in place, no problem is truly a problem.
"Approximately how much more funding is required?"
"At least two billion."
Two billion?!
Alia Garcia was montarily stunned.
Benny Palr said, "Originally, Christopher’s stocks, if not maliciously shorted, could cover more than half, and I could think of ways for the rest, almost resolving it, but who knew..."
Alia Garcia was silent for a while, then suddenly spoke, as if burning the ships behind her: "If two billion can solve the problem, I’ll find a way."
Benny Palr was greatly shocked: "You have a way? Alia, not to discourage you, if it were two hundred million, I might believe you could find a way, but this two billion... I’ve been racking my brains these days too, but it’s truly impossible to gather such a large sum in just a few days."
"I know it’s two billion, and I’m saying it, I’ll find a way! But you must promise , never ntion this to Christopher, and don’t tell him I contacted you."
Benny Palr heard the tension in her voice and suddenly worried, "Alia, you... you must first tell how you plan to do this? You must not engage in anything improper, if sothing untoward happens to you, Christopher will—"
"Don’t worry, I’m very rational and will not do anything illegal. I’ve worked hard to achieve happiness against all odds, how could I bear to give up such a great joy."
"Then you ultimately..."
"Don’t ask just yet, actually I’m not sure now, but I’ll try my best."
"Alright! I’ll wait for your news!"
"Hmm."
After hanging up the phone, Alia Garcia held her phone tightly, her heart beating anxiously.
The sudden thought that jumped into her mind made her blood boil and rush; she stood up and paced back and forth, engaging in an inner battle between her heart and mind.
Shaw entered, holding so docunts, seeing her extre unease and scattered look, he asked with concern, "Sis, what’s wrong? Is there a problem back ho?"
Alia Garcia turned to look at him, halting her steps, her gaze sharp: "Shaw, I’m thinking about making an important decision—"
Shaw’s face froze, and he stamred, "W-what decision?"
"I want to sell Venus."
