Shen Weiyi had just co out from the cafeteria and unexpectedly saw Sheng Ting standing at the entrance.
Fang Jing and Yan Xiaoyue exchanged glances, then said, "Yiyi, we just rembered we have sothing else to attend to," and then made a quick exit with great tact.
"I’m going too," Qin Zhen winked at her, signaling her to take this chance.
Shen Weiyi couldn’t help but smile; these people seed even more eager than she was.
Soon, everyone around her had left, leaving her alone.
Shen Weiyi hesitated for a mont before walking towards Sheng Ting.
"Are you waiting for soone?" Shen Weiyi greeted.
Sheng Ting’s gaze fixed unwaveringly on her, his voice soft, "Yes, waiting for you!"
"Is there sothing?" Shen Weiyi asked, surprised.
"This, you left it in the car yesterday," Sheng Ting said as he took an object out of his pocket and handed it to her.
Shen Weiyi glanced at it; it was a small pendant. Originally, it was one of a pair—the other one she had given to Jiang Zhiyi. This one must have accidentally fallen off her bag.
After breaking up, she had packed up many things related to Jiang Zhiyi. Yet, she had forgotten about this pendant.
The two knew each other too well, with many shared mories tangled in all sorts of items, so of which even she couldn’t clearly recall.
Shen Weiyi took it and said, "Thank you!" She paused, then started making small talk, "I just saw you with a girl..." Saying this, she looked around and didn’t see the girl from earlier; she seed to have left.
Sheng Ting smiled and explained, "She is the daughter of my ntor. The teacher has been in the lab for the past few days, and she asked to bring so stuff for him."
"Oh!"
Shen Weiyi inexplicably felt her ears warming up, as if she was deliberately prying, "Anyway, thanks for bringing this to . I should head back now."
"Wait a mont, Weiyi," she heard Sheng Ting call her.
"Yes?" Shen Weiyi turned her head to look at him.
Sheng Ting raised his hand to gently touch her head and said, "There’s nothing between her and , don’t overthink it."
Shen Weiyi felt her mind go blank for a mont. She opened her mouth, wanting to say that she hadn’t overthought, and, after all, she felt like she didn’t have the right to overthink. But the words were swallowed back down, and in the end, she just nodded lightly and said, "Okay!"
Sheng Ting’s smile deepened slightly, "Let take you back."
"Are you, not busy?" Shen Weiyi asked hesitantly.
He had just said his teacher had been staying in the lab these days, which ant he probably had a lot on his plate.
Sheng Ting replied, "It’s fine, it won’t take much ti."
"Oh!" Shen Weiyi didn’t say anything further.
On the way back, Shen Weiyi beca more and more annoyed the more she thought about it. She shouldn’t have asked that question, and also, he had just touched her head.
Wasn’t that too intimate?
And what was her response? "Okay?" Wasn’t that just admitting that she had been overthinking?
Shen Weiyi, Shen Weiyi, what were you even thinking about?
It was all Qin Zhen’s fault, whispering nonsenses into her ear and making her paranoid.
When they neared the dormitory, she finally made up her mind; she cleared her throat and said, "Don’t get wrong, it was just a casual question. I didn’t an anything by it."
"Alright, no misunderstanding," Sheng Ting replied good-naturedly.
In a tone like he was coaxing a child.
Shen Weiyi beca even more embarrassed, wishing she hadn’t said anything. Luckily, the dormitory was just ahead, "I’ll go up first." Without waiting for him to reply, she quickly walked into the dorm building.
Sheng Ting watched her retreating figure, couldn’t help but smirk and curl his lips.
