Kain Locke

"You sure you're not going to the gym Gray?" The oga with a face cap said to the afro cut Beta.

"Probably going to shower, then have a good rest, why go to the gym anyway? We had much of that yesterday. My muscles are still sore." Gray complained.

"Co on, or you're going to be really sorry later in the Assembly." The Oga said, and Gray eyes snapped up, then his gaze went directly to and he scowled at .

The Oga chuckled and went to pat his shoulder, "Co on."

"Fine." He groaned and stood up, eventually following him as the door clicked shut behind them.

I plopped myself on the bed, exhaling as I did so. My hands slid into my pocket and brought out my communicator.

I unlocked it, and Brian's picture lit up the screen.

That day had been bright, the grass so green it almost looked unreal. We had been staying in a small apartnt, lying low for a while considering the fact that It belonged to an old woman with a beautiful yard who allowed us in for a few weeks back then, and I had managed to capture the mont, Brian stretched out on the ground, laughing at sothing I had said.

My thumb brushed over the screen as I stared at the photo, lost in the mory.

However, the mont didn't live long when a sudden angry voice pulled back to the present. It sounded like an argunt, coming from sowhere outside the room. The hallway, maybe because it sounds too close, so it's highly likely it's coming from the hallway.

I wasn't planning to check. Because whatever was happening out there had nothing to do with . All I wanted was a calm space to reminisce over my current situation and how to get out of this

But then, amidst the heated argunts was another voice rising above the others. It sounded familiar to , but I couldn't rember where I had heard it from.

Although it was oddly familiar in so ways, but, like I said earlier, I had no interest in what was happening here or there so I kept my focus back on my communicator pretending I wasn't listening. But before I could piece together what was happening, the door to the room suddenly burst open.

I couldn't help but turned sharply to see her, her chest was heaving up and down,

Her eyes going to take a quick scan at the room before landing on , her eyes were wide open like she couldn't believe any of it,

Then before I could say a thing, or even say her na, she had already rushed towards and threw herself on , almost causing to stumble back, if I hadn't held onto the wall in ti.

"Kain!" Her arms trembled slightly as she held , as if she still couldn't believe I was real.

When she finally pulled back, her eyes were shining. Then, with a sudden squeal, she clapped her hands together. "You're really back, I can't believe it! You really are back!"

I was beyond relieved to see soone I can really use their presence at this mont.

Even though it has been five years, a lot had happened, I had changed, or I think I had, but I never thought I'd one day co face to face with her again, contrary to the fact that she still had a gun pressed against her head the very last ti I saw her.

She pushed down onto the bed and sat beside without missing a beat. As her hand cupped my cheek, her eyes scanned my face before she sighed.

"Ow, I used to think you looked thin. Now you're even thinner."

I rolled my eyes. Of course. This was the Bella I knew. Not the one sweet to an extent of pulling into a hug.

"Are you the one in the hallway?" I inquired curiously,

"Of course yes, but those damned Beta's wouldn't even give breathing space in the hallway!" She gritted her teeths and her fist balled on her laps, "I couldn't help it though, I ca as soon as I heard the news of your arrival, but goodness, i almost couldn't recognize you... where has the silver hair gone, and why are the eyes black now?" She asked, losing her balled fist and planting them on the bed, leaning her weight on it.

"Circumstances." I said simply, not really planning to get into the full story.

"I never thought I would see you again." She sighed, her eyes going to look at the ceiling. "It was all kind of a blur to as well. I an, it's pretty much one, as far as I know, you fell right in my face, and I followed sooner after. Only to wake up so hours later in the warehouse, I couldn't even look for you, didn't even know what happened to you, because before I could even wipe the blood on my forehead, flashes ca from several directions and I was captured."

My mouth hung open almost imdiately, "You were.. captured? By who?"

"Who else?" She chuckled dryly, "Four years spent in Cell X because I failed a mission, I was even surprised he chose to lock up rather than take my life, which is very much the Caspian son's way."

"You an Kael?" My eyes widened, so much they could co out of their sockets right then. Didn't she used to admire him a lot?

She let out a soft laugh.. "It's all in the past. I think it's already good enough that I still have my life." She shrugged, bringing back her gaze to my face then she smiled faintly, "It's really nice to see you're not dead as well... and goodness, you've changed, a lot."

I nodded, "I feel you also look... different... Like.." I trailed off, thinking about it, she had changed a lot too, she's a head taller than now, and she has gained more muscles on those thin arms.

"Like a heavy weight champion?" She grins, "Of course I knew that even before you say it, besides four years spent in that damned cell, and all those handstands and pushups weren't for nothing." She went on and boasted even before I could say anything, typical Bella.

I smirked. "More like a swimr than a heavyweight."

Bella gasped, clutching her chest dramatically. "You wouldn't dare!" She groaned and swung at , but I was quicker, dodging just in ti. She always threw the first punch, so things never changed.

My breathing was a little fast as I eventually plopped myself on the bed looking at her face, "So, what was all that yelling about?" I switched the question, purposefully changing the conversation as I tilted my head. "You should really work on this temper." I rolled my eyes at her, "Always sounding like you were about to rip soone's throat out."

Bella scoffed. "Maybe I will do so throat ripping on so Beta. And put them in their place," she said, crossing her arms. "But he wouldn't even let people touch them." She growled with so much frustration.

"He?"

"Caspian makes the rules and he can bend them at will, or haven't you noticed this base is literally swarming with Beta's now?" She curled an eyebrow.

Thinking about it, I noticed while I was being brought here by the guide, "I guess... but since you're kind of in an argunt with them, why didn't they follow you in here?"

She leaned back, giving a smug grin. "Because they wouldn't dare. They might be this fortress in the hallway, or in the dining hall, or every other place, just not here and the room at the end of the hallway below this floor."

"Why not?"

She glanced around before whispering, "This room belongs to Alec. And the one on the floor beneath this one belongs to Kael."

It's reasonable for anyone who values his or her life to stay away from any floor Keal Draeven's on. But Alec?

I blinked. "Who's Alec?" I asked, rembering the guide had also asked of him earlier.

"A very quiet Beta who hates Beta's. It's absurd right? But he's so violent that he once killed a beta with a steel rod pipe while sleeping on his bed. Well the beta was drunk and entered into a wrong room. His luck? Worse because the one he chose was Alec's, So, except for his roommate, no one's allowed in here."

"But that's not allowed... you can't just kill team mbers.."

"Thats in the past, things have changed now. You get away with anything, in as much as you're a beta, most importantly if you're Alec. And don't even ask who laid down such rules." She said, brushing a slipped strand of her dark hair away.

I frowned with confusion, "Then how could you get in?"

Bella smirked, flicking my forehead. "Because I saw him walking to the floor below this one, and whenever he does, he won't be out until several hours later. That's the only reason I had the guts to step foot in here."

"Oh..." that seed to be the only word that ca out of my mind, a beta who hates beta, yet still lives with one, i an Gray is a beta as far as I'm concerned.

I was still processing everything she had just said when she suddenly stood up and patted my back.

"I've got to go before I'm late for the assembly hall. You should probably start getting ready too."

I frowned slightly, "Ready for what?"

Bella gave a look. "For your hocoming. Didn't the guide explain that to you?"

I hesitated. How could I tell her that maybe the guide had ntioned it, but I wasn't paying attention when he was doing it.

She sighed.. "Well, now you know. So get your ass ready and be there as soon as you can, because the boss is going to be present."

My stomach tightened. "Boss?"

She glanced at over her shoulder. "Caspian Draeven."
