Chapter 400 Feels Like an Old Married Couple

Early the next morning.

The two embracing each other in sleep are awakened by a phone call.

Christopher loosens the woman in his arms, turns around and reaches for the phone to answer the call.

anwhile, Alia grabs her phone and seeing there’s just over ten minutes left until the alarm goes off, she decides to get up early.

The three little ones always love getting up early, knowing their dad has finally returned, they rush into the bedroom before he gets out of bed, jumping onto the bed and playing with him.

Alia is in a hurry to go to the airport but also wants to have breakfast with the children before setting off, so she shouts from the bathroom: "Noah, Ethan, Hope, stop playing around and quickly go wash up, breakfast will be ready soon!"

Christopher lies on the bed taking the call, while the three kids are jumping around him, treating the mattress like a trampoline, their laughter drowning out the voice on the phone.

So dads would definitely get angry, scold the kids, and chase them out.

But he’s not like that.

He tries to catch the voice on the other end of the phone while smiling at his kids, raising a hand to be ready in case his daughter falls.

The scene is too heartwarming, too joyful; how could he bear to scold or drive them away?

After Alia "shouts", she hears that the boisterous noise outside hasn’t diminished at all, obviously they haven’t heard her words, so she quickly washes her face and rushes out, "Did you not hear your mom say..."

Before she finishes speaking, she’s shocked by the sight in front of her and hurriedly steps forward: "Alright, alright, stop jumping, what if you fall on and crush your dad?"

But the little ones, being so excited, can’t calm down right away.

"Mom, look how high I can jump!"

"I’m higher! I’m jumping higher than you!"

"Hahaha, this is so fun!"

Alia stands at the side of the bed with her arms open wide, afraid they’ll fall onto Christopher or tumble to the floor, constantly reminding them.

"Can you hear ? Stop jumping, be careful not to fall!"

Christopher finishes his call, sees her displeased expression, and knowing the kids are about to be reprimanded, quickly sits up to intercept: "It’s fine, it’s fine, if they’re having fun, let them keep jumping, I’m here to protect them."

Alia gives him a frosty look.

Christopher, struck by her glare, feels a shiver down his back, promptly changing tactics: "Look, I’m sleeping, the kids are playing, you’re washing up—this scene is so warm and joyful! Doesn’t it feel like a couple that’s been living together for years? If every day is like this, it’s a dream co true!"

Alia wasn’t really angry; she just wanted the kids to move faster so as not to delay breakfast.

Hearing his words, the stern facade on her face gives way, as she glances at him: "Always pretending to be the nice guy!"

"Mom, you can’t scold dad, look, he even has white hair, it’s so pitiful!" Baby Hope sees her dad sitting up and imdiately climbs into his arms, wraps her hands around his neck to act cute, then turns to her mom to say.

Before Alia can respond, Christopher is surprised, "Dad has white hair?"

"Where? Let see!" Ethan "thuds" down to the mattress, walks over to Christopher on his knees, and with his sister’s little white fingers guiding him, takes a serious look and shouts, "It’s true! Dad has white hair!"

In fact, with the stress of life these days, many young people have white hair; it’s really not a big deal.

But Christopher seems like he’s heavily affected, quickly turning to Alia, "Hurry, look, do I really have white hair? Are there many? Quickly pluck it out for !"

Alia lowers her gaze and fiddles with his thick hair, indeed finding striking silver strands amidst the dark hair on his right temple.

Not just one strand.

Even though white hair is not surprising, considering the pressure and challenges he’s faced these past few months, Alia’s heart aches slightly, as if stung by sothing.

No matter how calmly he appears on the surface, he must be worried and distressed inside.

Especially during this period, having lost a loved one, caring for his seriously ill mother, dealing with the company’s crisis—he’s been worn down significantly.

"Is there really?" he asks anxiously, seeing her silent.

"Yes! Yes!" the kids answer first.

Alia cos back to her senses, softly says, "There are two strands, they’re together, don’t move, I’ll pluck them for you."

"Okay, quickly pluck them out!"

But his hair is short and stiff, hard to grip, Alia tries plucking several tis but misses, finally using both hands to clamp before yanking successfully.

"Alright, it’s no big deal, with a few strands of white hair, you’ll look more mature and charming," Alia comforts him, seeing him care so much about his appearance.

Christopher glances at her, "You think I’m getting old."

"No, haven’t you heard they say n at forty are a bloom? You’re far from it, at best a bud just starting to open now."

"..." Mr. Hart is left without words at her comforting attempt.

The five of them play around for a while, Alia checks the ti and urges the kids to quickly get washed up, then go downstairs for breakfast.

"I’ll drive you to the airport later." Christopher says after taking a sip of coffee.

"Drive ? No need, I see your phone’s been ringing nonstop."

The Seal-Cloud’s suspension doesn’t an the crisis is resolved.

This is the last chance for salvation, he needs to seize the ti to connect with all the people and resources they can unite.

"It’s nothing, what’s a little ti now."

The little ones know mom is going on a business trip, reluctant to part, plus preschool hasn’t started yet, staying ho is boring, so they all chi in: "I want to go see mom off too!"

" too!"

" too, too!"

Christopher looks at the kids and smiles: "Alright, we’ll all go see mom off together, now hurry and eat breakfast!"

With their father’s approval, the three children imdiately dove into their food, competing with the piglets.

When they set off, Alia repeatedly insisted it wasn’t necessary, but Christopher still took the three little ones into the car, beckoning her, "Hurry up! Aren’t you in a hurry?"

Helpless...

She had no choice but to get in the car.

Along the way, the three children were so noisy that the roof almost lifted off.

Alia originally wanted to discuss so business matters with Christopher, but with the kids causing a racket, she couldn’t have a proper conversation, so she simply chatted with them.

When they arrived at the airport, Shaw and the other two executives were already waiting.

Ti was tight, and there was no ti for sentintality. Alia hugged the three children tightly, ruffling their heads and instructing, "Be good at ho, listen to your dad, listen to Aunt Harper, okay?"

"Mom, you’ve said it a million tis, our ears are going to grow calluses!"

"You little rascals!"

Christopher quietly waited on the side. When her gaze turned to him, he pressed his hands on the wheelchair armrests and slowly stood up.

Alia stepped forward for an embrace: "These days, it’s been hard on you. Call if anything cos up, no matter the ti."

"Alright." He responded softly, releasing the woman in his arms, and despite the crowd, lowered his neck to kiss her.

The three little ones giggled shyly nearby.

A short distance away, Shaw watched the scene, her eyes wide in surprise, with a face full of "touched to the core" expression.

"Alright, I’m leaving now. You take the kids back." After breaking the kiss, her face flushed with shyness. She parted ways, pushing her suitcase, waved to him, and turned to leave briskly.

With a look of envy, Shaw lowered her voice to exclaim when Alia approached, "You two are so sweet... No wonder the blog says you’re ’Lady Fox’! By the way, is Mr. Hart’s leg healed?"

Alia maintained her image in front of subordinates, shedding her shy, girlish deanor, and sternly said, "Gossip about the boss, do you still want to keep this job?"

"Hehe... just so work-life balance adjustnt."

————

Christopher watched her silhouette pass through security and disappear, before leaving with the children.

Just as he got into the car, his phone rang again.

He had a lot to do today, still uncertain if he could finalize things.

The suspension period was short, and he was indeed under great pressure.

But at this point, he could only take a gamble.

"Sweethearts, Daddy needs to go to the office. Should I take you ho, or do you want to co to the office with ?" After finishing the call, Christopher asked for the children’s opinions.

Noah rembered what their mom told them before she left and asked preemptively, "Daddy, is Grandma still in the hospital? Mom said if Grandma feels better, we should go play with her."

Christopher was surprised, "Mom told you that?"

"Yeah."

He looked at the children, not speaking for a mont, deeply moved.

That little woman, how much had she done for him behind the scenes?

"And what about Ethan and Hope? Do you... want to visit Grandma?"

Hope pouted unhappily but still said, "Listen to brother... let’s go. Anyway, since she’s sick, she can’t do anything to ."

Hearing his daughter’s words, Christopher felt guilty and quickly reassured her, "Grandma knows she was wrong now, and she really likes Baby Hope."

"Hmph, I don’t care! I have Dad, Mom, and brother, that’s enough!"

Since the kids had this intention, Christopher naturally wouldn’t refuse.

Over these days, his mother knew he had to deal with all kinds of company crises, bearing enough pressure, and had been calm for so ti, obediently following the doctor’s orders, without causing trouble.

Having the children visit her would surely make her very happy.

"Alright, Daddy will take you to the hospital. When you’re done playing, let Uncle Fuller and Aunt Harper bring you back ho."

"Okay."

After sending the kids to the hospital, Christopher rushed to the office for work.

With the quiet around him, yearning for a certain person quietly grew.

Even though he knew Alia was on the plane and couldn’t receive his ssage, he couldn’t resist sending a WhatsApp ssage.

[Alia, thank you. And, I love you.]

After sending the ssage, he stared blankly at the phone screen, a smile involuntarily tugging at the corners of his mouth.

Although they had known each other since childhood, childhood sweethearts, and had a marriage, with the triplets now over five years old—such straightforward love confessions were rare.

The last ti he plainly spoke those three words was the eve of New Year’s, during an intimate night.

But at that ti, Alia was so tired she was dozing off, and he might have sounded like he was murmuring in his sleep, so she probably didn’t hear clearly.

Now, by sending it clearly in text, she would surely see it plainly.

Imagining her reaction when she landed and saw the WhatsApp ssage, would she be happy, touched, joyful, or think he’s crazy? Sending such a mysterious ssage?

Thinking about it, he couldn’t help but sigh.

The scent of her lingered subtly in the carriage, lingering around his nose.

They had just parted, and the longing swelled like a sponge soaked in water, fearing how unbearable this week without her would be.
