Chapter 545: 524 More Mind Reading Technique
Caral’s slogans, of course, had no effect; the expressions on the Regulators’ faces didn’t change at all.
“We should retreat,” said the White Emperor as he already severed the ‘air wall’ behind them with the Power of Waves.
During this ti, the White Emperor had learned to use the characteristics of the Divine Power of the Devouring God, which was that he found, except for the instance within the Spirit’s original map, the barriers in other instances could be broken through attacks and skills.
The “all-spells-break” power of the Devouring God was no joke. This air wall was not erected by Jiang Qiao, so the White Emperor easily sliced through it with a single longsword strike, which in other worlds might have counted as the highest level Magic Barrier protection.
“There’s no need to retreat. Dying in an instance is such a normal thing; it’s not like we haven’t died before, and the death penalty in the Sustainable Sanctuary isn’t severe.”
The reason why Caral dared to follow the White Emperor into a hellishly difficult area was… that the death penalty in the Sustainable Sanctuary, compared to the death penalties of things like divine battles or Black Tide Island, was simply a drizzle.
The death penalty in the Sustainable Sanctuary rely involved a temporary deduction of attribute limits; the more you died, the more would be deducted, and you only could restore your attribute limits by resurrecting and retrieving your own corpse at the original spot.
This was also a death penalty Jiang Qiao was forced to implent due to the players’ distance from the server’s main body.
But this penalty, compared to the safety of Fureya… was simply incomparable. Caral could die hundreds of tis and then casually pick up his own dead body.
Death is an inevitable experience for ga players.
So Caral and the White Emperor were caught by this group of Regulators.
Under the watchful gaze of this group of lord-level BOSSes, Caral and the White Emperor were thrown onto the stage like little chicks.
“Are they the rumored descendants of the Devouring God who invaded the Sanctuary?”
“I feel the power of the Devouring God on them! We should eliminate these two monsters!”
“You can’t kill them… they will keep being reborn, just like our biological printers’ revival thods.”
“Why don’t you leave it to our research institute? We’ve been lacking Devouring God materials for far too long!”
These Regulators really looked at Caral and the White Emperor with curiosity, like they were looking at little chicks in a zoo, but so of the Regulators who were forrly deities stood back instinctively.
Because the title of the Devouring God in the star chart was not to be taken lightly.
“Lord Grey Eyes wants the whereabouts of these invaders, everyone… let handle this matter,” interrupted Ayula, the Sea Demon God, halting all the Regulators’ discussions.
Her identity was also a Regulator and her standing among these Regulators was not low.
“Please be cautious, Lady Ayula, your Mind Reading Technique may not work on these descendants of the Devouring God,” another Regulator said.
“Let try.”
The aquarium the rmaid was sitting in suddenly moved, coming in front of Caral and the White Emperor.
“Mind Reading Technique? Seriously?” Caral was dumbfounded upon hearing the Regulators’ exchange, feeling the power flowing within his body while using the ga pod was already astonishing enough.
Now NPCs could read minds… This only deepened the suspicion Caral already had, now even more doubtful if Spirit was really just a ga.
“This is also my first ti attempting to read the mind and mories of a descendant of the Devouring God. Relax… this is not a painful process,” said the Sea Demon God Ayula, her voice carrying a hypnotic effect. At that mont, Caral truly felt sothing intruding into his… internet connection.
It wasn’t his own consciousness, but the sensation soone was leeching off his internet!
Suddenly lifting his head, Caral looked at Ayula in front of him, and a bunch of strange things appeared in Ayula’s view.
For example, “I think White Simpleton can be paired up with this rmaid sister.”
“Caral the Great, why not capture this pretty rmaid sister?”
“Capture! Capture! Capture! Capture!”
“Here’s a Super Rocket for the strear, catch the rmaid sister!”
Beyond these strange texts, a bunch of rocket and airplane icons flew past her sight.
“Is there a problem, Lady Ayula?” The other supervisor noticed the change in expression on the face of the sea demon.
“In his mind… there seems to be more than one consciousness present. Wait, I’ve captured his thoughts.”
Ayula didn’t understand where this barrage of strange ssages was coming from, but she still managed to capture Caral’s consciousness and began to focus her own spirit to attempt an invasion into Caral’s mind.
At that mont, an option popped up in front of Caral’s eyes.
‘The Sea Demon God Ayula is requesting to establish a psychic connection with you. Do you consent? Yes/No.’
Of course, Caral chose No; he wasn’t clear whether this mind reading technique was arranged by the plot or was genuine mind reading.
In any case, it could likely expose the location of their base, which was a far more serious matter than the punishnt of death.
The instant Caral chose No, a -52300 damage number suddenly appeared above Ayula’s head, and at the sa ti, deep blue blood spilled from her eyes.
“Lady Ayula!”
“I’m fine… I simply underestimated the power of the Devouring God,” Ayula said, her voice sounding sowhat pained and distorted.
“You can try reading mine.”
The Emperor, who had been silent all this ti, suddenly spoke up.
“…Hey!” Caral spoke out to warn the Emperor, emphasizing that while death was acceptable, intelligence was sothing to protect at all costs.
“Descendant of the Devouring God, are you belittling ?” Ayula’s gaze shifted to the Emperor as she asked.
The Emperor’s provocation had no effect, but Ayula still turned to attempt to invade the Emperor’s consciousness, only to see nothing.
This ti, the block was even more complete than with Caral; while she was looking at Caral, at least she could see the barrage of weird ssages and gifts in his live-streaming room, but with the Emperor, she saw nothing.
The Emperor thought for a mont and then removed the cat-eye eye mask that was covering his eyes. The very mont his eyes t Ayula’s, Ayula finally succeeded in reading the Emperor’s consciousness, and then… there was no after.
When Ayula regained her senses… she found herself sitting in an entirely dark space, her eyes flitting about anxiously. Suddenly, countless eyes lit up in the dark space, all of them looking at her.
“What is this place?” The Emperor’s voice suddenly sounded beside Ayula’s ear.
“That’s the question I should be asking you, Descendant of the Devouring God.” A trident appeared in Ayula’s hands, and though her voice remained very calm, she had already fully entered into battle mode.
The Emperor was equally calm, without any emotional fluctuations, and after pondering for a mont, the dark space under his control shattered apart.
After the shattering, the eerie spiritual world was divided into two: on one side was the training room of the White Sword Team, and on the other a vast ocean.
“Truly astonishing, you’ve managed to invade my consciousness in return, but… it seems I still have the upper hand on you, Descendant of the Devouring God.” The Sea Demon God Ayula stood in the center of these two worlds.
The Emperor didn’t respond… He simply drew his sword and slashed at the Sea Demon God Ayula.
Ayula, reacting to counter with her trident, found that the Emperor’s fla-engulfed longsword had pierced through a mass of dark gray mist behind her.
After the mass of dark gray mist let out a ghastly wail, it burned away to nothingness and disappeared.
‘You have killed the consciousness seed of the Grey Eyes.’
“What… what have you done?”
Ayula, who had remained calm until now, finally showed an expression of losing control after seeing the Emperor slay the mass of gray mist.
“It was controlling you from inside your mind, so by killing it, wasn’t I helping you?”
The Emperor said and then thrust his sword abruptly into the ground, completely annihilating another gray mist that was trying to escape.
“This was my guarantee for survival in the Sanctuary! You’ve done the wrong thing!” Ayula reached out and grabbed the Emperor’s collar as she spoke.
“If… if you can’t live here any longer… have you considered joining us on the Spirit side?” the Emperor asked.
