Wei Wei sat on the sofa, sowhat numb, and closed his eyes for a mont. Then, he pulled out the silver long gun with intricate patterns from his gun pouch. As his palm grasped it, he felt a strange power being drawn from his body, making the gun’s body glow slightly.

This was the gun’s ability—to extract so demon power and convert it into energy for attacks. It was a nto given to him by soone else. However, the power extraction was very slow, so Wei Wei usually used it as a regular weapon. At this mont, it helped him regain so clarity, though his body still felt weak. The head hanging on the wall had been right; the Plague Demon’s power was terrifying because it could infiltrate everywhere. Normally, when facing a Plague Demon, there were only two ways to deal with it: either attack imdiately after encountering it, as their individual combat ability was weak, or flee if they had already released their demon power. The only way to counter it was to escape and slowly purge the disease from the body. That’s why Captain Ouyang decided to evacuate; staying in the city would only make them weaker, eventually losing all combat ability.Wei Wei got up, moving slowly, and began packing his things. He had promised Captain Ouyang and had always followed his orders; otherwise, he wouldn’t have graduated from the training camp. He packed his backpack with bullets, took down the head hanging on the wall, and hung it from his waist. The head almost couldn’t help but smile but was surprised when Wei Wei also removed the goat-faced mask, raincoat, and scythe.“What are you doing?” it asked, startled.“Preparing to escape. Important things can’t be left behind,” Wei Wei replied, picking up the glass bottle from the coffee table. He looked up at the ghostly lady, who seed to understand what was happening and floated towards him warily. Wei Wei took a deep breath, cut his palm, and let a string of blood drip into the bottle. The ghostly lady rushed over, entering the bottle, and Wei Wei sealed it.The head hanging on his waist looked at him with surprise: “Why don’t I get this treatnt?”“You’re more sensible,” Wei Wei said, heading downstairs. He wore a black raincoat, had a gun pouch on his back, the goat-faced mask pushed up on his head, and the head hanging from his waist. His backpack was full of bullets and the bottle contained the ghostly noblewoman. As he prepared to get into his jeep, he saw a little girl in a white dress squatting by the roadside, her eyes closed. Her small head nodded as if she might fall over at any mont. Wei Wei sighed and walked over to her.“How are you?” he asked softly. The little girl tried to open her eyes but couldn’t: “Brother, I feel so bad…”“Where are your parents?”“My dad is sick, and Mom went to buy dicine. She told to rest here for a while…”Wei Wei sighed and squatted beside her, pulling out the silver long gun. He placed it vertically on her forehead, and thin black mist flowed out, entering the gun. The little girl’s symptoms seed to ease, and she slowly opened her eyes. Seeing the head hanging from Wei Wei’s waist and the scythe, she recoiled in fear.Wei Wei smiled and pulled down the goat-faced mask to cover his face. The little girl saw the cartoonish goat face and managed a faint smile.“What are you doing, still teasing kids at a ti like this?”The head hanging on his waist couldn’t help but speak up, rolling its eyes.“Yeah…”Wei Wei slowly stood up: “Ti to go.”His gaze swept around, and suddenly, he felt dizzy. He saw sunlight filtering through a colorful mist, distorting the city’s old buildings like they were lting like Ye Feifei’s favorite ice cream. His gaze fell upon the street, where every window, shop, and vehicle seed to have a little girl in a white dress, all squatting and looking up at him with the sa plea: “Brother, help …”“Captain, we have five minutes until takeoff ti,” soone said at the sa ti at the West Mine Airport in Scrap Iron City. Captain Ouyang, Lucky Sister, Little Lin, Zhu Zai, and others were already seated in the helicopter, each with a box of tissues in front of them, occasionally blowing their noses. Even Uncle Gun, who was driving the helicopter, popped two antipyretic pills into his mouth.“Sen Sen hasn’t arrived yet,” Little Lin said, looking at Captain Ouyang with a questioning expression.“She won’t be coming. She’s inherited the role of the Order Sect’s city guardian,” Captain Ouyang explained softly. “And there’s Feifei; her father said he’s taking her and so family mbers to visit a senior in the next city. It’s the only way to get her out without her knowing.”Lucky Sister looked up: “So, we’re waiting for Little Wei now?”“I called him an hour ago,” Captain Ouyang said quietly. “He said he would follow my orders this ti.”Wei Wei’s eyes fluttered open, and he blinked hard, realizing it was just a hallucination. There were no little girls in white dresses; just ordinary people looking lethargic. Even the girl in front of him was just a middle school student. But... their white dresses seed so striking.Wei Wei got into his jeep, hung the head from the rearview mirror, and started the engine. He drove towards the West Mine Airport. The head closed its eyes but couldn’t hide its surprise. It feared causing trouble, so it kept quiet.Just then, it felt the car accelerating rapidly.“Not only are you leaving, but you’re in such a hurry?”It opened its eyes, looking out the windshield, and saw a wall suddenly appear in front of them.“Whoa!”The car crashed into the solid concrete wall, and the head was flung out.“What are you doing?” it shouted as it flew through the air.“Bad, crashed the car…”Wei Wei wiped the blood from his forehead, smiling as he got out to inspect the damage. He nodded in satisfaction and shot the tires, saying, “Now we can’t make it to the airport on ti.”“I’m not disobeying the captain; it’s just an accident,” he added. The head shouted, “You’re crazy! Even if you don’t want to go, why do this?”But Wei Wei picked it up, looking at his face, and it suddenly fell silent. It realized it was pointless to ask if he was crazy.“Let’s go!”Since they couldn’t escape, they might as well use the ti to do sothing. Wei Wei smiled and walked towards the distant crowd. This city had many little girls in white dresses waiting for him... Soone had to stand with the lambs.
