Chapter 543: Chapter 532: Soul Inquiry (First Update)
Jiang Qiao hadn’t expected that Silver would choose to continue with his original idea.
Initially, Jiang Qiao thought that once players discovered that their precious creatures had been taken, they would furiously kick open the gates of the Sustainable Sanctuary.
So players indeed had this idea, but under Jiang Qiao’s mission guidance, the players shifted from attacking the Sustainable Sanctuary to embracing the traditional techniques of holy spirits… that was, seizing people!
This ti, the target was no longer limited to the guardians of the Sustainable Sanctuary, but… all living and intelligent beings within the Sustainable Sanctuary.
The specific process of seizing involved leveling up all civilians in the Sustainable Sanctuary to guardians.
Jiang Qiao got the information from Hunter Alma that there were about nine million civilians in the Sustainable Sanctuary.
Nine million, which might represent the population of two cities on Blue Planet.
But these nine million civilians might have been heroes and significant figures in their past planes, yet after coming to the Sustainable Sanctuary via the Path to Ascension, they realized their achievents in their original realms were worth nothing here.
The Sustainable Sanctuary had managed to suppress the Void Swarm on the star chart for so long by relying on armies of machines; Hunters were only deployed as elite mbers for specific critical tasks.
To achieve this goal required two approaches, one was to run a campaign in the Sustainable Sanctuary, encouraging all its citizens to opt for spirit level-up services to attempt the Path to Ascension.
The second was for the level-up teams from Biland Island to go into overdrive mode.
Jiang Qiao didn’t need to worry about the toughness of the spirit players, as per the Path to Ascension leveling rewards he had set, he estimated all players across the server would transform their resilience into a fortified 13.
What worried Jiang Qiao was the campaign issue on the side of the Sustainable Sanctuary.
“Hai Lan, are you sure you want to go there?” Jiang Qiao’s hands were gently holding Hai Lan’s as he was performing a transfer ritual.
The Sustainable Sanctuary had blocked all transmittable barriers, and although Jiang Qiao could break through this barrier, the distance was too vast, so he couldn’t find the way.
The only path he could find was through Caral, where Jiang Qiao could appear by Caral’s side in the form of a summoning beast.
However, the existence of this summoning beast would need to be maintained by Caral’s Magic and Spirit power, so Jiang Qiao couldn’t construct a summoning beast too powerful; if Hai Lan appeared in the form of a summoning beast as a level 65 Creation Mage… Caral could just about cope.
“If I don’t go there, does that an I won’t get much of a role again?” Ever since creating her account, Hai Lan had always wanted to join the spirits in a major global event and have a big fight.
Obviously, challenging the highly demanding Path to Ascension was not sothing Hai Lan wanted to do; she preferred to go to the perilous Sustainable Sanctuary, right in the midst of the enemies, to perform… an advertising campaign.
“Afraid so, then I’ll teleport you,” Jiang Qiao also felt that if Hai Lan went, she could certainly provide so insurance effect.
So, under Jiang Qiao’s control of his summoning power, Hai Lan’s figure disappeared from his sight; when Hai Lan opened her eyes again, she found herself deep within a warmth-lit tallic space.
“Everyone!”
Hai Lan had barely had a chance to take in her surroundings when Xue Bi’s voice interrupted her thoughts.
This was exactly the breeding center located in the Sustainable Sanctuary, the headquarters of the spirit publicity departnt.
Xue Bi now stood on a temporarily constructed platform, serving as the commander of this regional event.
“I’m Xue Bi, the vice president of Cola Fanatics; I assu all players willing to participate in this event task are here?”
Xue Bi stood on the platform and glanced below, estimating that roughly four hundred thirty-seven players had been involved in this super-temporal transfer.
These players were Xue Bi’s only available ‘spirit level-up promoters.’
Among these four hundred thirty-seven players, many were familiar faces to Xue Bi, including Cola Fanatics’ strongest fighter Caral, and the strongest fighter of White Sword squad, Emperor White, all were present.
There were also Li Hua and Grandma Orange, who had originally been involved in the research of breeder civilization; others were players from various spirit guilds.
With Rosh’s assistance and rescue, they had all gathered here, so players who didn’t want to participate in this event had already used the return function to go back.
“Next, let’s have Guardian Rosh, who is in charge of this regional task, explain the mission.”
Under Xue Bi’s signal, Rosh, one of the only two NPCs in the entire breeding center, stepped onto the platform.
This was not the first ti Rosh had stood in front of the Spirits. Among the four hundred and thirty-seven spirits below, there were even players from Rosh’s camp, who kept shouting, “Wow, finally eting the big sister!” when they saw Rosh appear.
“Dear Spirits, I know that suddenly being far from your holand and coming to this strange place makes you feel… very confused,” Rosh began narrating the background story of the regional mission according to the script Jiang Qiao had given her, following international convention.
Players spent the ti during Rosh’s plot introduction looking at forum posts, chatting in groups, and daydreaming, but finally perked up when Rosh started to introduce the tactics for the instance.
“The Sustainable Sanctuary is divided into one hundred and thirty-seven areas, which I have categorized into difficulty levels as follows: easy, normal, hard, and hell. I do not recomnd that Spirits who have not fully mastered their own power enter the areas above hard difficulty.”
The difficulty division explained by Rosh was also consulted with Jiang Qiao, based on Rosh’s years of experience working in the Sustainable Sanctuary.
The Sustainable Sanctuary has only a few civilian areas with relatively weak security. Next, nearly all the factory and research areas are rated hard, and the areas where the supervisors live are rated as hell.
There, players might encounter one who could make their powers go out of control at any ti.
After explaining the distribution of the instance, there was a whole bunch of rewards for completing the instance, most of which could be obtained in the Path to Ascension, while a few exclusive awards were mainly titles and mounts.
After Rosh had explained a whole bunch of complex instance chanics, a player in the crowd raised his hand…
“I have a question! What about a friend who also wants to join this instance? How can they co in?” asked the player.
“A contractor with a divine prefix in the Path to Ascension guide should be enough,” Rosh patiently answered the questions the Spirits had.
But more players, after hearing about the instance chanisms, couldn’t wait to sit in the regional teleportation array and start strategizing the instance.
Among them were Caral and Alma.
“I never thought the day would co when I’d team up with you alone.”
Caral arrived at a hell-level area through the internal teleportation matrix set up by Rosh.
This was precisely the upper-class residential area where the supervisors lived, and Caral was tead up with Alma, forming a two-person team.
“Caral, can I ask you a question?”
Alma glanced around at the surroundings; they seed to have been teleported to a high tower and were relatively safe.
“If it’s about controlling power and skills, I can’t help you, since we’re not playing the sa profession,” Caral responded.
“No, it’s sothing else.”
“What is it?”
“How exactly… does one get a girlfriend?” Alma hesitated for a mont but still asked a question that might have puzzled all n.
“…?”
Upon hearing Alma’s question, Caral almost put a huge question mark over Alma’s head. Although he couldn’t see Alma’s eyes clearly, from his expression, Caral could tell that Alma was very serious about this question.
“How would I know how to find one when I don’t have a girlfriend myself?” Caral grumbled, holding his Moonlight Sword, “And with your current status, even if a female player were interested in you, could you even see what that female player looks like? I’m even more clueless about finding a girlfriend in reality.”
“I can see.”
Alma said and even lifted the eye cover blocking his eyes to his forehead, revealing his very sincere eyes as he looked at Caral.
It was then that Caral noticed that what Alma wore was a sleep mask, which even had a dead fish eye pattern of a cat on it.
“Seriously?”
“Seriously, I know I also handle relationships with female players among the Spirits badly, but relationships with the female NPCs in the Spirits should be no problem,” said Alma, whose straightforward tone suddenly beca a bit lancholic.
At that mont, Caral suddenly rembered the rumors about Alma and a host of female broadcasters, as well as that emoji of bitter liquor and heartache — truly painful mories indeed.
