The Underground Market was nothing like Lyrasia had ever seen. The streets above, filled with noble rchants and proper negotiations, were a world apart from the shadows she now walked through.

Here, wealth wasn’t counted in gold alone—it was asured in leverage, secrets, and power.

She had managed to pass the gatekeepers’ tests with her wits intact, but now she stood at the entrance of sothing far bigger. The Grand Auction.

A towering, lavishly decorated hall unfolded before her, filled with aristocrats cloaked in dark hoods, rchants whose faces bore no nas, and cri lords who wielded influence like a blade.

Candles flickered against the obsidian walls, illuminating the stage where treasures beyond imagination were brought forth.

But Lyrasia wasn’t here for jewels or art. She needed food—enough to save her village. And if the Underground Market couldn’t provide it, then she would find another way.

She wove through the crowds, careful not to draw too much attention.

The bidding had already begun, the auctioneer standing tall on the stage as he presented the first item: an intricately crafted dagger infused with enchantnts of silence and speed.

"Fifty gold bars," soone called from the back.

"Seventy-five," another countered.

The price climbed until the dagger was sold for an obscene amount, but Lyrasia barely paid attention. She was searching, scanning, hoping to find the one thing her village needed most.

Then, she saw it.

A small, seemingly unremarkable glass orb, swirling with a faint blue light. The auctioneer stepped forward, his voice smooth as silk.

"Next, we present an artifact of imnse value—the Tears of Naira. A drought-controlling relic, capable of summoning rain and restoring fertility to barren lands."

Lyrasia’s breath caught in her throat.

This was it. This was what could save her village.

Bidding began imdiately.

"Two hundred gold bars!"

"Three hundred!"

"Five hundred!"

Lyrasia’s hands clenched into fists. There was no way she could outbid these rchants—not with the ager amount of funds she had scraped together. Her stomach churned. If she lost this chance, her people would starve. Her village would fall.

And then, a whisper brushed against her ear.

"I will back your bid... if you beco my pawn."

She stiffened. The voice was low, smooth, filled with amusent but also calculation. She turned slightly, her gaze eting a pair of piercing violet eyes beneath the hood of a man who exuded wealth and danger in equal asure.

"And who exactly are you?" she asked, keeping her voice steady.

The man rely smiled. "Soone with the ans to win that artifact. Soone who sees potential in you."

Lyrasia’s mind raced. Accepting help from a stranger in the Underground Market was akin to selling one’s soul. If she agreed, she would be bound to him, indebted in ways she might not even understand.

But if she didn’t... her village would die.

She looked back at the auction. The price had climbed to a staggering one thousand gold bars.

"Do we have a higher bid?" the auctioneer called.

Lyrasia closed her eyes, exhaled, and made her choice.

"Bid two thousand," she said.

A murmur spread through the crowd at the sudden leap. The previous bidders hesitated, wary of challenging an unknown force willing to spend that much.

The auctioneer raised his hand. "Two thousand gold bars—going once... going twice... SOLD."

A mixture of relief and dread settled in Lyrasia’s chest. She had won the Tears of Naira.

But at what cost?

The mysterious benefactor led her away from the auction hall, down a secluded corridor lined with velvet drapes. At the end of the hallway was a grand chamber, where candlelight flickered over a polished mahogany desk. He took a seat, gesturing for her to do the sa.

"So," he said, folding his hands together. "Shall we discuss your debt?"

Lyrasia forced herself to remain composed. "I don’t make blind deals. What exactly do you want from ?"

The man chuckled. "Good. I was hoping you weren’t naive. I am Lord Caspian Vale, and I am in need of a rchant with... unique talents."

Her eyes narrowed. "Why ?"

"Because you are different. You think beyond coins and numbers. You see the cracks in the system, the flaws in trade, the loopholes that others ignore. I want soone like you in my employ."

Lyrasia’s stomach twisted. This wasn’t just about repaying a debt—he wanted control over her, just as Varian had. Another set of chains, another cage disguised as an opportunity.

She stood. "I appreciate the offer, Lord Vale, but I have no interest in being soone’s pawn."

His lips curled into a smirk. "Then how do you plan to pay back?"

A system notification flashed before her eyes.

Lyrasia’s mind sharpened. She had one day to solve this. And she would. She had to.

She took a breath and looked Vale in the eye. "I propose a trade. Instead of working under you, I will earn back every gold bar you spent on . Give one month."

Vale’s expression remained unreadable. "And if you fail?"

"Then I’ll sign your contract," she said, forcing confidence into her voice. "But if I succeed, I walk away free."

For a long mont, he simply studied her. Then, finally, he smiled. "Interesting. Very well, Lyrasia. One month. But let warn you—debt in this world is never just about money."

She nodded, turning toward the door.

As she stepped out into the cold night, she felt the weight of her decision settle over her. She had won the Tears of Naira. She had secured hope for her village.

But she had also stepped into a ga where the stakes were far greater than she ever imagined.

And the countdown had begun.

A hush fell over the room as masked figures whispered, their gazes fixed on Lyrasia—an unknown bidder daring to challenge seasoned rchants.
