Alia Garcia stared at her phone screen, so absorbed that she didn’t notice the red light turn green until the honking of the car behind her jolted her back to reality.
She hurriedly released the brake and drove off, feeling a profound sense of annoyance.
Couldn’t she just completely sever ties with him?
Was she dood to deal with this greasy, nauseating entanglent forever?
This problem occupied her thoughts all the way to the office, but she couldn’t co up with a solution.
After her early store inspection, she returned to the studio, as she had a VIP client to entertain that morning.
Around ten o’clock, as she was showing design drafts to the client, Shaw knocked on the door and entered.
Alia lifted her eyes slightly annoyed, but Shaw nonetheless ca forward and whispered in her ear.
Quickly, Alia stood up, "I’m sorry, Miss Williams, but I have an urgent matter to deal with. You may continue to look at the designs, and we can discuss further when I return."
Saying this, she pivoted the computer toward the client, then imdiately followed Shaw out.
In the elevator, Shaw explained, "She’s obviously here to cause trouble, to find fault with you. Why don’t you just call Kane directly?"
Alia’s deanor darkened as she thought it over and said, "Let handle it first."
Her relationship with Kane was awkward at the mont, and she really didn’t want to trouble him further.
Besides, this trouble was orchestrated by Christopher Hart, and she felt that it was only right for her to resolve it herself.
Approaching the boutique, she noticed all the sales associates standing by the counters, with two security guards present as well. Everyone maintained a discreet distance from the foreign lady seated on a high stool.
Betty.
Alia thought to herself that she had rembered the na correctly.
She approached, bearing a formulaic polite smile, and asked in authentic fluent English, "Miss Betty, were you looking for ?"
Betty was leaning one elbow on the glass countertop, one foot resting on the high stool, the other dangling lazily, her posture exuding indolence and arrogance.
She was adorned in Chanel, dripping with wealth and looking down on everyone.
Seeing that the person she was waiting for had finally arrived, Betty adjusted her expression and unapologetically sized Alia up from head to toe, her innate arrogance even more pronounced, "I really don’t understand how a woman like you could srize Kane."
Today, Alia was wearing a white chiffon blouse underneath a light blue tailored blazer, with a unique design that gave her an air of elegance.
Even without makeup, her remarkable features and her fair and smooth skin triumphed over many fully made-up beauties.
If there were to be a competition between the two won, the younger Betty might not necessarily win.
But Alia didn’t care about such ridicule; she never relied on her looks to gain anything, nor did she boast about them.
"If you want to find Kane, go find him, what’s the purpose of causing a scene here? Ruining the store’s image will ultimately hurt Kane—are you sure this is how you show love?"
The dialogue between the two won was entirely in English, and aside from Shaw and a few senior salespeople, no one else understood what they were saying.
They only knew the atmosphere was tense; it seed like a confrontation between the wife and the mistress.
But who was the wife, and who was the mistress? It was hard to say!
"I ca here to find Kane, so why don’t you hand him over? Also, I ca to tell you that Kane has inford his family about your affair, and it’s a pity they all disapprove!"
"A woman who has had a child, who brings three children with her, and who doesn’t co from a family of wealth and power, what makes you think you can be with Kane? What can you offer him, to his family?"
"If I were you, I would have left him a long ti ago, rather than burden him, make him fall out with his family for you, and flee the country in secret!"
Alia didn’t interrupt her accusations, waiting until she was finished before responding calmly, "Kane and I are no longer involved. If you’re still unable to touch his heart, perhaps you ought to look inward for the issue, instead of lashing out at the innocent."
"Plus, since Kane isn’t with now, as to his whereabouts, I suggest you contact him directly."
Alia didn’t want to reveal Kane’s address to the modern flapper; otherwise, it would seem as though she was betraying Kane, pushing a girlfriend onto him.
She had already hurt her dear friend’s heart and couldn’t add insult to injury.
"Miss Betty, there’s nothing left to discuss between us. Unless sothing unexpected happens, it’s highly unlikely that I’ll return to Zurich, so you don’t have to treat like an enemy."
After saying what needed to be said, Alia Garcia looked at the security guard and commanded, "Please ask this lady to leave. Everyone, disperse and get back to work."
The security guard stepped forward and made a ’please’ gesture to Betty.
But how could Betty leave so easily?
She completely ignored the presence of the security guard, got down from the bar stool, and hurriedly caught up with Alia Garcia, blocking her way, "You have to promise that you won’t see Kane again!"
Alia frowned, smiled helplessly, and said calmly, "Miss Betty, Kane and I are friends, and even partners. It would be quite difficult not to see him at all."
"Then you should leave Venus! After all, it was Kane who funded and created the brand. You’re just a designer, what right do you have to be the boss?"
Alia’s face showed surprise; she didn’t expect this tycoon’s daughter to be such an absolute shrew!
"Miss Betty..." she snorted coldly, trying to reason, "Venus is the result of my many years of hard work, not just a simple job. I can’t just leave; I cannot agree to your request."
Having said that, she moved to continue on her way.
However, Betty’s temper flared, and she was quick to act.
Alia only felt her arm pulled, followed by a sudden pain on her face as a "smack" echoed, stunning everyone in the store.
Shaw rushed forward imdiately, "What are you doing? How can you hit soone?!"
Alia covered her face and turned around.
She saw Betty still glaring at her arrogantly, as if to say, ’I hit you, what are you going to do about it?’
Suddenly, Alia felt extrely upset!
These days, entangled by Christopher Hart, her heart was already wrapped in anger, just waiting for soone to vent it on.
So, the hand that had been covering her face dropped, and although her face remained calm, betraying no emotion, her hand swiftly rose and slapped Betty across the face.
Everyone was shocked once again.
Betty, too frightened to believe it, covered her face and remained silent for a while before she burst out in an altered voice, "You—you dared to hit !"
Alia said, "Everyone here can testify that you started it."
"You—"
Before the two could settle their dispute, soone else walked into the store.
Shaw was surprised, "Kane is here!"
Alia turned around, and indeed, Kane had arrived...
Who had inford him?
What was even more surprising was that just as Kane had stepped in, another person followed him.
This person clearly had a quicker pace, a fiercer aura, and a grimr expression.
Alia’s face changed again, and her brows furrowed tightly; she had a bad feeling.
Christopher Hart...
Why had he co too?
Oh right! She had almost forgotten; these past days, she had been followed by bodyguards sent by Christopher Hart.
The two n arrived almost simultaneously, the air suddenly filled with tension, and the eyes of the onlookers around them all bulged with anticipation.
